if you mix the mud with straw, the oven will not crack as much
@firefoley6 жыл бұрын
Also a less amount of water in your clay mixture will cause less cracks in the dried formations. The water will evaporate by the heat and cause shrinking. Therefore use some kind of reinforcement like Peter said.

It needs to be much taller and much thicker as well, it also needs to be about 1 foot around on the inside. This will create more heat at a much faster in a smaller space.

Finally. A new video of yours. Thank you for sharing :). This furnace-oxygen-supplier looks very promising. Very good idea and design. Does it work well ENOUGH, my www friend? When hay is in the mud-mix you build your furnace with, the furnace becomes a lot stronger: When burning inside the mud, the hay will become carbon. The furnace will not crack that much, and withstand a great deal of heat.

You can do the ventilation system of the furnace to turn around by water flow than by manpower. If you connect the turbine to a water wheel and create a continuous flow of water that will rotate it, the system will be more efficient and there will be no waste of time and energy of a person to activate it.
@StanislavG.6 жыл бұрын
Water is powerful but slow, that's why it was mainly used for milling or lifting, in the old days. But you don't need force - you need to turn that fan as fast as you can. So you'll have to use gears or belts to turn that force into speed, and i'm not sure it's viable in this situation

This looks pretty promising for being able to sustain a longer smelt time, higher total heat, and better oxygen flow. You furnace grate should aslo be helpful when trying to create bloomer iron since the slag will easily flow through the holes but the larger clumps of only semi-molten iron will be less likely to fall through. You may want to try many more small holes rather than few big ones. Also the other comments about hay or grass in the mud of the furnace are good advice too. They help the furnace compensate for the shrinkage that occurs after you've done the first heat of the furnace.
@kameljoe216 жыл бұрын
Few things to add, You can also use the charcoal dust to line the inside as well. It also needs to be taller and narrow. The wall thickness should be 2 times this amount. Doing these things will also help create more heat.

That is a fantastic Furnace and blower system! Great work! Your weakest points are the pull string and the fan blades, but they should still last while. It looks like you made the fan end everything removable for cleaning the ashes out of the bottom? A little more work than you may want to do for that, but it should be just fine since it was relatively deep, and you probably won't be burning in the furnace everyday.

I really like this ancient "know how" and being explained by Newtons fist law, "An object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force". The unbalanced force here is the friction, therefore the bigger "spinning wheels" to overcome the friction. As he adds energy by pulling the string to create momentum, there is enough energy to overcome friction to haul the string in again. It's like an ancient JoJo:) So simple, yet so advanced.
