On NEW JERSEY we have pre-recorded announcements that go over the 1MC during the day, and one of these is an announcement for all restricted and extra duty men to report to the master of arms duty station for taskings assigned to these miscreants, like chipping/scraping/painting. But that’s also from an age when a battleship had 1,500-2,500 billets. Today, we get the job done with scores of volunteers instead. If you’re know of a museum ship and there stories interest you, go volunteer…however often you can. There IS a place for most anyone of most any skill and capability.
