Sometimes it definitely seems seasonal when I run into something similar STN/RTN. Most sensitive recently were all my Millepora but everything else is fine which is crazy.

Great stream. Enjoyed the dialogue and insights. I read the AquaBiome article again. I’ve had my tanks analyzed by them for a while now. Jim - what was your Melafix dose per gal or liter? Very interesting time to be in the hobby.

For the torch dip, it was 10mL/1L. 15 minutes, then relocate to another tank. For tank dose, I used 20mL daily for six days.

Why does your co2 scrubber media not change colors? When I run the scrubber in recirculating mode, I also do not get any color change but ph drops after about 8 days. Without recirculating, color change is pretty immediate and ph drops after 7 days.

I’m pulling outside air through the media, so there’s not much to strip out. Think of it as running two DI canisters. Additional assurance of getting what you expect.

@@telegraham yes, but why no color change. That’s my question. As it absorbs enough CO2, shouldn’t it change color. Although that may take longer through outside air. That’s what I’m running into with recirculating. Low co2 air is recirculated back into the scrubber. No color change but my media is definitely exhausted according to my pH drop. And it doesn’t seem to extent the life of the media which is supposed to be the benefit recirculating in the first place.

Totally worth trying. I know several with simple setups who are very successful. A dude who has picked up critters from me didn't want to try a Disney. He was concerned he'd spend the money and kill it, so I gave him a Disney. A good one. Now look where I am! I killed mine, and that nice guy has offered to hook me up. That's why hobbies matter.

Google AI or channel comment delete? Using wormwood concoctions that mold in days is probably not a good idea for your reef.

i'm shooting AI as im not sure what your talking about. As for wormwood. No funky mold on mine like Jim had. a bit of a tangy smell though. I know a few reefers who have been doing it long term claiming positive results

@@ReefDudes I vote bacteria over mold. If you know bad milk, you’ll know bad wormwood tea.

@@ReefDudes I referenced a wikipedia article, and quoted text. So maybe that's the issue. Wormwood isn't just one species. Wormwood refers to the common name to a large group of plants, and some outside of the genus. Who knows what people are truly putting in their tanks. I am almost certain that KZ FWS is using something beyond wormwood. Or perhaps it's the right kind of wormwood, processed right way, at the proper concentration.
