I came across this video last month, and thought it was a great idea. I built this camp shower following your instructions and it works like a charm. I just returned from a 10-day camping trip, and this thing was a game changer! Great for showering, washing & rinsing the dishes, even hosing the dust and grime off the car. One change I made that I recommend - I substituted a rechargeable battery-powered air pump for the hand pump. It took me way too long to get the can up to an acceptable pressure with the hand pump. A $24 air pump solved the problem. A great video, thanks for the idea.

Wow, thanks for taking the time to follow up.. having that convenient rechargeable pump is an awesome idea especially for as little of a task that it needs to be besides pumping it… Shoot me a link to that pump if you have time.

Thanks for this tutorial. I watched it last week and just put it together using your parts list with some variation in the water system connectors that I could find. It does work like you described. I can get about two and a half minutes of constant jet stream from it before it starts getting low. I can imagine using it for a camp shower will last more by using shower mode. I did find that 15 PSI was what I thought was needed for using it as a power washer. My build also has an air leak somewhere so I may not have sealed it as best as I could, but then I can just pump it up some more. Thanks again.

Thank you so much! I ordered all the parts thanks to your amazing, detailed Amazon list (MUCH appreciated) including the Skeptor can/lid. I almost went with the pre assembled lid but decided I should know how on my own to assemble incase of future issues or incase I ever need to order more, it’s saved in my past order list. I’ve seen other versions, your demo and simplicity of parts made it easy for me to go this route, that and it feels safer. The real purpose for me is I have two double coated dogs (Aussie & Husky/Aussie mix) that get messy for too many reasons on the road or at parks, etc. and it’s a nightmare worrying about how to clean them before stepping back into the car. Often I’m trying to wash them at awkward angles and trying to hold a water bottle or heavy bag just doesn’t work. I had a prior Amazon water/shower bag with crappy hose and didn’t have pressure and began leaking in less than a year so it’s time to invest in something that’ll actually work. Thanks again

@@GatorOverland thank you, i just got everything in from Amazon! I do have one question and I may have missed it in the video, how do we depressurize the container when traveling or in between stops? Do we need to let the water out and refill or does the outer mount valve have a way to remove air pressure alone?
@GatorOverland
@GatorOverland 2 жыл бұрын
It’s mentioned in the video @10:00 .. you easily depressurize by putting on a air chuck or depress the shrader nipple with a rock, stick, key, knife.. or Simply loosen the scepter can cap. Shoot me an email if you have any further questions jkhartel3@gmail.com

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment… This build is definitely to the discretion and risk of the user… I have successfully used this configuration in the hundreds of times and no issues… The only real concern would be over pressurizing, which would more than likely bypass the cap gasket before anything Got crazy… I typically don’t pressurize more than 15 psi as advised by JAGMTE. This configuration does work well, but concept is not fit for everyone and that is understandable.

Just watch your video. Great video! Two questions. What length of hose did you use? And if using the hand bike pump about how long does it take to get to 15psi?
@GatorOverland
@GatorOverland Жыл бұрын
I used 10 feet of hose, but you can utilize anything you see fit. The amount of time it takes to pressure up his relative to how much water is left in the tank… If it’s mostly full, it doesn’t take as long… I usually fill with 4 gallons and if I was to pump with the hand pump, it would take about a minute or two… It would be longer if it was more empty… if you want to utilize a standing bicycle pump that would put more air in at a time than the little hand pump, and could still stow away easily, if need be..

Two quick questions: 1. When you place and seal the washer drain valve on the cap, what considerations should we have that effect the final spout placement? 2. Instead of using the 1/2” PVC as a dip tube, could a person use some of the same food-safe hose (that you use for showering) as a dip tube? If yes, any fitting changes to consider when mounting? Thank you so much for sharing!!! I found your video just in time!
@GatorOverland
@GatorOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! 1) Since the drain is 90 deg it should function properly at nearly any angle, but what I would do prior to permanently affixing is tighten the cap and then orientate the drain opening as seen @ 6:10 in the video for easy access of disconnect/connect. 2) yes you could affix a hose, but they tend to float around and be out of position when the water gets low and/or kink, which could construct your flow. But If you want a hose, You could simply do a 1/2” brass or pvc fnpt x barb size of the hose. You may even be able to hose clamp a hose on the fitting I used in the video.

Got any DIY ideas on how to pressurize it manually like the Lifesaver Jerry Can? Want to build something similar to filter water perhaps using the off the shelf ceramic/charcoal candle filters like those used in Berkeys. Not sure if pressure will work on those gravity filters to provide instant water but wanted to see to eliminate a second water compartment and waiting for it to drip.

Great video - I am looking to do a similar project. Just an FYI for the creator or anybody else looking to do this project. While I agree that flexzilla is a great hose for general purposes I would be cautious about using it for drinking water. There is a lot of contradictory information on the web about it saying that it is drinking water safe however it does not have the NSF/ANSI certified logo on the box. If you go to the NSF site, I personally haven’t found any flexzilla products (unless it’s named something else).

One thing I can't seem to gather from all the videos that show the presurized SCEPTER can at 15psi, is how much pressurized water do you get after pressurization? 1/2 gallon, 1 gallon. Any way you can do a video where you show continuous pour in real time? I wanna see how often I need to repressure the tank. This will give me the proper means to repressurize. hand pump would suck but if you were only doing that per 4 gallons, that wouldnt suck as much as if you were re-pumping it every 1/4 gallon.

It sounds like you have an air leak somewhere in your fitting or cap… I do know the JAGMTE caps do not come with an O-ring… If you order a cap from scepter specific it will have an O-ring and that may solve your problem… You may spray your cap and components with soapy water to reveal the leak… I have no problem emptying my can with a 15 psi charge and 4 gallons in the can. Ordered the kit from JAGMTE. Unfortunately they didn't take much care when assembling. There are stickers and thread seal tape rather sloppily attached to the parts and also hanging in the tubing. I would have much rather assembled it myself and taking more care to the details.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out… It seems quality control these days can vary, even from respected brands. The good thing about this assembly is it’s all parts you can get at the hardware store so if you need to fix anything it can be done easily.. let me know how it works for you

@@GatorOverland the only question that came to mind is how long does it take to pressurize the container using the bicycle pump? I try and keep things as simple as possible... thank you!
@GatorOverland
@GatorOverland Жыл бұрын
@@stacky512a it would depend on how much water is left in the tank… Less water would mean more pumping… Also depends on the size of your pump… With that small bicycle pump it takes about a minute or so to get to 15 psi… 15 psi will typically empty the entire jug and/or last long enough to rinse off
@stacky512a

@@GatorOverland only a minute or so? That's actually incredible. I was thinking more like 5 minutes of constant pumping. Thank you for responding. I "liked and subscribed!"

If it’s closer to empty I will take longer.. get a foot or tube bicycle pump to reduce pump time

how long run time do you have if using hose on shower setting? i'm basically wanting to figure out if I can get around 1-2 minutes of total run-time for an actual shower...previous build used an RV pump, but this may be less hassle

That sealant isn't safe for this purpose. "Not intended for continuous underwater use.". The company that makes this doesn't even have a website. I would question the use of this sealant or any silicon that makes continuous contact with food. That said I don't know if there is an alternative solution for this build. Other than for use as non potable.
@GatorOverland
@GatorOverland 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what’s up with the websites right now to be honest… You don’t have to use the sealant, it’s is overkill optional. Prior to this knowledge it is a USDA approved food contact safe sealant. Thanks for pointing that out. We use it as a non-potable water source. conspecmaterials.com/shop/sealants/silicone-sealants/silco-sil-bond-4500-rtv-silicone/

Wouldnt a metal can be better for pressurizing, with a plastic you get about 5 lbs of pressure.
@GatorOverland
@GatorOverland Жыл бұрын
One could assume… I actually tested the max and the O-ring gives way about 40 psi… 25 psi is more than enough to empty 5 gallons of water without re-pressurizing. The plastic that these scepter cans are made of is robust…

Yeah, I wouldn't drink that water with a pvc tube... Food grade silicone tube is better
@GatorOverland

You make a good point for a potable water storage/use… PVC is not generally an issue unless it’s heated, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Please remove your sunglasses, if the sun is in your eyes, change position, have it off your shoulder. People take more notice from someone you can look into their eyes and slow down your speech. Works every time. But great system and I will definitely try it out.cheers Wiz

Not safe. 1 you are adding comp oil to the water. 2 if it is over pressurizes it is explosive.
@GatorOverland
@GatorOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Settle down Rick. This is a dry compressor, no oil involved, and while over pressurizing is possible, the seal leaks at about 25psi.. you have more pressure in a super soaker. Just be mindful and you’ll be clean.. 🤝
