I’m not a member and missed the open house, but walking along the grounds, you definitely feel the presence of God, I can only imagine what it feels like to be inside.

I think about Revelation 21 when John sees both the Father and the Son and specifically records that there was "no temple therein." I think about John's description of what he saw in those verses and realize that the Temple is the closest thing we have to that experience on 🌎. It's an amazing feeling. I hope that you will seek to experience it for yourself.

I grew up seeing the temple as I passed it on the beltway. I went to the open house because I was super curious. I have to say I was surprised at how sort of plain it was inside. The exterior looks very fancy but inside it’s pretty muted. I suppose that’s sort of in line with how Mormons live their lives. As I expected however the members were very friendly and welcoming.

IR relationships getting more and more common these days in western countries. Always makes me think about what the Book of Mormon had to say on the subject
@joeshawcroft71212 жыл бұрын
Same thing as the Bible. There is nothing wrong with IR relationships. But the Lord has always encouraged his children to marry within their faith. Covenants and eternal families extend to all who are willing to follow the Savior.

Why do the old men wear white suits with the older women wear colorful clothing?
@SarahGFryer2 жыл бұрын
Everyone wears white inside the temple. It looks like one or two of the ladies left their white dresses on, and the others changed.
@LiveHappy762 жыл бұрын
Good observation and question! If I'm not mistaken, the approximately 5,000 people who attended the 3 dedication sessions in person, as well as those who attended via broadcast to other area meetinghouses, would have worn their "Sunday best" dress-typically suits, white shirts and ties for men/boys and dresses, skirts with blouses or other dressy attire for women, all in various, colored, personally chosen styles. The priesthood leaders officiating the dedicatory sessions and offering the dedicatory prayer and any other speakers during the dedicatory sessions (Presidents Nelson, Oaks and Eyring led the sessions) would have worn the white suits symbolic of purity in God's presence. At 0:49, one woman, Sister Amy A. Wright of the Primary General Presidency, wears a white dress. I did not attend this temple's rededication but I have attended (I think) 3 temple dedications, the last time I think more than 15 years ago. I do recall some measure of a brief sermon and address being made, instructions and leading in a part called the "Hosanna shout," and then the dedicatory prayer. I don't specifically recall whether more than one person spoke at the dedications I attended, but presume either more than one spoke at this one and/or the others in white at least sat at the front, invited and asked in advance to accompany the one presiding. Now that the temple is rededicated and in use for temple worship and sacraments/ordinances, all who enter past the entrance areas, will change to and wear white clothing in the interior, again, symbolic of purity in God's presence. I hope this helps. Hopefully, someone who attended this dedication will better answer and clarify.
