Cool tips Regie, barely started an Instagram, think I'll start just posting pictures, but open an ebay account, then build a youtube channel, then over time make stuff available on Instagram, and if it's successful, brick and mortar, because the nearest comic shop still is 40min away!

Regie, it also helps that you have the KZbin channel. I believe there are people out there that will buy anything as long as their favorite KZbin personality is selling it. I think it’s a sort of bragging rights kinda thing. Say if Tom Cruise was selling a bike. Someone who doesn’t need the bike might buy it just to say they have Tom’s bike. Same with KZbin just a smaller audience.

Yes totally agree it does take time to build your following but it beats the fees. Now if you use PayPal and you trust who you buy and sell from you can avoid additional fees if you pay or obtain payment as friends and family. Another method is place your books in a raffles if those books are slabs of higher value or ask someone that sells book in auctions that can sell your books for a small fee if again you trust the individuals that are avid sellers and is well known in IG in the comic book community. There is a plethora of ways to sell your comics.

I would encourage folks to read the terms of use associated with PayPal before implementing the first tip. I purposefully didn’t touch on that one because I didn’t have a chance to look into it myself. With that said, I agree that there are ample opportunities. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I'm waiting for some slabs to come back -- keys, setting something at like $20 and leaving it in an auction is a bit scary. I don't want to pay for the reserve price feature, is it better to post it as buy now / offer? Or just set a higher price when doing an auction? I have a few Secret Wars #1, Xmen 142, Spider-man Gleason red virgin cover, things like that.

To piggy back off your hashtag comment, i suggest making it easy on yourself and pre-program them into your keyboard on your phone. Theres a keyboard shortcut on the iphone so when you type specific letters (eg. igm), a slew of hashtags will pop into your post like this: #Marvel #MarvelComics #comics #comicbook #comicbooks #igcomicfamily #igcomicbooks #igcomiccommunity #IGComicLords #BronzeAge #CopperAge #ModernAge #ComicCollecting #ComicCollection #ComicCollector. Folks are attempting to bypass the fees associated with PayPal. Like eBay those fees go to a feature/service. In the case of PayPal, it’s the buyer protection that someone is paying for with that 3%. If someone buys something with buyer protection, the seller’s compensation is reduced by 3% because they pay for the buyer protection. Does this help?

I've done Instagram transactions and so far, all have gone well. I'm thinking of selling some of my stuff. It's scary, mainly because I don't want to get ripped off, and also because It's weird selling my precious little nerd nuggets. @@RegieCollects, I'm just saying in general. Sure you can get references etc... and most of the time it will work out. But if it doesn't work out there is no recourse for a buyer. With PayPal and EBay they protect the buyer. What protection would a buyer have without using them.

Edit: General/broad statements are tough because there are typically exceptions to the rule. For example, there are a lot of comic shops and private dealers that do business on IG. I would have zero issues sending money any number of ways to these types of operations either via PayPal F&F, Venmo, etc. There are a lot of people that also buy books from me via F&F. There is also the option of using social media to find sellers locally for meet ups where money can be exchanged. Risk can almost always be minimized.

@@RegieCollects, sure and I'm not saying it doesn't work out most of the time. But I hear horror stories many times on FB about buyers getting ripped off because they didn't use PayPal. I've personally experienced this on low dollar books on Ebay. If it weren't for Ebay I would have been ripped off. So not trying to discount anything you are saying as I enjoy watching you and agree with you. Just saying that it can be a risk.
