Thanks for the shoutout and for reacting to this song. Sorry that I didn't comment earlier on this video. I was asleep when you guys uploaded this video lol. I knew you guys would enjoy the grooves and the funky vibes. This song is considered either funk rock or funk metal. Other bands like them are red hot chili peppers and Faith No More. I knew the vocals would be hit or miss but yeah lol. Anyways, thanks for reacting to this song. I haven't seen you guys react to rap rock song in a while so I would suggest Play Me (ft. Nas) by Korn. Keep up the good work. Today I have to do a speech on Hinduism in India for my communication studies class. That'll be interesting lol.

I do agree that his loss was felt greatly for Metallica and anyone that likes their older stuff such as myself. But he was just an average metal bassist. In Primus the lead guitar is the bass guitar. He tried out for Metallica and they rejected him because they said he was too good. Seriously. That happened.
@pmck63366 жыл бұрын
He wasn't rejected because he was "too good", more due to him having his own unique playing and personal style which would be restricted within the established parameters of Metallica. He had a skate punk look at the time, and playing a funky non-metal designed bass, a poor fit all around. Primus was gaining momentum at the time, and he grew up with Kirk in El Sobrante....thus the audition. But it was never going to be a fit for either side. Can you imagine Les allowing James and Lars mixing his Bass parts down. Bring in a long hair guy, with black stretch jeans, and white high tops that could handle the Bass like Les then he gets the gig. So, not about James and Lars being intimidated because of Les being "too good", but about him not being the right fit for the band, creatively and appearance wise. And Larry shreds on guitar. The Bass may be the centerpiece of the band, but there is a lot of great guitar work going on. Larry had jumped from the original Death Metal band Possesed to Progressive Thrash Metal Band Blind illusion....where he met Les. The SF Bay Area was a fun time back in the mid to late 80's. Lot's of great homegrown music.

@Hyde-n-Shriek6 жыл бұрын
You absolutely nailed it! I’ve been a huge fan of Primus since the early 90s, and I still can’t categorize it! The band is really just an excuse for Les Claypool to show off what a phenomenal bassist he is! But everything he does is quirky (like the South Park theme...that’s him). And if you ever get to see him live, you have to do it! Great video, and great channel guys! Now you have to check out Faith no More, Epic! Mike Patton has one of the widest vocal ranges ever recorded!
@LowEndWarrior6 жыл бұрын
Plus INFININTY to 'Faith No More'....although, I'd choose something besides 'Epic'. That is certainly the song that put them on the larger musical map, but there are soooooo many other tunes that simply rock harder. 'The Real Thing' would be more 'epic'. ;-) ....although, I think I might even choose something from 'Angel Dust', myself.
@madcapglass14546 жыл бұрын
EB Back in the 90's I lived in a small town. The only place with CD's didn't have much choice on hand, but they had a HUGE catalog to order through. It was broken down by genre; Hip Hop, R&B, Alternative Rock, Punk, etc. Anyways, one of the categories was PRIMUS! And Primus was the only group in the genre! So apparently NOBODY knew how to classify them, lol.

I'm sure Victor could 'keep up', but Victor would never come up with these lines in the first place. Les is a good, creative song writer as well as great bassist.
