Thank you so much for this. I am a 62 year old mom who inherited approximately 50 + boxes of comic books ( not to mention the others my husband sold to a friend in one lump) from my “comic book ( and action figure) lover” brother-in-law. Some are in my house and much more carefully packed in storage. I’d like to treat them with respect because he (brother-in-law) was a serious and devoted collector, but I really have no knowledge or interest in comics. The benefit would be to sell them to people that value them.

Great Video! I originally got started on eBay to sell off my comic book collection of over 5k+. I collected heavily from late 80s-late 90s. I know the comic industry very well, more than most you tube personalities. It always made me mad when they said "only key issues sell". I know that to be complete BS. But, I do know more than most, because I WAS a collector. First lot of 3 I sold was AMS 298-300. 350$. That was 7 years ago. I only have about 70 comics left, that I really dont want to get rid of just yet. I want to add something you touched on about grading. True collectors that collect the graded comics really only want CGC graded ones. If you go that route, just be prepared to spend some money and wait about 6-8 months to get your comic(s) back, regardless of what their web site says. I applaud you for this video, and also despise you for giving away some secrets. Definitely gonna check out your other stuff out. Thumbs up dude.

Just found you, and have to thank you for the common sense approach in the way you presented this video. I’ve never sold anything on eBay. Two years ago, I purchased three lots of comic books, and they’ve been sitting in the closet because I know zero about selling them. I thought I had wasted my money, but now I look forward to reading the book you recommended, and listing the books. Thank you so very much. I’ll be watching your other videos as well. I really appreciate your help. Best wishes. P.S. EDIT: They have an updated one..Sept. 2020. Hope that was ok to buy..cause I did.

Great stuff as always, Dom. Lemme throw in one caveat about checking eBay completed sales -- the prices that people end up paying for comics (and almost anything else) are not totally consistent from one sale/auction to another, even for identical items in basically identical condition. Sometimes, an unusually high sales price is achieved because two bidders get into a bidding war over an auctioned item, and other times someone inexplicably pays an unusually high Buy It Now price for an item that's listed regularly. I know this stuff happens because for several years I've been paying very close attention to eBay listings for various EC comic reprint items (comics, magazines, hardcover books, etc.), and the price range for many items can vary as much as 200% to 300% over a short period of time if you compare completed listings. That is one strength of price guides -- they provide averaged-out prices by crunching sales data from multiple sales, over a set period of time (a calendar year, the last 6 months, etc.) The most important practical ramification of this idea is, you need to keep in mind that if an eBay completed listing shows that an item recently sold for, say, $100, whereas a couple of months ago identical items in the same condition sold for $50, $55 and $60, it does not automatically mean that collector interest has suddenly upsurged and everyone will now happily pay $100 -- it may be that the $100 sale was an outlier, unlikely to recur in the near future. Time will tell. Having said all of the above, eBay sales prices tend to be more consistent for "hot" items that are in heavy demand and thus attract attention from many potential buyers every time they're listed.

How do you find people selling for only 10-15 cents? I keep looking online but people want like $1 a book :/
@MissX9053 жыл бұрын
they shouldn't sell for that low. Some of these comic "buyers" are looking for the cheapest deals so they make the $. I gladly pay $1-$2 sometimes more for VG-F old .12 and .15 comics. I have bought in bulk from auctions. But I am a collector so not really interesting in making $ on them at this time. If you like the comic buy it just to add to your collection. Investing in comics can be volatile in terms of if the price will go up. I'm leaving all my old collectible comics to my kids so maybe when they are old and grey the comics will be worth double lol.

Comics these days are pretty much worth $2 no matter what unless the condition is pretty bad.I used to find 50 cent boxes and $1 boxes but can no longer find comics that low anymore.I did get lucky and pick up around 500 comics with some 30 DC TPBs and around 20 non comic Dracula books for $100. And found a lot of keys and mid keys in the newer 2010-2018 era of DC not really my kind of books but I am going to try and flip them to get books that I do want.

Great video! new subscriber here, just wanted to ask... The supply here in the Philippines for bronze age comics to earlier is very low, while there are only a few people to none who would sell for less than $1-$2/comic if buying in bulk. Most people would sell for at least $5 per comic. The lowest one I found was $3, But that's just one out of the hundreds i found. Should I still give it a try and just adjust to the prices here?

A comic book should NEVER drop below the cover price. You can argue about the condition of the book but you can't expect to buy a collection of lets say 8000 for $50 bucks.
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter3 жыл бұрын
That’s not true. Comics routinely drop below cover price. Now, sure, you can’t expect to buy 8000 comics for $50 but when buying comics in bulk I routinely get them for 10 to 20 cents a piece. I have many sourcing videos showing this.,

For that reason I'm out. 😀 Still I want to learn about it.
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter5 жыл бұрын
I get what you’re saying, Ara. So it’s important to remember that for every time that I landed a big comic book score there were probably 5 to 10 other times where I couldn’t make a deal because the person wanted too much for the collection. So it does require a lot of patience but if you stick with it you can definitely turn it into a profitable situation.
