@debdanton229510 ай бұрын
We need to prove disabilities in the US also, via a signed doctor’s statement. There are temporary and permanent disability designations. Permanent such as you’re never going to grow back limbs or fix a heart problem short of a heart transplant, and temporary such as broken limbs or recovering from surgery or some procedure, etc. How hard is it to recognize temporary and permanent disabilities? For permanent disability one doesn’t need to go through the whole process of proving the disability repeatedly, the blue card is just renewed every few years. The temporary cards are time limited based on the doctor’s recommendation. Saves a lot of time and grief.

You wont have any problem if you have a mental issue but you will if your disability is physical. I don't know if all Councils behave the same way but you will get a blue badge if you have a PIP award for mobility. It seems that the Councils can't be bothered to look into anyone's circumstances so only issue to those who have a PIP award. I had to renew my blue badge 15 months ago but because my PIP award was being reviewed, which happens frequently, I was turned down for a blue badge. After the review DWP decided I was now in the higher category for mobility so I went back to Council and my application went straight through. Unless you have to deal with this system you can't imagine the stress it puts you under. If I can't use my car I am housebound as I can only walk about 5 or 6 steps before having to stop for a rest.

They don't have the proper medical staff to assess.

This situation is insane! This young man lost a leg and an arm for his country. Now, his country doesn't want to give him a handicap parking badge! I find this so sad.
