I believe that the pistol in "Prey" returns in "Predator 2" (1990). Other worthwhile Predator movies are "AVP: Aliens vs. Predators (2004) & "Predators" (2010). They give you more insight in each movie.

then how did the predator captain of that ship (in predator 2) give the pistol to danny glover 300 years later after danny defeated his warrior? it physically cannot be the same pistol. it could be a similar one, implying that the predators have been coming to earth quite often for many hundreds of years. and it also implies that they (the predators) don't always come back alive, hence the trophies given to the human victors.@@r2dnel i know that the predator comics from black horse comics back in the day probably give a lot more back story to the predator race, (especially for the first 2 or 3 movies) and some of those issues might flesh out the various other movies a bit more.

She looks up to the women and wants to be like them, before, but now she looks at her and wants to be like her in such a different light, with so many different possibilities for what she can be. The reason why it's so good, is because it follows the lore of the Dark Horse Predator comic book series which were awesome. In those series they had different Predators fight against warriors of various cultures during historic times. Had one fight a Japanese Samurai, had another one fight a pirates in the Carribeans, and had another one fight a South African Zulu Warrior. The Predator that fought the pirates in the Caribbeans Isalnds was actually the hero of that story.

@suproliver
@suproliver Жыл бұрын
@mappes1 Yeah. The Predator was horrible. I agree. It was an insult to Predator fans. Of course, there are always those who say they enjoyed it, but they are likely easily entertained with anything that has some degree of action. As a Predator fan, the formula is right there in the original film. You introduce a being not just extraterrestrial but a monster. What makes Predator great is not that he's alien and has advanced technology. It's the alluring mystery about him. The trick is less is more. The less you know about the Predator, the scarier he becomes. But it's also twofold. Because we know so little about the Predator, the more we want to know what makes him tick! Each new film should introduce something new to help us learn what makes him tick. But with each new thing comes even more unanswered questions. Predator should always remain as a scary, taunting, horrific, gore monster. Not about Predator finding autistic kids as the secret hope of the universe, with a horrible CG Predator, Predator cloaking tech you can swallow, Predator mask you can wear for Halloween to blow the home of the mean kids who made fun of you, Predator mutts that chase sticks like this was a comedy movie, a group of ragtag bickering dudes making jokes, Predator ships and shields like this was Star Trek, and finally the Predator Iron-Man suit in the end. Yeah. It's a slap in the face to the franchise. Prey definitely elevated it. Brought back some degree of that Predator formula that made him something to be feared again. -OG

You may have noticed that this Predator looks noticably different from previous ones. According to Prey's concept artist, Feral comes from the desert clans of their homeplanet, so their build is taller and leaner, they have thinner dreads that aid in temperature-regulation, and darker skin to absorb sunlight. Their mandibles are also more robust with broader teeth because the idea is that they primarily feed on bone-marrow by literally crunching bones with their mouth. The Jungle Yautja from the previous films are the lions, while the Desert Yautja are the hyenas.

I live in the mountains of Idaho. Here the common term used is mountain lion or lion. The slang term is just "cat". They are also referred to as cougars, pumas, catamount, etc. by region. In Florida the term used is Fla. panthers. I have 2 young pine trees about 20' from my dog's fenced yard that have been used by "cats" for scratching posts while looking toward my house & dog's yard. I have found deer & elk parts left behind on my property. I found a black bear cub hit by a car & took it to a rehabber I know. It's all just part of living in the mountains. Best general advise, "Don't run."

They were correct it would not do good, due to to many people know history better then hollyperv. The Indians of 1710 had Light iron weapons and Warhorses\flash pan guns. They also were using the iron tip spear as a thrusting weapons on horses. Stone hatchets were a thing of the past, iron was much sharper. The year in the movie would place the Indians with low iron age forged weapons and flintlock weapons. This is because of the Raids and light trade they did with Mexican traders. The buffalo skinned scene in the movie was also at the incorrect time line. French traders would not be in what is known as the states today, until just after Davie Crocket. hunting of buffalo started from 1801 to 1910. from 1870 to 1911 they were hunted to death almost . French traders delt in beaver and rabbit pelts and were located more to the eastern area of Canada. It's not till they see the profit of buffalo hide being skinned and sold by the Colonist, Do they come down and form what is called caravan hide collecting. The French fur trade in North America was focused primarily on beaver. Bison mostly lived further west and south, not where French fur trapping developed. The loss of bison in both western Canada and the western US happened almost entirely in the 19th century when settlers moved into the western plains area. Most if not all Indian tribes do not allow women as hunters. These Indians in the movie should have had the first flash pan musket made rifles. While tribes still used the bow as tradition and sport, they used the gun for larger game .The Assiniboine traded guns to the Indians as early as 1703, by which time nomadic tribes from the south possessed warhorses. During the Spanish Mexican war, the Indian's would acquire modern weapons from easy raids and teachers of trade 1810-1823. Our Indians in this movie would have known how to fire a gun, and would not be using stone arrows or hatchets. Knowing all of this, and if it was placed in the movie. I think the Indians in numbers would have given the predator more trouble. The gun in the movie that she can't fired belongs to a predator, and should not be anywhere near the west area of North America or Timeline. The Raphael Adolini 1715 flintlock pistol is owned by the Greyback Predator, remember what they year was in the start? "1719" The gun is a time traveling weapon i guess lol. Everyone is trying to figure that one out.. I call it a movie mistake that's all. Granted this movie did get crap about it being historically false, even though it wasn't present as a historic movie. I think with todays people and how their mind is looking for incorrect things and political preaching. This movie would have been hit hard if given the full trailer and movie theater treatment. They would have focused on the fact, women did not Run war party tribes.

It had nothing to do with them thinking it would do poorly. It was produced by Fox prior to their acquisition by Disney and due to licenses they had at the time, if they had released it theatrically, once it went to streaming it would have gone to HBO/Max, rather than Hulu or Disney+. Rather than give WB revenue, they opted to go direct to streaming on Hulu.

That's interesting about the glowsticks. I remember one year at summer camp, me and all of my bunkmates got a hold of a bunch of glowsticks and broke them open and poured them all over each other and even put some of the liquid in our mouths. Every night, they'd send 2 counselors a male and a female to go to each section of the camp and check each cabin to make sure all the campers were safe and in their bunks. When they came to our cabin, we all jumped out of our beds and scared the crap out of the counselors checking our cabin. We never got sick, and it skin never burned. This was in the mid-90s, too, so I'm sure the glowsticks were a lot less safe. On another note, you should watch Predator 2 next. There's one small part that ties into this movie, and it's better to have it fresh in your mind when you go to watch it.

25:28 - But with the thermal camera it all clicked. It's like exposition thru visuals instead of dialog, which is the correct way. Notice how it works for audiences for whom this is their first entry into the franchise. The get that "this stuff lowers your temperature", but might miss it so they come back to that once or twice. And they're shown that the alien hunter has thermal vision. THEN, they put it all together here, so there's a reason to have shown the herb thing previously. That's what I call a tight script!

Hi Shanelle, I love the reaction and the movie, but I had one technical gripe - in the sections where it's just you on camera, there's a noticeable 'hum', like electrical feedback, or possibly a computer fan. You might want to check your cables aren't loose, or alternatively run the audio through a filter in something like Audacity. You can select a section of sound, then tell the computer to filter it out. I do that when I'm recording in summer and don't want my AC to be on the recording. Thanks for your content through the year.

I don't know if they're going to actually do this, but I read that the next Predator movie is going to be set in feudal Japan with Samurai. I'd be happy with just about any culture set in pre gunpowder times, but Samurai taking on Predator would be awesome. I wonder if they'll get ninja to try fighting it, only to find out their stealth techniques are useless against heat vision.

I feel like the screenwriters' pitch for this movie was Stands With A Fist vs. Predator. The main problem is that it seems the only research the writers did amounted to trying to remember elements of Dances With Wolves from when they last saw it 20 years ago. Not only that, but Dances with Wolves is set about 150 years after Prey. A lot of what happens in this movie is either anachronistic or just plain silly.

@MetastaticMaladies I think it's fair to say that Native Americans were killing bison in much larger numbers in 1719 than the Europeans were, and nobody was killing bison only to take the hide and let the rest go to waste. Also, Native Americans had better relationships with Europeans at this time - especially with the French, who had a markedly smaller population in North America than the English. The protagonist's iron headed tomahawk was most likely manufactured by some European blacksmith and passed on to a Native American in trade. It seems to me that the portrayal of the French trappers and the inclusion of the dead bison give the wrong impression to the audience.

This is my favorite of the entire Predator series. I feel like this one has a growth in our protagonist, and it's because everyone underestimates her, that's what gives here the upper hand. Taabe even says, you see what I miss. Also, as a First Nations person, It's cool to have the culture represented. And, Amber Midthunder was magnificent in this role. I was unable to see her at the last comic-con that made it through our city. I would've liked to have met her and told her how amazing she was in this movie. It's also just an awesome movie in general, not just a good Predator movie.

Sonny Landham’s character “Billy” in the first film is Native American. He has the same medicine pouch around his neck. This retroactively implies that he is a descendant of Naru. Possibly growing up with stories of his ancestors slaying a “wendingo”. Hence the line “We’re all gonna die”. I’ve heard that Prey II is to be set in feudal Japan. However I’d love to see it set in medieval Europe, with the Predator inspiring the story of “The Green Knight”. Knights fighting off a “Magical” adversary that bleeds green blood.

They toyed with including a horse named Chopper just so someone could say "Get to the chopper," but thankfully decided that would be a step too far.
