i'm a person who went viral for my ugly duckling glow-up and i realized that being perceived as "beautiful" just gets you attention which can be good and bad.I did it because people bullied me for being slovenly but now I deal with unwanted sexual attention which is just as bad it not worse. It's like just because I exist people feel the need to harass me

Yung Miami embodies the brand more. She lives that city girl life or rather she pretends online too. JT is the talent but she is not the influencer. Unfortunately in this age influencer outweighs talent. Yung Miami knows she can’t rap so she promotes herself as influencer. JT can rap and I don’t think she feels she needs to do all that. She wants her talent to speak for itself. JT to me seems like she wants to rap and wants fans out her personal life. Caresha can’t rap so she have to do the influencer stuff. My opinion

I genuinely enjoy ice spice however i am slightly concerned with what and who we make super popular. Rap used to be ppl who been wanting to be rappers all their lives, can freestyle and battle rap. No shade to ice spice AT ALL however she said she only been rapping for a year or two? Yikes.. then Nicki co-signing her was interesting especially from a woman who goes hard about “real rap”. This world is so different now. Due to her huge popularity right now Ice can become just a trend and ppl will move on and i hate that for her. I wish being a icon was still important.
@assianeu197 Жыл бұрын
Theory: what if Nicki is fake supporting IceSpice only to sabotage her career like Diddy did to so many people? A lot of great artists are insecure and shady when they turn into producer. Playboi Carti also feels this way to me with Glorilla, love his sound but I don't trust his intentions with herr career.

I think your analysis is brilliant. I love your style and personality. I appreciate your inclusion of a queer black lens and how you covered in detail the impacts of desirability. I do think beauty/aesthetics studies tend to hyper-fixate on women and femmes rather than men and male presenting people leading to a bias in data. Beauty expectations/maintenance include body/size....ie the pervasiveness of disordered eating and of a male lens*. The only thing missing was a definition of beauty but also an analysis of how internalized white supremacy (colorism, featurism, and texturism) impact the beauty hierarchy. Overall, I really enjoyed this and feel like I learned something... I really think your analysis and perspective is so so necessary. I think the culture of desireablity isn't going anywhere...but I think the point of reconfiguration and expansive communities is on point.

JT is gorgeous and very talented. I believe the reason she doesn’t get as much visibility as Caresha is because she seems to be very undeveloped and more consumed by what people have to say about her in the media, whereas caresha seems like she really just doesn’t care she does what she wants and that works for her.

Hello Herby, Thank you for your highly intelligent critiques of society and pop culture. I wholeheartedly agree with you about desirability and the hamster wheel of constantly trying to stay beautiful for the duration of one's life. There are absolutely pitfalls that come with being beautiful .I loved what you said about being beautiful doesn't mean its easier to have partnership. Being beautiful can increase the quantity of prospective parters trying to get with you, but it doesn't mean its easier to find real or genuine love just because you are beautiful. Also, from my own experiences, being in a relationship and having autonomy over my own body and sexuality often presented as an issue with my partner who was terribly insecure with the way I showed up in the world. He thought that I dressed too sexy , and felt that now that I am in a relationship, I should all of a sudden dress demure because, and these are his words, " you got the man now". This presented major issues and eventually led to our demise. Also. often what a partner may want from you based on your aesthetic may not be what you are willing to give. Thank you for this episode. You slay boo!

Which is at play is contextual. There’s a give and take to everything in life

I agree with you on so much and you are GORGEOUS btw, but I can’t let you claim that black trans women are the least protected, that’s simply not true. They suffer from the most compounded phobias , yes. But least protected are and sadly will forever be black women. Black Trans women still fall under the lgbtqia umbrella which falls under the protection of the patriarchy. White gay men will always be the big brother of any lgbtqia member, therefore providing protection under that cloak. Black women just don’t have that power. Ask Meagan Pete. Then ask Da Baby 🤷🏾♀️
