My mother was the same age as Prince Philip. She had much of the same attitude towards life - never explain, never complain. She used to say that a good antidote to your problems was to keep busy and then you will forget about your problems. How true! Also, I found out that talking about your past and present problems won't solve your problems, only make them seem worse in your mind. It's a very good idea not to dwell upon your troubles in life.

I saw a beautiful picture he painted of the Queen having breakfast and it was undoubtedly her, he captured her so nicely. I also read that he left life changing amounts of money to long trusted staff members and that says a lot of nice and decent things about him. He was at one time , a Prince without a country , an excellent student , a true war hero and the man standing firmly with the most historic Monarch , making what she did look easy. Personally , while I am much younger then his youngest , Prince Edward , I look to him as a role model. Do the right thing , rather than appear to do the appropriate thing. He was a great man. I'm sorry but Harry is not a traitor. He has had the courage to walk away from the slavery which is the basis of the idea of royalty. Royals are expected to be display models of human life, regardless of their talents or preferences. Most people born in free nations can shape their own lives according to their talents and values but royals are expected to do endless empty ceremonial duties. Harry rescued his wife and children from this pretence and claimed as much normality as he can, given the very difficult start his life had. His children will thank him every day of their lives.

I know a lot about Prince Philip but I wanted to listen again because in the times that are in now-- where people are always saying poor me, poor me-- here we have a stateless man, much like the Palestinians are stateless although obviously for different reasons . HE was stateless and yet he carried on and he married one of the most powerful women in the world, Elizabeth. I know exactly why she was happy which helped her reign in the greatest fashion possible because she had married a man who was not a wimp. Prince Philip was NOT a milk toast like all these other powerful women marry, such as Megyn Kelly & other much less powerful women chose as marriage partners. THESE other ambitious women marry very weak men and they make the money and they support the men but the Queen, which is what Elizabeth eventually became, married a very powerful man in himself ; a very strong man; a man who had a great sense of his own worth; his own dignity; and a deep sense of his self. HE was able to be by her side throughout her life until his death & this allowed her to attend to her nation's needs, seeking his advice and his strength when necessary.
