One of the best reactions yet. JL you're crushing it; this one had me howling throughout. Had a blast rewatching the film with the commentary on Patreon and the re-edit onto KZbin was perfectly done. It's absolutely wild that after thirty five years we get a proper follow-up to Predator (that in many ways rivals the original). I have nostalgic affection for Predator 2 but Prey is just a beautifully-crafted film from script to execution. IMO Predator finally has a fitting companion piece for future rewatches, similar to Alien/Aliens and Blade Runner/BR2049. And Naru joins the pantheon of badass women protagonists in genre films alongside Ripley, Sarah Connor, and Sidney Prescott. I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did (especially Naru's character journey and the stunning cinematography; rarely are even big budget Hollywood movies this well-shot and directed these days).

You may have realized it later but I believe the French hunters were the ones that killed and skinned all the Buffalo. Which was a real life thing that made them almost go extinct as hunters hunted them just for their fur. Which I assumed really pissed off American Indians as they didn’t use the whole body just killed them en masse only for their fur.

can't be... The French won't meet a real Comanche till 1743. These will be Light fur traders and Weapons dealers. Quebec won't be fully Colonized with French till 1860, but they had Light traders that traveled west through what is Canada. Remember when your dealing in hides of Buffalo size, you need a Tanner not to far away. Traders in 1801 to 1951 would sell these hides to Tanners. The first Americans will reach almost west with Davy Crockett "1835" Most of the country on the west end and most of Texas was owned by Mexico at that time. Mexico was also at war with Spain, and they both were occupying what is to be the USA. So New Americans traveling through those states, they would be killed. The French traders knew this also, and traveled very light. The movie timeline is incorrect for almost everything we see in it. By 1701 Comanche breed Spanish warhorse themselves. They also acquired Low grade firearms and Iron tools, including Iron head arrows and Iron axes. We have pictures of them on their horses with 2 rifles slung on their backs with long spears, and shields on the side of the horse. I'm not saying none of these Events every happened. I'm saying they did not all happen in the year of 1717. This Fact will bring out the woke in many. {Comanche women never hunted with the men, or go far out on their own} They were the backbone of the Camp\tribe. They kept everything in order at the Camps, including planting food. The only true thing about this girl in the movie, was her being a healer. Comanche women planted many herbs for light medicine.

Feral and inexperienced It's also a fairly young predator considering the species can live thousands of years..As they go on hunts they gain experience and they upgrade their weaponry in turn... That's if they survive there hunts.. Yes that gun at the end is the same exact one in predator 2 given to Danny Glover...Since you just watched the movie predator 2 a couple days ago I'm surprised you didn't catch it... So that means something Has to happen after that... Maybe she takes the weaponry from the body of the predator and learns how to use it that would be kick ass... Well anyway movie of the year for me..Loved it

Obviously he watched this one before Predator 2. The day you upload the video is not the same day you watch the movie. Also, there's a post-credit scene showing a predator ship coming to the tribe. Predators are very protective of their technology, they would not leave any weapons for humans to use. Hence the nuke on the arm.

I feel like something that doesn't get recognized is that this predator also uses what they see as "equal" weapons to make it a challenging fight, it's why it uses two prongs on the snake, hand to hand with the bear, arrows and melee with the native fighters and more advanced weaponry / a bomb with the trappers who are using gunpowder.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The CGI was worse than movies from 30 years ago. Things like mountain lions roaring.....are you telling me that not a single person in the production of this movie was smart enough to know Mountain Lions don't roar. They give the location as the great planes but the Comanche never lived there. Is it even believable that low IQ people in a stone age society could "Outsmart" an alien from a civilization capable of interstellar flight. Lastly the Predator went from a living breathing creature with vulnerabilities to a supernatural being immune to damage. The predator in Prey took 100x more damage than the original Predator and he ignored it as if it didn't happen. This was more like a Friday the 13th slasher film than an actual Predator movie. Lets not forget the MAGIC flower where if you eat a few petals from it you become invisible to thermal sights. Or how attaching a magic string to a Tomahawk turns it into Thor's hammer and it magically returns to her hand on command.

Once she returns to her tribe, bloody and triumphant after vanquishing the Predator, a close-up shot reveals that it's the same weapon seen at the end of Predator 2, set 278 years later in the Los Angeles of 1997

This film is a good reminder that Nature is beautiful and savage -- even without the Predator. I hate seeing the animals get killed, but there is nothing warm and fuzzy about a Predator film. Gorgeous camera work, the Predator design is terrifying, and it's so awesome that this is a Native American cast. Thanks for the awesome reaction

A really cool thing about this movie is how the whole cast was from actually tribes found around the US and that this was the first movie to have full Comanche language dub. It was first made with English and then had them speak Comonche. Really want to watch it with that dub.

The thought that I constantly had going through my head, much the same as you've commented so far (I'm about 13 minutes in at the moment), is how beautiful so many of the shots are. This movie was filmed extremely well and overall was way better than I ever expected it would be. I'd say this is right up there with the first and second movies, although firmly my third favorite of the bunch.

Well he didn’t know she set up his helmet to use against him. He’s so advanced than humans how would he know the intelligence of a human since this is the first time a predator came to earth. Also it doesn’t explain why the predators after this one are tricked by humans. Also she outsmarted him she didn’t fight him like the men did. Also she shot him at point blank ranged. She studied the predator she didn’t go head up with the predator. Also his was 300 years in the past they studied the weaponry we had and they didn’t have the plasma castor cuz it’s overkill.

15:25 The date is incorrect for the skinned buffalo, the French won't Meet or even be near a Comanche till 1743. The French deal in only small fur trade at the time they meet Indians. What killed them buffalo won't kill them till 1801, which is the America settlers. These killings won't happen near the Comanche till 1845.This is because Mexico owns more of the western lands not the New American's.1801 the buffalo were hunted in the East to middle eastern territory, nothing near the west till 1845+. Davy Crockett will be the first to make it that far and die 1836 at the Alamo. The people that were in the west were Spaniards and Mexicans. They were fighting a long war, which in turn caught up the Indians. It's these wars and trades, that give the Indians old flashpan guns and powerful horses. The movies time line is incorrect for the Indian tech, and what they should have. Your common Comanche near 1701 had old school long rifles, not bored. they had long spears and have made enough trades and spoil victory's to obtain Hard iron. By this time they were fierce Chargers, with long spears and Rifles. They're famous for charging camps, and raids with their new weapons. If i made this movie i would have removed the 1717 time line and just leave it open to thought.

The Revenant is another one to check out for its beautiful natural scenery, it was shot entirely in natural light (Though it is an incredibly brutal movie) I really enjoyed Prey as well. I absolutely love the setting and narrative backdrop. It was also somewhat shocking how well made it was considering The Predator was so terrible What foreign invaders and poachers did to native lands and peoples is one of the worst acts of genocide in human history (out of far, far, too many)

One of the rare instances where a sequel surpasses the first film IMO. Now...if only the Alien and Terminator franchises can take a page out of this book.

This movie had no right to be as good as it is. I mean, I hate when people say that shit for movies or games etc. - but the care and love that went into making this from the director to the actors is just incredible. The cinematography alone is top tier, the audio mixing (and music) is amazing. Dan Trachtenberg directed this, he also directed 10 Cloverfield Lane which was his first director's job for a film and is another banger of a movie. I know this comment is 10 months old (still going through older videos lol) but I'd highly recommend 10 Cloverfield Lane as well. Though the Cloverfield Paradox not so much.....

I love that movie, my girlfriend happens to be a Native American from the Navajo tribe and I especially felt relieved Naru’s dog Sarii survived, that dog is Naru’s best friend
