4 years ago I drove from Denver to Chicagoland for a move, with 2 cats. I stayed overnight in Omaha . It was an adventure for me and I was proud of myself for doing this.

In 2001 we took the same route from Washington State to Greensboro NC due to job relocation. We took our time and stopped here and there, mostly states where husband had lived as a little boy. Lived/worked in North Carolina for ten years and loved it. . . . .Southern gals love to pamper themselves so you will likely gain new followers :)

We lived in the southern part of Ms. We moved to the west coast between Eugene and Portland Oregon with 5 children ( I shudder to think of it now) . By comparison I'm only moving 45 miles away but having lived in this area for 54 years, since I was 13, it's a big deal for me. I was blown away when you mentioned you watch Middleaged Minx, Jo Good. I am a person who likes to learn and am always exploring. Good luck on your travels. I did want to comment on your overpopulation thinking because I used to think that too. I thought but there is so much open land. What I have learned is it is not space that is the problem, it is resources. Each person uses diminishing resources and creates waste. I hope anyone reading this will not just take my word for it or anger and disregard but google and get the info.

Hi Kimberly, Some people call what you currently have a Pixie Bob or A-line Pixie. Quick drying, but the main negative, you will find, if you haven't already, it's the perfect length for hair to stick to lip-gloss! Next length is stub pony-tail length, with hairs falling out, which can be considered sloppy-pretty in a casual sort of way, then next, back to your original short bob length. Out of practicality, I need to pull hair back off the face, so I have a medium bob length right now. When it goes too long, I trim it up. Good luck finding your ideal length and a new hair-dresser. One thing with hair, it's forgiving and can always grow out if you don't like it. ❤

Your trip brought back so many memories to me. I have made three trips from Washington to Georgia by myself, one time towing a trailer and another time driving a box truck. Once I had my cat with me when I drove my car and she was not a happy camper. She hid out in the room by climbing into the dust cover underneath the bed and would not come out for any reason. I had to get help from the staff who had to literally pick up the bed and turn it sideways in order to reach her. Another memory I had when I got lost in the Ozark mountains of Missouri when towing a trailer. I am not very good and backing a trailer up when I had to turn around. Everyone always commented how brave I was, but for a single woman I didn’t have a choice at the time.

Welcome home to Aiken. I know you're going to love it here. My husband made that loooong road trip 5 years ago from Cedar Crest, NM. Two cars with walkie talkies to keep in touch, two cats (who don't like each other) in one hugh travel carrier, with a litter box, one Scarlet Macaw in another hugh travel cage, one African gray parrot in a travel cage, and two parakeets in a cage. We made only one stop in Atlanta because we couldn't keep our eyes open. I had all the animals, my husband had a truck, packed with some items we couldn't fit in the seven Pods and, he was pulling a trailer packed with boxes of dishes, pots and pans, any whatever. We stopped at a campground that had small cottages for rent that allowed pets. there was one double bed and a set of bunk beds. We slept on the double bed (without sheets) and all the pets were placed on the bunkbeds. We were exhausted from the days and nights of driving; but, I felt like were were sleeping in the zoo. The cats (remember, they don't like each other) kept hissing and growling, the macaw kept making whining noises, and the African knows how to make trickling water sounds. In the morning, we put all the fur and feather critters back in my car. and headed toward Aiken thru Atlanta....the worst traffic ever. Thanks for letting me share our 3 day adventure....I will never do it again...LOL. So glad you made it to your Aiken home safe.

When you went through the edge of Wyoming into Nebraska you were only about 2 1/2 hours north of me. Lots of open fields in my area too. Most people think Colorado is only mountains and skiing but over half of the state has farm ground and ranch land. Glad you made it there safely! Look forward to seeing your new home!

I am so glad you made it safely. I think you can count yourself lucky that your car wasn't broken into while at the various hotels. I live on the Kansas side of the Kansas City area close to the state line of Missouri and Kansas. It is a well known fact in this area that the people in Missouri are terrible drivers. And the Missouri roads have a lot of pot holes. Thanks for taking us on your adventure. You were very brave. I am sure it helped having the fur babies with you to keep you company.
