If you put fresh strawberries in a big bowl of cold water & add 1 table spoon of vinager it cleans & gets rid of any bugs. Only needs to sit for 2 mins and then rinse with cold water. Really works to clean them.

Jinnie-I’m so grateful for your videos, as you make everything look so easy! I receive almost $220 in food stamps and get a $75 Walmart card through my healthcare. That’s a lot for 2 people-plus my roommate goes to the food pantry( they are getting low). Thankfully, my son got me a Costco membership for Christmas last year & they take stamps, so my freezer is stocked. I do have a low cash issue, that’s why me & my BFF share an apartment! We did get a small camping grill and a large cooler on wheels, I was able to get some small tanks of propane, as I’m just 2.5 miles west & north of St Pete in Florida & we must be prepared for hurricanes by June 1. I have 2 cases of pint jars & 1 case of quart jars I bought last summer & extra lids, but can’t afford a canner & scout the local thrift stores but no luck. I think water bath is the way for me to go. Thanks for showing how easy this is to do!

I know this would be an extra step and would cost an extra dish, but why couldn't you have a separate plate or casserole dish that has sugar in the bottom and you drop several strawberries in it and gently roll them in sugar and then place them in the pot. This way the berries would be completely covered in sugar, and they wouldn't get mashed in a pot when trying to stir them.

I even re-dug the whole patch looking for the crowns and only found a few dead dried up ones. My best guess is moles, rats or voles feasted on the plants those past winter as I found bunches of holes. Very very frustrating, not to mention expensive to replace.
