A quick and efficient solution to make a chimney in a shelter with soil and sand. A few rocks and a little imagination we can manage to make a small corner to be able to eat them and well sheltered from the rain! After all my adventures in the woods a solution was needed to realize that he invite you to discover I tell you soon and forget not to reassure yourself when you make a fire in the woods. Protect yourself from protecting the forest!

Food for thought, I have made a couple of shelters similar to yours and found that by burying the hearth somewhat below grade and also facing the fire towards my sleeping area, the fire would reflect heat after the flames had died away but the coals were still glowing, as a byproduct, I found that the more stone and mortar (i.e. clay and sand mix with some leaf litter to bind) the warmer it kept my little shelter. The last one I came up with had nearly half the entire far wall as one big pile of rock and mortar that would absorb the heat and 2 days after my last fire, would still be warm to the touch.

I love that you ate dandelion leaves! indigenous cultures considered dandelion to be a prized edible, a gastrointestinal aid, a cleansing alterative and a helpful poultice or compress. The Algonquian ate the leaves for their alterative properties and also used them externally as a poultice. Additionally, the Aleut steamed leaves and applied them topically to sore throats. The Cherokee made a tea of the plant (leaves and flowers) for calming purposes. The Iroquois as well made a tea of the whole plant, and considered it an alterative tonic. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Dandelion is referred to as ‘Xin Xiu Ben Cao’ or ‘Pu Gong Ying’ and considered to be energetically sweet, drying and cooling. According to TCM, Dandelion clears heat from the liver and has a beneficial effect on the stomach and lungs, and it can uplift the mood and support lactation. Dandelion Leaf is as an excellent source of vitamins A, C and K. It also contain vitamin E, folate and small amounts of other B vitamins. Dandelion Leaf provides a substantial amount of several minerals, including iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium. The root is also believed to fight cancer. Thank you for helping us get back to nature. 🪴🌻🌄 I have a suggestion for future videos... could you add a tag indicating what plant it is you're consuming? Some of them I had a hard time identifying. I love that you are strong and silent but just wish you could tell us what plants you're finding. PS you have your brother to thank for me finding your channel. You are both awesome!

I have found that the slightly larger soup cans get a better draft. It’s a pain to work the rounded bottoms but you get a tighter fit since they fit within themselves. Just remember to keep the can bottom pointed up and slip it into the top of the next can. You can mud daub the joints but not really necessary. Working with what I have soup cans best for me to stay away from the beans. 😷

It speaks to the soul of us. It is a simplicity that carries over from ancient times, in which we had no masters and no taxes, no obligations and rules besides survive. The fate of a man was in his own hands, and life was simplified down to the basic desires of food water shelter and socialization. We live in a world of spinning plates now that make little to no sense. instead of gathering and hunting and fishing for our food, we decided to let others handle that and we instead do labor that makes little matter in the grand scheme of things. Instead of building a simple hut ourselves, we buy million dollar McMansions that we can never pay off and own, and are taken from us the moment we stop.

On your door frame uprights cut a small curved recess and your cross bars will seat in them when you tie them together. That will eliminate some of the side to side wobble and also use less cordage.

You can extract clay from your dirt, mix it with alot of water, mix it up,. Clay particles will stay suspended in the water. Then pour the water to another container and the clay will settle out.
