I remember someone telling me that the vuelta a Burgos was a ‘nothing race’. This exciting race is a tune up for the Vuelta a Espana! Thanks, FloBikes for showing all the races. Exciting gentlemanly cycling battle!

Who told you that? The fact that the 3 of them are there means it’s not a nothing race

That seated power is just insane while other guys are full out of the saddle attacking
@Nick-ei6em Жыл бұрын
This seemed like a very tactical climb where I don't think either of them showed themselves out. I'm still of the opinion that this is just training for the top teams, and some are not showing their hand early. That said... jumbo is about to kill everyone in the Vuelta. UAE has some great youngsters - but they are not in the same league 🤫

Yeah seems like he is saving energy for the vuelta no need for too much effort in this race since it's not the bog objective

You pedal better when seated
@ryanphelan6861 Жыл бұрын
roglic early in career always attacked seated it was also coming off froome era where seated accelerations were seen as a breakthrough remeber the ovak chainrings and everything :). Its more effective in sense standing you use more muscles which require more o2 and go into an anaerobic state quicker which is why "pure "climbers like contador yates, chaves, quintana it actually tires the arms as they are able to shift body weight to help provide torque. Also much more effective on gravel or cobbles when weight is needed over rear wheel to get better traction remember contador sliding on finestre a massive climb turned gravel at summit. Primoz used to just sit and spin you can see here he isnt pushing the same gear as yates hes being efficient clearing the lactate so he doesnt lock up. Once tadej came along primoz still began to attack out of saddle bigger gear to get initial gap or follow because tadej posed a whole new level of oppenent/speed. Primoz is olympic TT champ so ideally a lot like remco they both would like to climb seated at high tempo because they are each so good at holding it right on the rivet for extended effort. No surprise primoz is remcos idol. Tadej races much more on feel which cuts both ways hes amazing rider though nothing he cant do short of field sprint. Mathieu, Tadej Remco Jonas, Primoz have all had years that previously would have been runaway for rider of the year. This vuelta will be great but hopefully next years tour everyone jumps in and there are stages for everyone so wout and mathieu and mads etc have targets and likewise its shakes up GC to favor those who can race one days so tour doesn't feel like sprints and hill climbs. Just that one cobble stage in 2022 made huge drama without wout on form of his life that whole group would have lost couple minutes to tadej and stuyven. Curious to see ayuso against a polished field his raw talent and power belong but have to think even remco as young and newer to sport has massive advantage with his diverse incredubke palmares and Jumbo are new sky train except primoz and jonas are leagues above froome and porte and jumbo are doing this with 8 riders not 9 like sky enjoyed.

I feel like Roglic is generally being quite defensive when he's in the GC lead. He does not seem to be aiming to increase his lead very much, he's defending his slight advantages. All his wins this year included quite small gaps only. Overall he's succesful like that, of course, but it's difficult to know how strong he really is. The Vuelta will show, I guess
@GardEngebretsen Жыл бұрын
I don't think he's that much stronger. The way he races negates all of his strength in that case, as it means that only one bad day - and his chances might be ruined. Also, one of the most boring riders to watch in the Peloton.

I mean he had a big lead in GC and won the last stage anyway. What more do you want?

@@GardEngebretsen he didnt even gasp for breath at the end, no exhaustion at all, his form is superior to that of yates and vlasov here. furthermore your last sentence is just your opinion, completely meaningless as it won't affect his palmares, maybe think on doing something less pathetic.

Yates’s tactics suck. Why drag Primoz to the line? He had Jay Vine there but dropped his teammate. Slow it down, then tag team with Vine.

I think Primoz is a different type of rider to Jonas. He seems to like to defend the lead. Do just enough not to lose time and win bonus seconds if he can.

Typical Roglic style, hanging the whole climb in sommeones wheels saving somme energie, and attack last 400 meter to win the stage. pitty Adam didnt win , he was riding the whole climb in the front.
