Prince Philip Didn't Like To Eat With The Queen. Here's Why

In contrast to the tastes of his more traditional wife, the royal consort to Queen Elizabeth II liked spicy food, barbecue, and garlic. The late Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was also rather spicy himself about his food preferences, and was unafraid to let his opinions be known, no matter how incendiary (yes, he really once said, "British women can't cook"!).
Prince Philip was also fond of dining solo, and for good reason. The late Duke didn't always see eye-to-eye with Queen Elizabeth when it came to cooking. Here's why Prince Philip didn't like to eat with the Queen.

According to that chef Darren McGrady Prince Philip was in the kitchen quite a bit, especially at Windsor Castle and Balmoral. Actually, Philip and Margaret were smokers, which shortened their lives. It wasn’t a good decision, but considering Prince Philip was a smoker and lived to right at 100, his food choices obviously didn’t hurt him a bit. If he hadn’t smoked, he’d most likely had more good years with his beloved Elizabeth (Cabbage).

Being Royal, or married to one, is not like other humans. From birth (heck, even before birth!), these folks live and look at life very differently than non-Royals. No matter how "common" their father or mother was, if one of their parents is a Royal, so are they and it shows. We're all either fascinated or disgusted by them. But we can never, ever know what that feels like, what that thinking is like. Your almost every whim catered to, whilst living in a grand aquarium. No wonder they seek "normalcy" at times, while eschewing it at others. But Prince Philip HE was a one-off.

Nothing wrong with eating a diet that isn't spicy. Some people, like in this video, speak condescendingly, calling it bland. But you know what? Not all of us like or can physically tolerate spicy food. Spicy food gives me terrible heartburn. I am a good cook, and my food is always good. Good food doesn't have to be spicy. If you like spices, great. But that's not a requisite for a good meal.

Haddock, made into kedgeree is great for breakfast.
@patolt1628
@patolt1628 2 жыл бұрын
@@suzannesewell5072 Well I trust you although I don't know what is kedgeree, some kind of rice with oriental spices maybe? Anyway I was kidding (more or less ...). Seriously it's indeed a matter of culture and the way you were raised. Basically in Latin countries, breakfast is sweet, whatever is the reason, probably because it's energizing before starting a working day. Then the principal meal is lunch and diner is lighter since you are supposed to go to bed shortly after. Consequently, for us, anything savoury just out of bed is a kind of shock just because we are not used to. In England I can live with English breakfast: tea and toasts are delicious but I need to mentally prepare myself, even waking up one hour earlier, in order to enjoy, so to speak, eggs and sausage but I can do it. In Germany they give you delicatessen and cheese and there it's physically impossible for me in the morning, so I drink a cup of coffee (what they call coffee ...) and that's it. In Norway or in some cases in England apparently they serve fish but here it's definitely a red line: should I really try, it would for sure trigger a heart attack. I was mainly reacting to Prince Philip's statement about the fact that" the French don't know how to cook breakfast" because, although he was not known to be a great diplomat, it's a value judgement and that's not fair. We can say the same about foreigners, nobody is right or wrong, there are just different cultures coming from local constraints. Perhaps Norwegians eat fish at breakfast because they had nothing else to eat in the past (nothing grows overthere)...

Well, he was Greek, so, maybe his taste had been a bit different than a French or British persons taste was. And, he was KNOWN for saying things that maybe COULD be interpreted as being "ignorant". As for the "snipe bird", I had always that when somebody says they are going "snipe hunting" that it was a made up thing that grown men had told kids when they first had taken them hunting. And, that a "snipe" was a made up animal. Maybe that's just an American thing? They sure had seemed to be a couple who had gotten along REALLY well, BUT, they had been apart a good bit too. I guess that absence make the heart grow fonder.
