If I am a responsible buyer who never returns goods or bothers support, why should I pay double to cover people who do? AliExpress cuts out all that overhead. Alhough they are less attractive now because they charge VAT after a new EU law was passed, and the customs might charge it again.

Thing is, what you are paying for extra is fast delivery and swift replacement if broken in a warranty period rather than paying less but waiting on the slow boat from China to hit stateside. I imagine too that stateside a lot of the profit is eaten up with import taxes, sales tax, state tax, postage costs so its prob not such a wide profit margin as one would expect. Aliexpress has opened a major set of states based warehouses so it does pay to shop around but also Aliexpress can be a devil to do business with esp on returns, caveat emptor always

He was a car salesman, he knows how to sell without you realizing you are being overcharged and oversold. His markup is literally insane and well above the national average for wholesale to retail. I bought the NF.Grind which he claims can last forever on a charge and can drill, grind and cut. Its literally so weak and has such little torque you can barely touch the spinning tip with your finger and it stops dead. Its literally easier to scrape a trace with tweezers then it is to use this shit rotary tool. Also you only see on his channel short circuit repair and port replacements. Anything else he deems a nofix and charges customers 100$+ bench fees just for looking at their device. Read his actual reviews, He probably only repairs 10% of the devices that come into his shop but yet can afford a 2 million dollar house.

The national average markup on electronics from wholesale to retail is 9%. A 50% increase is even unacceptable especially when it comes to the quantity he sells. Hes moving hundreds of thousands of pieces of merchandise. For a content creator that has less then 400k subscribers hes now a multimillionaire that can afford to upgrade his shop twice in the last 3 years and buy a 2 million dollar house in California. Considering there is american businesses selling american products for reasonable prices that can barely afford to keep their business open. Business is business man. They might seem like pretty steep price margins but honestly they're REASONABLE asf, most people are doing at least 5x return on electronic products. Considering they give support, plentiful info, and already imported products the prices aren't *bad*. If you want to go they solo way and order direct from China, option is always there but you will have to figure more things out on your own, weird or missing info or specifications on products, longer shipping times, little to no support sometimes.
@canwefixit8129
@canwefixit8129 Жыл бұрын
Not sure where you get your facts from but they are completely uneducated. 5x return on electronics? Electronics in general literally have one of the lowest markups of any products manufactured because there is so much competition it wouldn't sell at high markups. You don't see best buy purchasing laptops wholesale for 200$ each and reselling them for 1000$. The national average of electronics from wholesale to retail is literally only 9% which you would know if you did any research. If you think a 500% markup is REASONABLE and that most people are doing it. Please let me know of any products you wish to buy and i will give you a great deal at only a 250% markup. "Considering they give support, plentiful info, and already imported products the prices aren't *bad*" NorthridgeFix is not going to provide technical support in any way. Plentiful info? No just false claims and product hype. Imports? If you think there is added import fees and paperwork you're wrong. AliExpress can literally sell you a product for 1$ and ship it for free from China to your house and they deal with US Customs. You literally just click buy and wait which is exactly what Alex from NorthridgeFix does. When he says a product is out of stock and will be back shorty. What he really means is he selected free shipping and hes waiting 3 weeks for it to show up to resell to you.

I'd buy some apple RAM at your margins :) Heck, I'd buy some ATX 4.2 MOLEX connectors at decent price, please tell me where cos I search Aliexpress, Alibaba, etc and didn't found something decent for low quantities. «"Considering they give support, plentiful info, and already imported products the prices aren't *bad*"» You know chinese sellers make knock offs of them chinese products, right? :) At least you know NRF use the exact product, and you see how he uses them, that's a plus and sometimes cost more than the products themselves. "You literally just click buy and wait which is exactly what Alex from NorthridgeFix does." And you wait 85 days, than you don't even get a refund.. "AliExpress can literally sell you a product for 1$ and ship it for free from China to your house and they deal with US Customs." You know that in EU and other countries sometimes customs set the tax for goods by [the catalogue price, not the declared value, right? That's why some people *pay* taxes, and sellers *say that they're not responsible* - I think if you know how to read you'd know.. "NorthridgeFix is not going to provide technical support in any way." Do you have any prove of that. I have neither way, so I'm just curious. In the end, you don't need to rant on internet, is good that people *know* that are choices, especially when you get a super deal or choice day (even some are just scams, as many "super deals" are in fact the usual price..) You're wrong about everything, except the fact that people should know about alternatives, have the choice (seem an ideeain a free market..) *and* accept the risc involved, even if is just the lack of guarantee by NFS, or knock-offs of knock-offs. And I must admit I bought some nice things from Aliexpress, and sometimes if you use Eva the refunds are easy-peasy, with a few exceptions.

You think 700$ for a 1080p microscope that he buys in bulk for less then 100$ each is a decent price? Hes sitting in his 5 million dollar house paid for by cheap chinese tools and ignorant followers. He doesn't review these products, he doesn't test them for months, he doesn't offer customer support, provide a warranty or even accept returns. Half the time hes also out of stock on items in which you have to be placed on back order. And since hes buying from the same cheap chinese source that everyone else can. You will end up waiting even longer for the product because it will take a month for it to be shipped from china to him, then from him to you. Do you really think you are going to get better product customer service dealing with a overpriced marked up middle man then buying directly from the company that makes it?

Obviously you haven't purchased items from AliExpress or NorthridgeFix. First of all If you buy a tool from NorthridgeFix and it breaks, hes going to make you pay to send it back if he even warranties his stuff to begin with. Which i highly doubt he does considering he sells nothing but the cheapest chinese tools available. AliExpress on the otherhand if a product is defective you can simply take a picture of it and submit a claim. Which they will usually refund you without returning it.

@@RejectedManiac Another thing you will notice about his product listings is he specifically avoids giving you literally any information at all. Like his microscope he sells for 725$ for example. The only information that is even specs related is it says its 1080P 60 FPS. Instead of actually listing what kind of sensor it has and how many megapixels it is. Information that would actually allow you to judge for yourself what the quality is. Hes substitutes specs for his opinion like saying its a BIG sensor with amazing quality. Its the best on the market and highest quality you can get your hands on unlike cheaper models sold everywhere else. Im pretty sure he does this for one of two reasons. Reason one because the specs are mostly shit. Reason two is combined with the fact he puts his logo on everything and scrubs any existence of the original brand names and models. If you don't know who manufactures it, what model it is or know any actual specs about it. You can't easily look it up and price check it. Which hes no dummy, im sure he does that on purpose. Otherwise everyone who price check everything he sells and realize how overpriced he is. Branding it as his own and talking it up gives him that edge to swindle people into buying it.

For some of the cheaper things yeah i'd probably buy directly from china because it's close to me but others like the scope i'd rather buy from them. If something goes wrong, i'm getting Northridge fix to sort it out rather than deal with the supplier directly. Also if you're in china you can sometimes get things even cheaper on taobao or JD.

Plus the more common repairs of connectors, top layer traces. That also explains why he has a high no-fix volume (and revenue). He's ok at soldering, which is his primary 'talent', and he's just OK at it, not even the best. There are much more capable technicians on youtube that take on tough diagnostics and repairs. The guy can't even ball and flow, let alone do multi-layer PCB trace repairs like a lot of youtubers do. It was obvious he was selling rebranded Chinese products that are readily available on Ali Express but lot of people don't know. Returns are the most complicated thing of the sales business because they must determine whether the return is legit or not, whether the seller sold fakes or not, whether to refund money, because there is also a refund scam business. Each refund must be processed individually. For example Lazada asks for a video of the unusable item which must be reviewed by a human and checked back with the seller. I agree with everything you said except Alex being a professional repairman. If you watch any of his videos, most/all repairs are focused on replacing connectors and ICs. There is no in-depth troubleshooting to understand what causes MOSFETs to fail. These IC don't fail randomly, but it will fail when overheating due to large current draw. Replacing those devices provide only a temporary fix because the underlying issues aren't fixed. Replacing bad capacitors to fix problems make me laugh because of how unlikely it is to have a ceramic capacitor that fails SHORTED rather than OPEN. You will never show me any of his videos where he uses schematics or oscilloscope to analyze signals. Having said this, he made a decision to work on easy to fix problems for the amount of money he charges. Everything harder falls under NO-FIX and being changed $75 fee. Moreover it seems his online reviews undermine his credibility as repair shop that can fix problems, and he is expanding his business into making t-shirts. The guy is smart, he rebadges it and sells it for more. Plenty of companies do this. Also getting from China you have to pay tax and duties. Terrible video mate

Gotta laugh at this clown, he tries to call out someone who has a business and wants to make a profit, uet has videos on how to get a refund and keep the product e,g he's a scammer. If people haven't got the commonsense to shop around , that's down to them, does that make someone who sells the item for a profit a scammer, nope. But telling people how to get a refund and keep the profit, working, is a scammer.

Its not like hes selling name brand products that you can easily source and price check. Everything he sells is from the depths of China and has been debranded and replaced with his logo and product naming scheme. Pretty sure thats the main idea behind it so it is hard for the average person to look up these products elsewhere. And considering the national average markup on electronics from wholesale to retail is 9% it is a little fucked up hes marking up products nearly 15x that. That and he basically uses his videos and soldering skills to create the illusion that these crappy tools he sells are the best tools you can buy. You can't blame people for falling for his scammy sales tactics. People watch his cherry picked videos he posts of the very small percentage of devices he actually can fix and they think hes a reputable guy selling quality tools. When in reality hes selling cheap Chinese garbage at an unreasonable price. Also 90% of the devices that are mailed into him he deems a nofix and charges customers 100$+ in bench fees and return shipping just to get their unrepaired device back even if he didn't even attempt a repair. Thats also how hes collected literally thousands of donor devices from customers. His business is built on nofixing devices and conning people into buying shitty products at a crazy price.

Seriously??? People support chanels by buying ridiculously overpriced cups and t-shirts that are branded... At least this stuff is useful. Additionally, his factory direct orders ensure a consistent product. Most of these products have several varients with a huge range of quality. A side by side comparison and teardown would be the only fair way to compare.

What kind of video is this supposed to be? Revealing? Of course, you can find his products likes in other stores. And about that fume extractor, the guy isn't testing NF Fume so it can not be taken seriously.

Its the same fume extractor. Only different is NF fume has his logo on it. Its built and shipped from the same crappy chinese manufacturer. Has Alex ever showed the fume extractor he uses exhausting clean air? no he hasnt. He also doesn't even personally use the NF Fume. You think because he claims that these items are customized to his spec that its actually true? so gullible.

To all who think a product 56 USD is the same as one branded by someone and sold for 96 USD. They are not the same. They are similar, indeed but they are not the same. I know this for a fact. I know branded PSUs for PC that have quality capacitors versus "looking the exact same" PSus but with low quality capacitors. I repair them so I do know. Looking to buy cheaper is the treat of a fool not of a smart person.

Foolishness. Sure you can get things cheaper directly, but I would rather pay more to get products that have been validated by an individual who puts thier reputation on the line. These manufacturers rip each other off all the time. Becuase it looks the same does not nean they are the same. We have all wasted money buying crap; it is hard to find things that actually work in a world where making a quick buck at the expense of quality is the actual standard. So with all due respect, grow up

Reputation? He only repairs devices that have simple problems while charging a rate that is based on the value of your item and not the work being done. He has kept and deemed so many customers items a nofix that he has more computers, graphics cards, phones and game consoles then microcenter.

I have bought everything with the same way you did. Although l am in the uk. there is no point paying that exaggerated prices. There are couple of more things to say about Northridge Fix. I admire his hand skill, but he is very greedy person. They have million dollar business and still no workers. What l mean it is utterly middle eastern mentality. Obviously they dont like sharing and no support for local people. Me me me... They can have at least one employee. No no no. All must be mine. By the way l am middle eastern too. 😀

This is usual business. This goes for almost every single product on the market. Someone produces it and others brand it or slightly modify it and then sell it under their name. I don't like the intention of the video to make nf look like a greedy fraudster. You could have made it a positive thing "hey look guy here you can get similar product for cheaper".

There is a different between making a profit and buying a multimillion dollar shop for a business that has only 4 employees, a personal 5 million dollar house and a yacht. The national average markup on electronics from wholesale to retail is 9%, not 300%. would you feel the same way if you walked into best buy and they were charging 1500$ for a PS5? Thats basically what hes doing except instead of getting a premium product for a outrageous price. You are getting a cheap chinese tool for an outrageous price.

I hope you realize that he prolly pays 10-20 times the rent than the shop that made those products back in China. Also its a business, he pays tax, he pays workers, shipping, etc.. So even tho the price may look like he earns 2x off the original price remember that he has expenses to pay. Aliexpress aint new, at this point alof off stuff you can get there for cheap.
