Great question! We are hiring out of northern Louisiana in the tanker division. If you go for regional-non kosher tanker division home time is 1-2 weeks. If you do OTR tanker division, then you are looking at 3-4 weeks home time. Ultimately you would have even more options if you are open to flatbed or refrigerated.

We just pulled the last 13-week averages for all divisions. For Tanker, average solo company driver paychecks are around $1050-1150. Year to date average miles is 2000-2200 for active drivers. Top performers are averaging around $1250 a week. For independent contractors, 13 week rolling average settlement is $1426. Year to date average is $1388. Top performers are averaging $2200-2500 a week.

Sure are a lot of Prime drivers YouTubin it. Prime must be cool with it. Another driver for another company has a channel & he started making vids in his truck. He did not ask permission, but, he made sure he did not mention their name, he made sure he did not show their name on the truck he was careful to not identify them AND YET, after a couple vids, they yanked him into the office & gave him a going over. They told him in addition to his steps so far he was not to record in or around their truck NOR anywhere on their property. Geeeez.....a bit paranoid? So all of his vids are of him standing in a truckstop on the grass. !

We do allow our drivers to have KZbin channels. There are a couple stipulations for the channel, like not recording while driving and not using the channel bash Prime. KZbin has been helpful to many of our drivers who use it for recruiting or try to help other drivers with their training!

Probably I’ll have to teach the trainer that probably have less experience and years driving than me, what a shame prime

Our training program typically takes between 2 and 2.5 months. This includes a 3-day orientation, 2-4 weeks of CDL instruction, and 30k training miles. During the 30k training miles, you are paid a guarantee of $900/week. Thanks for the question!

I am deciding between Prime and Cypress flatbedding. I ultimately want to run a small fleet for power only. Any advice? Seems like it comes down to learning how to tarp and driving regional versus waiting sometimes at a warehouse and reading a book or sleeping. 10 year experience, 3 years tanker. I’m interested in lease. I can stay out weeks on end. But I’m worried pay isn’t enough. What can a lease tanker gross realistically who stays out? Is 4,000 average possible? I’m used to making 1500 gross company. If I’m willing to stay out weeks end surely I can make that with prime? Consistently. I might have too much experience getting paid good for prime. That’s not meant in a bad way. I really want to work with prime but I can’t do 11-1200 weeks anymore. Any thoughts would help

Thanks for the question! We do have condo’s in the tanker division. We do use lightweight trucks in our Tanker Regional routes out of Fort Wayne/Decatur, IN and Bellevue/Sandusky, OH. Some of those loads are loaded at 50K lbs which requires the lightweight trucks which are smaller, and those drivers are around the house more often.

Good day, I have a question. I'm a current lease operator at prime on the reefer side. Almost going on 2 years with prime and about 5 years otr experience. 5 years getting little tired of reefer and I saw tanker. The job description I love and seems little more physical work involved which I like. I was wondering can a reefer driver transfer to tanker. If so can I take my current lease truck with me, it's a condo or I will have to start over a lease with a different truck? Thanks

Great question! Yes, you have the option to switch divisions. Being able to switch your current lease truck to Tanker is determined on a case by case basis depending on the term of your truck/contract. Hi Scott! In our refrigerated division, solo company drivers start at 48 cpm in a full-size truck and 53 cpm in a lightweight. Yes. The reasoning behind that is because our drivers get on the road driving/training with us pre-CDL Exam which typically amounts to around 10k training miles. Hope that makes sense!

We have TNT trainers in all 3 divisions, so we try to pair you with a trainer in the division you choose. For the tanker division, you will also go through Tanker bootcamp to prepare you to operate your own truck!
