3:40 "God Save The Queen" begins, and President Reagan puts his hand on his heart! Did he think it was the American National Anthem? Probably, but he hung in there with it...and then Thatcher places her hand on her heart during the American National Anthem! Maybe she was returning the favor :)
@matheuspenteado81746 жыл бұрын
It was not a favor by president Reagan, he used to put his hand on his heart during every national anthem. I've just watched a video in which he did the same thing during the execution of Brazilian national anthem in a state visit of then-president General Figueiredo in 1982.

@@Yobbie72 Well, he didn't do that during every national anthem like I thought, my bad. I saw a video in which he didn't do it with Mexican president either. But one thing is clear: by doing or not doing so, Reagan was consistent! lol

For a long time that tune was the de facto national anthem of the US right up until 1931. Yes, it is the British national anthem but it became and remains America, one of the most patriotic songs in the American song book.
