DUONG'S Making Clay Roof Tiles and Roof Tile Installation
------------------
After many days, from preparing the soil, shaping the tile roof and drying it. Next is spending many days heating the tile in the oven and waiting for the tile to cool. Finally, my clay tile roof is completed. A great result for the effort I put in. I'm really satisfied and happy about that. How do you see my clay tile roof? Please leave your opinion below in the comments section... Thank you very much
Have fun watching the video!

As far as the duck situation: Either grow an area of food specifically for the ducks or cut the size of your flock down to a number you are sure you can comfortably feed, maybe down to 20 ducks. I would wait until they start laying eggs before deciding. Your roof tile experiment is a total success! I am always amazed at the amount of planning and work that is required to do your projects. Most men feel they accomplished something by reroofing a house...and they buy all the products needed! You have to plan and fabricate each item needed for that job. You are an awesome craftsman, my friend! Given enough time, I am sure I will see you create a computer out of bamboo, lmao. Thank you for soooo many hours of incredible entertainment!

Duong, i watched since back before you had a Lake and your small shelter (where the lake is now) got destroyed, then you built several iterations of this house since then. It is very well done, congratulations. I hope you choose to sell ducks to further support your endeavors.

I think you're probably gonna have to sell a bunch of your ducks to bring back a more stable environment and source food for your fish. This is probably gonna break your heart but if you know you're not going to have enough food for them it's probably better to at least get rid of half of them and see how things goes from there. PS: Your roof looks absolutely brilliant! Good work Duong!

You’re a one man farm operation. You have to decide how much you can take care of and still have time for a life outside of this farm. You also have to determine how many head of farm animals your one man farm can support, feed and keep healthy without constantly having to forage and prepare food for them. Yes, like it or not, you will need to occasionally need to sell some of your pigs, ducks, chickens and fish to keep your farm healthy, thriving and prosperous. It’s just good farm management. This is a business to feed you and your family, not a petting zoo, even though you, like many animals farmers treat your animals like pets. Lol So think about things, and at what level of population of your farm critters that you need to sell a few to maintain a good, balanced management level you can handle and YOU stay healthy and happy with. : ) Your new tile roof looks great! : ) But curious… Since they are not thick and heavy, what keeps the tiles from sliding off the roof or being blown off? Hmmm…

I think 30 ducks & chickens is a good self-sustaining number. 1/3 male to 2/3 female, sell the rest & save a few to eat. As for your pigs...we know you love the pigs but they eat 20x more than your flocks. Sell 1/2 your pigs & flocks,- use the money & get yourself a motorcycle & a large doubled wheel wheelbarrow to simplify & sustain your life there.😊 Also, there are people in Florida who rent their duck flocks to others that have ponds or large water resivores to eat the moss that grows on it & keep it maintained. 🤔

Is this tiled roof design really that sturdy? It looks very shaky and flimsy when you assembled it. With such strong winds that you have there, won't the tiles just fly away of the roof in a strong storm?

the own weight of the tiles will wold them together, just like a brick wall
@Genyanus
@Genyanus 2 күн бұрын
@@rodricbr it's not like a brick wall. First, brick wall is not held together by it's weight but by mortar between bricks. Second, even if weight argument is correct, bricks are much heavier and have much more friction then tiny clay tiles. Third, tiles are not arranged in a self-locking position. Tiles on the top line of the roof are not fixated. If those are blown off, then the next layer losses fixation and can be easily removed as well. The whole roof might be sturdy to touch after assembly and work well enough in concept, but not when you consider hellish strong winds in that region.

For animal situation: I think it's time to cull. Once you get the duck eggs, keep about 40-50 and let them hatch once you have a group enough younglings start selling off your older ducks. Same for the fish, you have A LOT of fish, maybe it's time to sell a lot of them too and eventually you piggies too. You have so many! Maybe with the extra money you can buy more land or food too. Great job on the roof! Must have been a lot of work, but it's a thing of beauty!

you should take the broken tile pieces and ground them down to sand size pieces to add them to any new ceramic projects like the tiles for the roof. about 15-20% of the grog (ground up tile) and the new mixed clay will be easier to dry and fire. helps keep the clay from cracking and breaking when drying

I'm very happy to see the new tiled roof, ever since I started watching your videos I really wanted you to be able to do this. There's a lot of benefits, resistance to water, fire, rot, and pests, as well as being very beautiful and pleasing to the eye on both the inside and outside of your house. As for the ducks, I agree with other comments, you should sell the ducks you aren't able to care for and only keep a small amount. This will be good for both the ducks and the fishes and even the other animals as you would have more time and resources for them. Great video, looking forward to the next one!

I'm not a farmer, so I cannot offer good advice on how to manage your animal herds. However, I want you to know that as one of your KZbin subscribers, I support you 100% if you choose to sell some animals to keep your herd sizes healthy and manageable. I know when your first pigs died that was very saddening for you. Please keep herd sizes manageable so that your animals can eat enough to stay healthy and fight off disease. Your farm is beautiful. Your knowledge is impressive. You are a great man. I admire what you have accomplished. Well done! As always, thanks for working so hard and sharing your videos. I wish the very best to you, Huong, and your two daughters.

Too late now. Making any hole will just crack them now after firing. He could cheat and Dremel them slowly in order to set them. Anything like a 12v drill will quickly ruin them. The cleat at the bottom angles the tile to create a heavy friction point to the next. Additionally, the tight stacking (3/4 of the tile) allows gripping between them and added weight. This isn't glazed pottery. They have a rough surface. If a hurricane occurs, the last thing to worry about is a roof.

You should make a new set of tiles and keep them in the kiln in preparation for the upcoming wind storm. This time, make a hole near the top of the tile where you can fasten them to the wood slats. I've built a few tile roofs and the tiles were nailed. I know the modern tiles in America are not the same as the Asian tile system - but wind is the same.

I'm happy to see the roof come to completion. Ever since you put the effort into the house, I knew it needed a better roof. Me and about 10,000 others here on youtube, apparently! I'd love to see it during a rain storm, just for completion sake! About the ducks, you have many types of animals on your farm. You might have too many for one person, if I'm honest. You might need to cut back so all the animals in your care get what they need.
