He appears to have matured quite a bit! Great looking dog and great work on everyone’s part in bringing him to where he is now. Also, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience in your content!

This is exactly what Haz means when mastiff breeds seem so lackluster when doing bite work. They are just not meant for it but still very impressive work with that presa.

Ive been at it for a little over 23 years now...Ive seen quite a lot of very good presas, would not label them "Lack Luster" by any means. I have 2 that are for dual purpose use (Apprehension/EDD, The other Reasonable Force/NDD). The Apprehension dog is easily up there with some of the best grippers and his prey drive is out of this world. Next issue is everyone doing one dimensional "defensive" training as they have no skills and some dogs will rise and look good for their social media accounts 😅 My man does a great job starting in prey and then weaving into defense.

@tannerlibert7024 what's your platform so I can see I'd like to see a top tier presa ngl cuz as far as I'm aware all I've seen are pretty crap

I mean they’re naturally live stock guardians. So. They should be pretty good at it. I’d say it’s more an issue of breeding quality. Not every shepherd, mal, rottie, dobbie etc has what it takes. Not every presa corso boerboel bully pittie etc has it. Some do. Some don’t. Genetics and breeding practices are literally the thing that matters. Is it in them or not. Look at some frenchies. Of course not all. But some of them are serious little monsters and will shred your legs with no hesitation second guesses or questions. That’s been proven by allowing the ones that can to do it for fun more like sport than actual live protection. Obviously a Frenchie is just too small which is the reason for that. But it goes to show even in some frenchies, they still have enough bulldog in them to get after it and mean it.

Livestock guarding does not translate to personal protection. They are two very different skills that share some similarities but they are two very different things

@CatchDog718 livestock guarding and personal protection are very different. Livestock guardians tend to be more indpendent and stubborn. Additionally they are bred to fight off wild animals not humans. Personal protection dogs need to be incredibly trainable, smart, and athletic. Theres a reason why malinois and Dutch shepherds are the best personal protection dogs. A personal protection dog protects a person usually against other people. They need to be athletic enough to run and catch the perpetrator while also having the ability to jump through a car window. The grip and hold you need in personal protection is completely neglected in livestock guarding because you don't need a dog to bite and hold because it just leaves them vulnerable against attacks from wild animals. The obedience to be able to tell your dog to attack and let go at a seconds notice. Along with many complex protection commands. Compared to livestock guardians they were bred to make their own decisions not listen to commands from their handler. Simply put livestock guardians were bred to protect livestock and not humans

It's important to realize many breeds and even lines are slow maturing into that defensive drive and/or confidence.

This is one the best looking mastifs, not just presa, that i have ever seen. Big long head, athletic muscular body and no excessive skin. That being all said, Haz aren't you always talking about how it's all genetic and not the training, this dog failed the courage test completely even besides its owner. In this clip we only see that dog targets the sleeve, not the handler, you said that any dog can learn that.

Doesn’t even look like the same dog! What a difference. He’s definitely a lot more confident than he was when he initially arrived there! It’s kind of what I feel a Pressa should behave like! What a gorgeous boy! 🙏🙌🇨🇦

My Presa is similar to how he was at the beginning, i wanted white fang but ended up with scooby doo 😂 I love my boy dearly and i dont care how he is, im very protective over him as its just me n him in our world, he is very suspicious of anyone and might bite you if your a threat, ive never tested him so i dont know tbh, i just love my Harold the way he is.! Best breed ever in my biased opinion ✌🏻💙✊🏻

That's what presas are like, it takes a long time and skilled handler/helper to get the dog to build up confidence and come forward.

Would love to see a direct comparison between german shepherd and other breeds like this breed.. Like why are they ( gsd) used more, why are they better, than anything other dog other then the greatest dog to ever live the malinois, well that's what everyone says now.

Hahahahahaaha GSD is so much better than a Mal. Especially for protection and police work. I’ve seen Mals bite suspects and the suspect say get your dog off of me. While the suspect with a GSD latched on is screaming for his life. Haz has done plenty of comparison videos and it’s the same result. GSD is a much better all around dog and he goes into the reasons why.

Dont believe this Onyx dude. There's not such thing as breed X is better than breed Y. There is trash and gold everywhere. I've seen more good mals than gsd(because my cycle are more into mals) but i also had a bad(for what i wanted, a dog with a lot of aggression, a good defense, nerves and a territorial behaviour) malinois myself.

Hey Guys Im from Ontario but live in Alberta. Struggling to find a club or trainer in the Calgary area for my 1 year old corso of your caliber. I know what right looks like. We train daily but I want to continue more formally. Any chance you have any recommendations for out here in your network? Love your videos.

I am in Calgary and I work with an amazing trainer. I have two Presa's that he has made into absolute beasts. He works with lots of Corso's as well as other breeds. Stan at Ultimate K9 Bodyguards. Drop me a pm for info or video. I don't post publically because my dogs have a real job, not just sport.
