At an Ensign College devotional, President Dallin H. Oaks of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints outlined five ways students can proclaim truth with love.
President Oaks was joined by Elder Clark G. Gilbert, a General Authority Seventy and Commissioner of the Church Educational System (CES). They also addressed the topics of race and LGBTQ issues.
Hundreds of students attended the devotional at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Thank you for addressing the balance we as members of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ must have, between kindness towards others and standing up for our Religious convictions. Thank you President Oaks and Brother Gilbert. ❤️

Wow! Is this a new pattern in teaching? Team-teaching has been a powerful tool for the Spirit to work on individuals wanting to know the truth, just Alma & Amulek approach.. They simply need to be one to make this happen.

It is so difficult to understand the challenges of our day, and sometimes of our doctrine. We are so blessed to have the gift of the Holy Ghost to give us the relationship with God that we need to feel safe, validated, and worthy. Whomever you are, you are so loved and cherished by Jesus Christ, our Savior! Thanks President Oaks and Elder Gilbert for your testimonies!

To contrite sinners they spoke in love, but direct. It’s only with the hypocrites that they get harsh. The people who think they are righteous, but are full of sin.

@@christophertolman7023 there doesn’t seem to be a lot of ‘contrite’ness in many of these social justice movements today however.

Do church leaders realize that some of the "fairness for all" legislations they're supporting make it illegal for a therapist to encourage a child to find peace and acceptance in their own body? Under the guise of banning conversion therapy, many of these bills would bar a therapist from helping a child feel good about their body and born gender, and under the law, the therapist would have to be neutral to or go along with new gender identities including to the point of hormone blockers or surgery. This is present in the bill the church supported in Arizona. I love this gospel and sustain the brethren. However, I cannot turn a blind eye to the evil that is present in these bills and movements. And I myself am same sex attracted. I pray that the brethren may be informed about what's really going on with some of these bills, and the permanent and irreparable harm it can cause to children.

@dfre I heard some similar points regarding the "fairness for all" legislation. If I understand correctly the same law applies to therapist in the State of Washington. I'm sure you're also aware that the points you bring up apply to therapist that are employed by the Church well fair services. If I'm wrong please point me in the right direction.

It's definitely a spiritual tightrope the leaders of the church are traveling. Biblical scripture condemns outright homosexuality. As members of the church however we need to continue to show Christian outreach and sympathy to those ensnared by the sin

But what even is the truth in this church? It's constantly changing from generation to generation. Should I really be dedicating my entire life to an institution that will simply change its doctrine ten years from now?
@terryslade6240
@terryslade6240 2 жыл бұрын
From "generation to generation?" Holy cow, how old ARE you? I'm an old man, and the doctrine of the church NEVER changes. Yes, some of the procedures change, but the doctrine always stay the same. The commandments of God stay the same. And yes you should dedicate your entire life to this church of Jesus Christ.
