Our Lord Jesus Christ said "you can do nothing without me". I remember I used to go to Church daily for a prayer and sermon service. I never missed 1 day in 2 years and I thought to myself "Is there any power that can stop me from coming to Church everyday?" and felt pride in not missing 1 day in 2 years. I swear to God the next day I struggled so much to come to Church and all the joy in coming listening to the sermon and praying is gone. To make the story short for 2 months I did not go to Church because I could not. It is like I am not invited anymore. My heart gone cold and I could not do anything. I repented and started to attend again. Now I am not proud if I attend the Church or pray because it is just God allowed me through His mercy. Forget doing anything, you cannot even cross yourself without God's help. If God let go of His protection even for a second we are dead. We are alive because of God's constant Love and Mercy.

My dear brother in Christ from Ethiopia, what a wonderful testimony. I had the same experience a year ago and still paying the price. Thinking I am the only one who can go to kidase early, thinking how I managed to "have" the sharp focus in liturgy. Few months after , I lost all. Now my thoughts are scattered like the grain in the ground. I nearly listen to 15 mints straight. May God's mercy heal me and also heal others. Be Blessed!!!

I know exactly how you feel. My husband who was formerly as lapsed Christian who saw prayer as useless, has totally changed. Over the last few years the change in our lives and marriage was really like night and day. Now we do Bible study every night followed by watching a sermon, and then prayer. I was just telling my cousins about this on Sunday at a Memorial service for my uncle when that night events transpired so that I couldn't make it home, and we did not get to have our Bible study. Even when something has become a habit, we have to realize that we are pedalling a bike and God is holding onto the back. Even though the training wheels are off, and we think we are doing it ourselves, we are not. God is holding the back of the bike. Every now and then He will let go, and allow us to fall over and skin our knees so that we remember that He is back there. We are never doing anything alone. Ever

@@bezagebremedhine5102 that is right, the holy fathers say pride is the most abominable sin that God hates. It says God resists the proud. When you feel like God is resisting you it is time to check your pride. We just change our mood or behaviour but God is unmovable and the same always. God always hates sin and always love righteousness. If you are in darkness it is because you are away from the sun, not that the sun is gone. God always stand the same unchanged.

@@wmnoffaith1 well said, God gives grace to the humble. All we need to have is a pure heart and childlike simplicity. If you see all the stories in the Bible, God does almost all the work, we just need to agree and follow His orders. The biggest enemy of us is ourselves, thinking we are somebody and think we know. The holy fathers say we were expelled from heaven because of arrogance and pride, the only way to return is through obedience and humility, that is what our Lord Jesus did and made sure we understood the point by washing the feet of His disciples.

Father Spyridon I appreciate and I'm very grateful to our lord for having you present these soul saving lessons; However this lesson on pride is to me the most vital and the one that I have to constantly remind myself of. The truth be that of all the sins, this is the one that is deeply rooted in us, the one that we are conditioned to act upon. This is the one sin that can very easily turn to self love, the hardest to recognize because it sits on a perch waiting for you during moments when you are doing good works. God love you all.

To beat their pride and to resist the temptation of being revered by the people these Saints purposely acted insane, dragging their own names and reputations down to the level of beggars and madmen, all while still performing miracles and good works. May the Lord take my pride and arrogance so that I may laugh like the fool I am!

My mother is so prideful that when I tried to have her listen to these words she immediately got angry calling me a self righteous person, she literally thinks everyone is talking about her and that everything is about her, she immediately started fighting with my other family members as well. She is destroying any semblance of faith in our family. She is a different person everyday and she won't put God first and listen before speaking out in anger, I Pray that she looks inwardly and will acknowledge her strong sense of pride. In her eyes she does absolutely no wrong. I'm forced to not talk about God because she turns it into hate! I have no idea what to do besides leave her on her own without the gospel. Her pride is so strong and blinding that when pride itself get's brought up it she attacks others and brings up their problems putting herself higher than them. It doesn't anger me, it only makes me sad.

I had a simillar situation with a family member and i came to understanding that the best I can do is simply love them. I hear that one saint said, i forgot who, that its not blinds mans fault God didn’t give them eyes to see. And that made me realize that my expectation of the person to be different was not rational. Also I think the best way to show her the right path is to grown in faith, knowledge and love for God yourself , and your light will bring her closer to God. Also sometimes things need to be as they are, and only in the end you see why did they have to happen the way they did, its all Gods will in the end

All of the points made in this video are excellent, to be sure. However, as others have indicated in other comments, pride can also manifest itself as false humility. You see this with some people who think they're the "chief of sinners". They're worse than everyone else. They think that their particular sin or sins are so heinous that they are beyond God's forgiveness, so they stop coming to church, going to confession and receiving the mysteries and they backslide into a life of antinomian abandon. Either that or they adopt eccentric spiritual practices that they think will obtain for them some sort of special grace or mercy. These are the kinds of people you see on KZbin promoting conspiracy theories involving Jews/Freemasons/Globalists/Lizards/take your pick and predicting the future. They think they're "on fire for God" and "winning souls to the kingdom" when in fact they just look ridiculous.
@dondon33415 жыл бұрын
And then there's the kind of pride that spurs one to condemn those with zeal and critiisze everyone who tries to do anything for God as "proud". The tricks of the enemy are sneaky indeed!

What is Chabad Lubavitch Father Spyridon ?
@harounal-rashid57765 жыл бұрын
The Lubavitchers are a group of Hasidic Jews named after a town in Russia where their leaders used to live (they're now based in Brooklyn, New York). 'Chabad' is another name they use. It's a Hebrew acronym that represents some of their more important spiritual teachings. The Lubavitchers have established 'Chabad Centers' all over the world to provide teaching and hospitality to fellow Jews.

Also, isn’t that what fuels the world of today? Accomplishments and feeling prideful of it so that you can do more and advance. Without it, don’t I just become a vegetable? “Useless” I’n societys eyes. I’m struggling with that very thing. Society wants something very specific of me. I am aware of it and I lean towards spiritual purity. But you must be a bit corrupt to participate in society. I need to participate to survive. I need to make money as much as I feel the need I reject it. I don’t have the option to live in a mountain. What do I do??
