Big momma is way too permissive of her other daughters at Terri's expense and way too like into getting Terri to forgive Faith in a tight time frame to have not been there done that. This really is a hood classic for sure. I remember having the Soul Food VHS back at my grandmothers house. We would watch that shit every time during thanksgiving. We would even eat the same foods from the movie. As an adult it really makes you see how super unhealthy all of it was. I also did not know miles was cheating on his wife while watching it as a kid. I was always so confused when Vanessa Williams was tripping since they would always tell us kids to stop watching during that scene.

In my opinion Teri is a complex character. It makes the audience feel sorry for her and want her to win such as getting a chance of happiness in life due to her family betraying her as Maxine stole her boyfriend Kenny, Faith slept with her husband Miles, and they constantly kept relaying on her for money for financial issues. She was responsible and independent I give her credit for that and I feel like her family should have gave her more recognition and credibility so she can feel loved and appreciated but at the same time Teri was arrogant, cocky, and narcissistic.
@evirareid15002 жыл бұрын
Terri was reactive. Im reactive and I have a similar position in my family. She was human and very well written.

She wasn't narcissistic, but she was definitely arrogant at times. She was definitely a three-dimensional character, and the TV series showed that she had even more layers that we initially saw in the movie.

Soul Food was the only black american culture movie we owned, and I watched it so many times, but it didn't register that they were eating like that every Sunday because we only ate soul food i=during the holidays or after church Sunday dinner. Boondocks described it clear as day about the food. Salute for this nostalgia...I now know Terry was the innocent one throughout the whole movie.
