Primitive Skills

Hello everyone, my name is Duong.
I am 32 years old.
I live in a poor mountainous area of Vietnam.
From a young age, I had to work hard to help my parents.
Difficult life is always around, I work and learn everything from my grandparents and the old people in the village.
Gradually, I mastered the skills.
5 years ago, I decided to live the challenge.
Determined to learn about the primitive way of life, I chose to live in the wilderness, alone.
Where there's no technology and forcing yourself to pass, it feels great!
How about you? Your life is definitely different from mine.
Have fun watching the video!

To have a good result when dyeing fabric, is good to boil the dye from the tubers and put the fabric into the boiling water so that the fiber on the fabric take on a good color.

Your wife's cabin and farm are beautiful, but I must say that I find your farm more appealing. Perhaps that is because I watched you build everything by hand using old technology, from the first little woven bamboo cottage, to a pond and then all of the other buildings! Congratulations to both of you!

Whenever it comes to natural dyes (as plants), we usually boil them to get the most color out, and even boil the fabric sometimes with the roots/leaves to dye them.

I still think you could be a consultant for others struggling to get their farms going. You're very skilled. I'm so loving your fabric tasks, and I hope to see you make something with it. 😊 Also, you have some very big fish!!! I was like, wow, I'd like to get one of those cooked up. There would be enough for a small dinner party!! Very beautiful. 😊🥰 Thank you for sharing. ❤

For those who build wooden houses like this, make sure to include a small piece of copper wiring between the stone foundation and the wood to drive off termites as well as having the wood treated against humidity. The slant of the balcony roof also should be at a slight angle and not flat to prevent water from siting there and infiltrating into the beams

BUILDING a stairway is not really easy to understand. Not shown here, but in Huong's video: pouring the cement around the base of the bottom posts certainly helps to reduce wiggling. So what you 2 have built DESERVES being called STURDY!

Dyeing with natural materials isn't easy unless you have a lot of practice. You would have got better results with less hands on labour in a larger container with more water. It allows faster absorption, and a more consistent product without patchiness. I've done a little dyeing with plant materials and it's always a bit of a gamble. Dye that most people use now is always synthetic, often a modern version of an older natural dye. I always enjoy your videos, you put in so much work. 👍

Unfortunately, the natural pigment quickly fades in the sun. You need to dry the fabric in the shade. You need to add lime juice, acid to the pigment, it stabilizes the pigment, but it will fade quickly in the sun.

@@madrepityu The loom that Duong made IS a machine. A primitive machine, but still a machine! The broken threads in the tear seem (to me) to be too coarse for store-bought material. I would like more details on why you think that some of the material was bought instead of self-made.

@user-gx1rk8yw6l
@user-gx1rk8yw6l 8 ай бұрын
Though the quality is quite good, it certainly seems of NOT as high a quality as one might expect from material bought in a store. The AMOUNT of material seems (to me) quite appropriate for the time available to weave it.
