Age of the trailer is important , most important is the load rating on the tire and to torque the wheel studs every couple of hundred miles when doing this hold the the bearing for heat and the tire for heat. Soft rubber is a killer. 🤞 😊 10:31

The Bayliner 2855 is a sweet boat. It was our first "big" boat in the Pacific Northwest. We loved it so much we upgraded to a 4788! We now spend our entire summer on our boat. Hope you're still loving the 2855. :-) A couple of quick notes from a former 2855 owner: check the bilge pump to make sure it works. Mine was burned out and didn't work. It was impossible for me to remove (don't have your skillset) as it was directly under the engine. It was easy to add a new bilge pump in a low spot, wire it up and good to go. Check the holding tank vent twice a year. Bugs nest in the tube and can clog it. Clear it with compressed air or a shopvac. If your depth gauge is off, they can be set with a clearance factor. I would set ours to show 8 feet as zero depth, as shorelines rise quickly here and I wanted an early alarm. Check the rubber bellows every trip for cracks and leaks. Water leaking in there will ruin your outdrive. Finally, if you want/need navigation I downloaded software to my iPad that is awesome. I prefer Navionics for ease of use and cost, though I also use iNavX (which is beefier but much harder to use, and is overkill for the average boater). Enjoy your time on the water!

I just started watching you two yesterday and truly enjoyed it. My wife and I bought a 28 foot Bayliner at an auction for $1,100 and planed to spend our retirement years on it but then found out my wife has cancer so our plans changed. You know what the late great John Lennon said about life it is what happens while you are making other plans. The good news is, we sold it $1,200 and didn't put a sign dime into it. It is especially cool to see you guys enjoy yourselves so much. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you two and your family. Thanks again. Cher and Charlie from Casper Wyoming

@@jeffreybuerk9426 if you watch it in full screen and slow down you'll see that the ball mount definitely flexes. Oh. And when trailering, at least in Ohio, an easy tension strap under the outdrive or a like minded product is safer. Especially since the o-rings in the hydraulic pumps for the trim and tilt can pop and the outdrive sags and drags. And skegs are hard to fix and bolt on replacements can throw the balance off. Basically you end up needing a new outdrive housing. Happy boating!!

Great job and nicely edited! Just a pointer on starting an engine when its out of the water. Always hook up the garden hose with water, even if its only a quick start. You don't need water for engine cooling, but you do need it for lubricating the water impeller that's inside the lower unit. The rubber impeller will melt almost immediately if it doesn't have water to lube/cool it.

Immediately change your fuel/water separator, and add a fuel stabilizer to your gas with every time you add fuel. I noticed your engine, no matter what you have been told, premium fuel at minimum. These are mandatory if you are not using your boat routinely. A 9volt battery with a button on the hot wire will help you open the injector shutter and you can spray cleaner backwards through your injectors body to really clean them. Change the oil and substitute a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer for one of the quarts of oil. Your engine will love you for this and give you less damage since it won't be running regularly.

When you were changing the lights in back, use the metal loop that was in the picture for the rear straps. The hole in the bunk that you did is only as good as the wood itself is. When you need it, the wood might not be strong enough. Also make sure that you change out the raw water pump impeller. Never know when it was changed last. When pulling out the boat, Get your bunks wet first and then pull up. I usually just show the tips of the bunks, but that will vary. If you always go to one ramp, then mark the water level that works best, and make sure that you can see the mark in the camera. Enjoy and be safe, remember to turn off the blower when fueling and back on when your done. Last thing you need is to have a spark around fuel that is within the boat.

I agree, the tie downs need to be in the metal of the trailer frame, not the wood. Also make sure your tie down straps are up to the job, they each need to be rated greater than the weight of the boat in case one come loose.

@@DonCatherman well I experienced the bad side of not strapping the boat down. Went maybe 50 miles and found the boat sitting on it's side. Went to an auto shop and they hooked onto the outdrive and lifted up the boat so we could reposition it. 20 foot boat. It was pouring down rain when we pulled it out and decided to skip it. Well it didn't work out for us. But, I see people pulling boats all the time without tie straps and I guess don't have a problem. So who knows, I always strap my Malibu surf boat down for sure. Straps are built into the trailer. Happy trailering.

Recommend; Disconnect the The Trailer electrical plug before launching. Even though, a fantastic job of new trailer light install was done. Keeps towing vehicle trailer lights fuse from blowing and keeps from ruining the the wiring in the event the is a short to water.

Hey Emily. Heres a tip when launching or loading a boat that size on a steep launch ramp. Chock the wheels on your truck just in case!!! I saw a few videos where the weight of a heavy boat pulled the truck into the water and flooded it. Especially on a wet slippery ramp.
