I don’t understand the difference between LFS and LPS. Can you help me understand the difference? Is it lighter, faster and stronger than the LPS? Is that why it’s called LFS...
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing4 жыл бұрын
Yep. LFS stands for “Lighter Faster Stronger”. it was a frame they introduced around 2014. SLP stands for “super low profile”. It is their newest frame they introduced around 2017. The SLP frame was modified slightly last year with the custom lite. The LFS frames hold more line, the SLP frames are more palmable and built for casting accuracy. Hope that helps.

Thinking about switching reels I use to Lew's, I've been all over the place reel wise, and I have always found Lew's to be the most comfortable. Looking to diving into the bb1 pro and the tournament pro, they're perfect for my price point. For the T pro, would it be a good reel to pair with rods I use for lipless and squarebills? Maybe even mid depth cranks? I already have 1 BB1 pro that's on my deep cranking rod and that thing is awesome. Another cool video man, thanks.
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing2 жыл бұрын
The tournament pro is a good choice for lipless and smaller crank baits because of it being available in a 6.8:1, which in my opinion is a pretty perfect in-between, not too fast and not too slow. Overall It’s a strong reel and good for cranking. It will handle mid depth crank baits just fine, but it doesn’t have the torque of a BB1 as you know. Overall it is a tough reel. Feel free to email me in the future if you have any questions. I will do my best to help.

What brought me here is wanting to know what makes the reel on my Mach 1 better or the same as my Laser TSX vs the Walmart Xfinity reel. The combos are $170, $130 & $100. Is there anything that differentiates them from one another?
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing Жыл бұрын
Not real familiar with the details of each of them. Guessing one had magnetic brakes and others might have multi-setting brake. Other than that if one has Winn grips over one that doesn’t will raise the price a bit. They are all graphite frame reels so that part is the same.

I'm looking at either a mach smash or mach 1 speed spool. It will mainly be for Texas rigs just to get used to them. I've got an xfinity but I don't use it much since it it rh and apparently I fish left handed (who knew) got any opinions on either of those or anything better in the same price range?
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing Жыл бұрын
Mach 1 is the better option out of the two because it has a multi-setting brake. That will allow you to fine tune the reel a little more. The Smash is the same reel only with magnetic brakes. Both of these are good reels if you aren’t planning to frog or flip with them and aren’t fishing a ton through the year. The better bang for your buck is the $99 speed spool. It doesn’t have the fancy colors or upgraded brakes but it will last you forever because of the frame. Good luck!
@ZodiacGol3m Жыл бұрын
@Prestige Worldwide Fishing speed spool or mach 1 either have both been looked at and are neck and neck. I've also got the shimano slx xt in mind. Would it be worth the extra $30ish? This will be my all around baitcaster since the other one is rh it is difficult for me to use, so I may end up throwing frogs on it but I don't see myself flipping
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing Жыл бұрын
Not familiar with Shimano - all I use it Lew’s. If you are going to throw frogs you will for sure want a aluminum frame reel. Graphite will torque over time and start grinding gears. All Mach products are graphite

@barry4fish7 күн бұрын
@@PrestigeWorldwideFishingThats not what the web sites say. The specs for the BB1 Pro say “drag out alarm”. So,if thats not an outgoing click, then what is it? Also, the 5.6 ratio does not appear to be available in a left retrieve.

@barry4fish7 күн бұрын
@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing I asked Tackle Warehouse to check it out for me, I have no tackle store nearby.
@barry4fish3 күн бұрын
@@PrestigeWorldwideFishingI have checked this. BB1 Pro has a click drag, so if fish pulls out line against the drag, you will hear an outgoing click. Several videos mention it, so do specs, and even the previous generation of the BB1 Pro has that. Check the schematic on the BB1 Pro, you can see the two different drag washers used to create the outgoing click. In my opinion, every baitcast reel should have it, just like spinning reels have. But I know, most people don’t care, they tighten drag all the way and use their reels as a winch to boat-flip fish, instead of using the drag for its intended purpose, which is to give a big fish line and protect both your rod and line from breaking. The audible drag click is nice because you can tell if the drag is set correctly and alarms you when a fish is taking out line, just like what a spinning reel is designed to do. This is the most important feature for me in ordering the BB1 Pro, and I am not the only one. A click drag is also an important add-on for those modifying their bait casters, ABU fans have done it for years (but kits hard to find for some models), and many of the new BFS reels have this feature already built in.

The superduty LFS is what you want. It is $180. If you want to save a little use custom or tournament mp. Superduty has aluminum frame and side plate on handle side which makes it really strong and built for heavy fish in heavy cover. I don’t know much about dobyns. I use a Lew’s tp1 black rod because it is less expensive and light. You want a light in weight rod so you don’t wear yourself out. Good luck!

@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing Hmm,.. Ok Dawg ,So Would the BB1 Pro Be OK for Flipping n Pitchin Too as a Second Option?
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it for sure has the strength and power for a flipping reel. It isn’t the ideal because it isn’t as palmable because of its wide frame which also cuts down on accuracy. They are built more for throwing big crankbaits because of the spool capacity.

@PrestigeWorldwideFishing4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the superduty wide is perfect for big swimbaits. Holds a ton of line and can hold up to whatever size fish is on the line. Not sure about the rod, but the SuperDuty is a strong reel (aluminum frame and aluminum sideplate on handle side). SuperDuty 300 is even stronger and more palmable, but it is also heavier. Lew’s tested it on redfish with the drag locked down, didn’t phase it... strong reel
@zoso37454 жыл бұрын
Prestige Worldwide Fishing thanks for the response. As long as the wide spool will hold up to the big baits I think that’s what I’ll stick with. Between that and my tournament pro I can throw just about everything that I use. Hard pressed to find a better reel than the tournament pro imo especially for the price
@fearthetruth9743 жыл бұрын
Great info but it bothers the hell outa me because I’ve bought about 6 Lews baitcasters and always ask “which is the best for my money” when buying them as gifts for kids and I usually hear they stopped working a few months later.. I’ve “broken” 2 from BARELY pulling when getting snagged on the bushes by the bank.. they just pop/break at the slightest tug,before I even realize it. So I’m very weary about spending over $200,even $150 would be too much right now. Usually I stay under $80 when it’s a gift that I know won’t be used a lot but more than once I’ve had people tell me theirs broke like my personal reels. They were around $140(my personal). I bought one yesterday for that price and I’m almost regretting it already
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. I own over 30 Lew’s reels and haven’t had one break yet and that’s with never greasing them. $80 and under reels are more likely to break because the graphite frames that can twist with too much pressure. You shouldn’t have any problem with aluminum frame reels. The $99 speed spool might not last long if you are cranking deep divers or catching giant catfish, but overall the $140 and up reels are very well made reels in my opinion. What type of fishing are you doing? Maybe I can recommend reel and gear ratio for you.

Thanks for the walk through. Lews is my choice in baitcasters. Which one is closest to the last years model tournament mb? I like the feel and smoothness of the mb over the mp
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing3 жыл бұрын
You bet! That reel has a cult following. So many loved that reel - me included. The closest reel use to be the tournament pro, until they updated it a year ago or so. I would say the custom (white) would be closest because of smaller frame and has the same breaking system. The custom’s sideplates get beat up pretty easy compared to the tournament mb, but custom has great frame and is super smooth.

Oh man! I thought I was going crazy lol. I have an MB but can’t find it anywhere on Lews site. I have the MP as well but cannot it dialed in like the MB which I don’t even need to use my thumb for until right before my lure hits the water. And it’s several years old! 🤷🏻♂️ I was trying to find the compatible reel. But everyone thought I was talking about the MP or the Speed Spool LFS.
