I just recently had a dexi scan done and according to the specialist, I have lost 30% in my spine and 25% in my hips since my last one in 2018. I have been a faithful participant in all things iron for about 15 yrs straight as well as a daily walker for well over twenty years. You can imagine my shock. I explained to the Dr. what I actually do daily his response was to me was imagine where you would be if you hadn't done this. This is utter bull 💩 I demanded a battery of blood tests. He assured me that they wouldn't find anything that this just happens and offered me Fosomax. I declined and I am going elsewhere. I am doing this in part because of you guys and your constant advice to seek out answers. You guys really do make a difference.👏🏻

Hi guys! I'm so excited for this episode--I am a coach and have been trying to get my parents who are 69 and my brother to start weight training, as they are retired and noticeably shrinking due to muscle loss. Soon I will have to take care of them.. and if my brother who is overweight does not improve his health, that will include taking care of him too. It's been an uphill battle.. I talk to them about the positives of resistance training and how it can keep them strong and mobile in their old age, and shown them simple exercises like sitting up and down on a chair, or stepping up onto a stair. They have not done the exercises or clicked on any informational links I've sent them. It's because it's coming from me (someone familiar), they won't listen or value what I say. I know THEY NEED TO WANT THIS FOR THEMSELVES, but if I can play this episode for them on their TV, they can at least hear it from an outside authority and believe :) ! Thank you guys! Wish me luck

To your caller who had pain in his back while doing shoulder lifts. You guys did a video a while back where you worked with a doctor who had Sal lay on a foam roller along his spine, tighten the abs so his lower back was touching, and tuck the chin. Then slide the hands up and down along the floor, without lifting the belly. It’s really difficult, but helped me with the lower back arching. Really made a huge difference on my shoulder mobility and shoulder presses.

I was just talking to one of our coaches about the relationship between fitness and mental health. One of the ways that I framed it was how it's natural when you're healthy and can move freely and without pain to be happier and more mentally stable. On the inverse, being unhealthy, you feel constant discomfort, have to work extra hard to move (sometimes even breathe), have to worry more about mortality and critical medical issues, etc. I don't understand how so few people understand this. To me, it's one of the greatest mysteries of our species.

Nothing like 24 years of anorexia though to really hurt your bones. Osteoporosis in my mid 30s already. On the other side now at age 42, and trying my best. Gained heaps of weight and good muscle but I know I need to work at it for the rest of my life. Currently badly injured but back to weights as soon as I’m cleared. Wish the medical field had encouraged me with hope rather than tear me down with fear… I’ll never again get a bone scan. Keep on keeping on, lifting when I can and am injury free, and praying to be pain free so I can start my first Maps program I just bought in a couple months when my leg heals!

My very first client was a senior aged man who had been going to physical therapy for TWO YEARS due to falling and loss of balance. No resistance training history whatsoever. We trained together for 3 months. Afterwards, he reported drastically better balance and coordination with no falls at all. I watched him go from not being able to do a body weight squat without falling backwards to being able to do so without needing a spotter. 3 months of basic strength training provided this man better results over 2 entire years of physical therapy. Lifting weights ain’t no joke son!

I have to get things shipped to me from the U.S. because here in Guatemala things are either not available or, when they are, they are astronomically more expensive. Because I was a dumbass and held off on buying these Yes4All dumbbells (adjustable, 100 lbs each) two years ago, I have seen the price skyrocket from $200 to, as of today, $566. @joshuablair252
@joshuablair252 2 жыл бұрын
For sure buy whey protein, you can get it for 15 bucks at Walmart, two servings of 80 grams of protein in total per day will last you about 3 weeks. Take it with milk. That was the only way I was able to gain muscle as a teenager and my parents did NOT have the money during the 2008 recession and even years after for me to eat anymore than I did. Especially protein. Easiest way to get all your protein needs. You also don’t need 1 gram of protein per lean body mass. You only need .5 a gram to .7 grams. Also if you’re a young teenager or man who is skinny, you need to eat a lot more. Especially skinny dudes, they all swear they eat a lot but don’t gain weight. But they don’t eat a lot at all. They all swear they do. I’ve spent plenty of time with guys who complain about this, spend the day with them and they never can keep up with me. You need constant food intake of some kind to gain weight.

When should you switch grips on deadlift? I've only recently started consistently deadlifting, how do you know when to go from same to alternate grip.
@MindPumpShow
@MindPumpShow 2 жыл бұрын
It's generally best to keep it conventional, however if you get up to a weight where it becomes hard to hold the bar, then a mixed grip can help by stopping the bar from rolling. If you do a mixed grip though, be diligent about alternating which hand is gripping over/under because if you do not switch it will lead to imbalances over time.

45:04 Over time I've grown to accept and even laugh at Adam's privilege and how he makes it seem like it's not a big of deal as many less privileged make certain things out to be, but comparing Mexico's (or any third world) violence and corruption to your own country is just another level. I'm not saying Adam has it easy, I'm saying he has no idea how much harder things can get. I'm glad the other guys are more balanced on this because, combined with the overwhelming levels of poverty, malnutrition and lack of education... Trust me buddy, you don't want any part of this. And I'd much rather die by my own hand than get murdered, or even brutally tortured before my end. My "credentials": I spent age 2-24 in the U.S., and the last 16.5 here in Guatemala. I also have firsthand experience watching my mother and her dependency on pharmaceuticals well before I was born, while I was in the U.S., and to this day. I know it's not the perfect equivalent to what's being discussed here but the subject just leaves a foul taste in my mouth. Also, as far as the girl smuggling ashes in the airport, I'm not sure if this is a possibly related or valid observation but UPS for example (I used to work there) does not allow you to ship ashes or anything biological in the slightest. The only exception were organs for scientific purposes, and that required all sorts of permits.

Been watching you guys for a while now, really interesting talk about bone strength, Follow Jonni Shrieve, he mentioned a similar thing, “train now, & remain stronger later in life” I’ve had 2 spinal operations, double stomach surgery, both hands operated on, been doing progressive overload , on all muscles for a while now , & will keep going 👍🏻

I work at a police department... last year 2 officers were exposed to deadly amounts of fentanyl during an arrest. I could see a vaccine useful in certain situations, not addiction related and why it would be advantageous to the public 🤷‍♀️

Great podcast again. I’m on Adam’s side. Pharmaceutical company’s are in a sense just like a cartel. 👊🏻. They actually don’t care about no one but profits.
