The only reason Trump is doing this and getting away with it is because Trudeau and all our politicians are fools and completely lack any leadership qualities. When Trump first commented about Canada being the 51st state Trudeau should have asked him what he was suggesting and what that would look like. That would have given Trump at least a few moments pause and possibly opened negotiations for a much closer relationship between the two countries and put the tariffs on the back burner. Instead Trudeau and all our worthless politicians went the we will fight you route and an opportunity was missed. I doubt Trump has any serious plan for annexing Canada and a positive reaction would have likely resulted in a much better outcome than we have seen so far. An opportunity missed and there’s no going back now. Trudeau had nothing to lose since he is on the way out and had ten months to get something accomplished and if it was something good he could have become prime minister again. Now all our politicians and the majority of Canadians have taken a fighting stance and followed the example of our fool prime minister. This is what Canada has become, a land of opportunity but no one wants to take the chance on those opportunities. A country of government programs that are designed to control people. The more I think about it the more I think joining the US is what this country needs. We would either get our self respect back and start working and taking chances or the Americans would swallow us whole. I suppose I’m expecting too much from a country where someone can kick your door down kill your family and steal your belongings and you’re not allowed to defend yourself.

I last visited the US (Chicago and Uraba Champaign) to attend my graduation. To tell you the truth I was shocked. During the graduation party we were inspected for guns! after that, when I went to the School store, there were signs everywhere stating that people need to conceal their weapons in the store. Same thing in the Museums I visited. Just imagine this here in Canadda. we dont even NEED to carry weapons. I love Elizabeth May. Why can we not have more leaders with this type of integrity? I often vote Green unless I need to vote strategically, which unfortunately is often. The future seems bleak for Canada right now but I take comfort in the fact that we do have leaders who see clearly and speak honestly, without fear or favour.
