Here in the UK every time I go to the Grocery store prices have increased, it's the same in any Country I'm afraid. But after my several trips so far to the Philippines I noticed right away that food is expensive, in relation to salaries there it's ridiculously expensive, But it's swings and roundabouts, you can get a jeepney ride for 15 peso, or even a 12 hour bus trip for 1000 which compared to other Countries is a small fare, haircut for pocket change etc etc, Overall it is a very cheap place to live (for expats on a pension and or savings) I guess when you been there a long time you just think in Peso, everything in time seems expensive lol

In 4 years,our simple survival cost ,,,no house pmt,credit card or car pmt,,no debt at all to survive has increased $14,500 a year USD..So no matter how you slice it,,Philippines is far cheaper than here in Ohio.
@AForeignerinthePhilippines11 күн бұрын
@@ricksdestinationcebu yep, living a different simple lifestyle is the key. In the US it seems every life is lived in debt which inevitably brings with it STRESS and often anxiety. Living in the Philippines carries with it a learning experience from seeing how Filipinos know how to live happily without the luxuries and conveniences we take for granted in the West.

In Canada “they” recently opened a massive cricket processing facility in London Ontario. The crickets are turned into a powder and added to various foods (mostly foods no one would ever suspect) under a different name.

@@jackblock777 reading the label on all processed foods is mandatory. All " Fast food" is suspect -- I've stopped eating fast food for the most part -- you can't know what is going into it. How does McD make french fries that last for months without going off? 😳

I just spent 6 hours today shopping and I for a fact know the price of food has gone up. I use to pay for a pack of 6 boneless skinless chicken breast about 8 dollars now for that same pack they want 18 dollars. I paid 3.99 a pound of prime rib now they want 14 dollars a pound for prime rib. Use to be a 1.99 for pork now it is 8.99. I bag of chips use to be 2 dollars if that and not it is over 7 dollars. Bacon is now 12 dollars a pound yet it isn't even a real pound it is only 12 OZ . so pretty much a buck an oz.

@danelionheart588110 күн бұрын
@@AForeignerinthePhilippines Sadly the cost is not going down and I don't think it ever will. The only true way to bring the cost down is to stop buying the things that are over priced. Not long ago I use to pay 1.25 for a can of really great soup called Progresso . Then the Virus cough cough hit and that same soup went up to 3 dollars a can. I don't drink soda but my friend does and he was telling me he use to buy a 12 pack of 12 oz cans for less then 5 dollars not it is 10 dollars for the same soda.

Yes we do have the power to affect prices. Remember Bud light saga. Buyers choosing not to buy caused a major re think in that company
@danelionheart588110 күн бұрын
@@AForeignerinthePhilippines I know I am one of the people that went from Bud Light to Coors Light . We have the power to control to price most don't know it but if you don't buy it then it does not sell. There is always going to be something to take place of everything and the cost will get cheaper knowing they can't sell it for the high cost they are asking. Years back the price of pork was so high people said screw this and raised their own pigs for so much cheaper plus they sold their own pigs making a profit. Then when they found out the people were not going to fall in their trap they had no choice but to bring the cost of Pork so low that it would be cheaper to buy pork then to raise it.
@AForeignerinthePhilippines9 күн бұрын
It's a question of 'unity' between buyers. They must unite for maximum power. That said in the case of the Bud Light, the picture of the prancing fool on the can was enough to do it.😁

I would always recommend buying anything fresh from the wet markets, you can always get a good deal from them. I'd save the grocery trips for longer-lasting products such as canned foods and so on in the supermarkets.

Meet you need to grow your own. A lot of vegetables can be grown or bought locally Coffee, fresh beans I’m a connoisseur retired captain drank coffee all over the world the real stuff the instant stuff to me that’s not coffee I like it fresh and black sometimes I’ll put a little cream or fresh cream, and cinnamon or vanilla . Butter I’m definitely butter real butter and bread guy andI get what you say about cold leftover food room temperature. The corruption has spread with all the processed food that people don’t readlabels processed foods. They are introducing to Philippines just to name one nothing is what it seems most people don’t take the time to read labels and discover what’s really it’ has in it. A lot more to take care of these days. I’m sure you and I will get along fine. Both old-school guys with a realistic approach to life. Canada won’t even take our cornflakes. They took a box from Canada and one from the US and found it out by the same manufacturer totally different ingredients. Preservatives. Developed nations in the world won’t take fruit meat. Gatorade, granola bars, all of its been tainted just here in the United States. Imagine that, well my friend I look forward to speaking to you personally and your beautiful wife. My fiancé lives on the isle of Leyte but rendezvous will be in Cebu and will decide where we want to live later. She is college educated works for the municipal government. Definitely not a gold digger has asked me for five cents in five years otherwise send her money to go shopping get a phone, no mattress shoes, you know women loves shoes a lot to talk about. I wish you the best that life has to offer. Oh by the way I had to track down my eye surgeon from nine years ago. She did the left eye top of the field lectures and universities, young woman late 30s I would an anointed surgeon. One other doctors hear her name eyebrows go up quite impressed. Only God can do that with that gift cost. Thank goodness I have insurance US$51,000! What’s the price of our eyes worth. God bless. Looking forward to speaking with you farewell.
