My guess is that, given the geographic location of Japan in relation to China, visitors to Shotoko from China's mainland, referred to his island territory as "land of the rising sun"..., because to the Chinese, that was a natural observation. And so the Chinese word established for that land across the sea to the east was reben, or root of the sun.So maybe Shotoku was only innocently conveying what he thought was just a fact of life. And for us in the West, we view Japan as that coveted place in the world first to toast the New Year. :-)

The name Sunrise land is really nothing special in East Asia if you think about it. First people called Gija Joseon or Wiman Joseon Joseon(朝鲜) which roughly means bright sunrise(朝日鲜明) for it was located on the east of other Chinese states. Then the Qin dynasty was formed, people in India started calling China Cīnasthāna or something, the Chinese translated it to 震旦/振旦/真旦 which also means bright sunrise because China was on the east side of India. And there's Japan, except this time there's only the Pacific on its east.
@lawrence4318

The Joseon you refer to is not Japan but what the Chinese referred to as "the land of the morning freshness", or calm, i.e. Korea.

Buddhism and Christianity are also spreading from China to Japan at that time Yes, Christianity too Shoutoku-Taishi is a name given by people of later generations His name is Umayado-no-Miko It is said that there was a relationship with Soga-no-Umako So Umayado-no-Miko But with Umayado there is a meaning of a horse's cabin. However, in legend, his mother got pregnant because the Bodhisattva came from the west and got into the body. And he was born in a horse cabin. (Have you heard a similar story, do not you?) And he had superhuman ability and assisted Emperor Suiko……… Japan's first constitution was made by him. It is interesting because he promoted Buddhism

Not unlikely, since there are stories of foreigners (not chinese or korean) that came to Japan through China during the Sui and the Tang, to help with stuff Japan was not familiarized yet, like some advanced (for the time) engineering and building. Maybe some Christians from central Asia found their way to Japan and got the stories going, and inspired derived stories. But the religion christianity in itself didn't have any real spreading, back then, though.

Let's make an opinion If you come to Japan from Korea's KUdara, they must use the Reman current. Because it conflicts with Tsushima current, they become hard to come to Japan If you use seasonal wind, you can go to Korea from Japan.To the contrary it is impossible for an ancient ship without a keel to cross the rough ocean in winter So many people are impossible to come from Korea If they have technology and come from Europe, the presence of the keel will be known There is a keel from ancient EgyptIf they have technology and come from Europe, the presence of the keel will be known. There is a keel from ancient Egypt. In other words, they may have been nomads, but inconsistency will occur. The nomads wealth is domesticated animals themselves. Will they give up on it? It should not be. Somewhere, something is wrong. Besides, Emiko Suiko comes from Soga, but he has not defended Soga Clan at all. Emperor Suiko's child is not on the seat of the Emperor. Geographical factors, rights etc. Comprehensively thinking is this

At least one point is certain, that is, from the pre -Qin dynasty, there have been 4 times large -scale immigrants from Chinese Han people to enter the Japanese islands and Korean Peninsula, which have a profound impact on the historical trends of China and Japan and ( Korean Peninsula ). Focus on reference materials : Asuka Period in Japanese history (538-710 AD) Nara period (710-794) in early Japanese history ) The Chinese carefully taught the primitives of Japan (and korea) at the time to teach the knowledge of rice, cutting wells, manufacturing agricultural tools, spreading medicine, textiles and other knowledge. They pushed Japan from the brutal primitive society to a slave society. Chinese Han people's four large -scale immigrants enter the Japanese islands record : 1. Qin and Han Dynasty Qin Shihuang (秦始皇 259-210 BC) swept the six regions. In order to escape the war, the Chinese people fled to Japan in two ways: Some Chinese people crossed the sea from the Northeast to the Korean Peninsula to Japan. Japan. 2. During the Wei, Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties (420 -589 BC) During the period of "Upheaval of the Five Barbarians 五胡亂華", in order to avoid the war, the Chinese people began a wave of migration to a large -scale migration around. Most of the fleeing Chinese finally went to Japan, forming the climax of immigration to Japan. The representative is Liu Azhi (劉阿知), the descendant of Emperor Han Xian(漢獻帝). 3. The Sui and Tang Dynasties (581-907 BC) Japan sent a large -scale Tang ambassador to China to visit China, while China sent a large number of people to spread advanced technology and culture to Japan. Most of these people are monks or cultural scholars. They are left as required by the Japanese because of the difficult sailing and welcomed by Japan. They often stay and "domestication" into the Japanese. The representative is the monk Jianzhen(監真). 4. The Song (960-1279)and Ming dynasties(1368-1644) In the Yuan Dynasty, the Han people in the southern Song Dynasty broke their families. In order to avoid the war and kill, they moved to Japan one after another. The representative of this period was scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty - Lanxi Daolong(蘭溪道隆). ------------------------------------------------------- In ancient China. Due to the escape or expansion of territorial reasons. There were many records of the Han people moved to the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese islands (including Okinawa). Establishing small countries and regimes on these islands (representing Chinese senior officials rather than emperor). In addition to the later period of Japan (because of the ocean). The Han regime on the Korean Peninsula has always been the ancient Chinese territory and the scope of direct jurisdiction (but sometimes it is similar to the different phenomenon of political opinions from the central government. It is similar to the situation in Taiwan and Hong Kong today. When the relationship between Taiwan and Hong Kong and the central government is bad. Sometimes they think they are independent countries or claim to be non -Chinese). The history of the establishment of a regime on the Korean Peninsula (Goguryeo, Baiji, Silla, Goryeo early). It is not the history of the Korean people. Instead, it is the history of the local regime of the Han people in northern China.These royal family and nobles are Chinese and descendants who move to the peninsula. They are wearing Han nationality clothing and using Chinese characters. They also claim to be the Han family. Only some civilians and slaves are indigenous people from the south of the peninsula (Koreans). This is very certain. (A large number of ancient Chinese tombs were unearthed on the 2/3 Korean Peninsula today. Han murals (depicting the lives of the Han people in the north), the fairy and god beast of the Han nationality.Han religion. Chinese character stone monument. Han Dynasty coins. ........... The southernmost part of the peninsula is unearthed in the original and backward Korean national life tools. It can be seen that the extremes of two different ethnic groups( Chinese VS Korean ) and different civilizations exist at the same time in the same period of the peninsula history. * The Founder of Goguryeo, JUMONG(朱蒙) Is Actually Chinese Pronunciation. Goguryeo was a northern Han area (and different government opinions, like the relationship between Taiwan and Hong Kong today) in the Tang Dynasty's governance regime. Baekje, SILLA is also the place of power governance in China. These are regional regimes created by the Han people in the north. (Obviously prove this from a lot of historical data and unearthed cultural relics). The original Korean indigenous people at the southernmost tip of the Korean are slaves. They were convened and became slaves. They were wearing pure white (no dyes and technology) and women showing her nipples as beauty. This is the custom of Korean people. * Goryeo's founding king-Wang Jian (王建). Wang Jian (王建) is very obviously the immigrants or descendants of the Han people (whether the culture of clothes is the Han culture), this possibility is quite high. Because Wang Jian is the descendant of the Chinese (Han), the regime he has established follows the abbreviation of the ancient country Goguryeo, as the new national name Goryeo. The North Korean people at the southern end of the peninsula were called as workers and slaves (wearing pure white clothes and women to show nipples). Later, they became the civilians of Goryeo. The history of the Korean nation is the history of slave. They have never sovereignty.

Why did you talk about China and Korea as whole entities? Weren't they composed of several ethnicities? Did each one speak a common language?

Soga-no-umako was Sogudo race who came from Tarkey as well as Yang Kuei fei. Prince Shotoku sent a letter to Sui dynasty, was written as follows " Prince of the place of rising sun wrote a letter to king of the place of sun set. Do you have any complain about?" Even anscient people thought Japan as rising sun country.

"here was an inferior vassal state" you seem to be telling history from a Chinese point of view. Japan was not a vassal state from any country since the first Japanese emperors were established. Japan traded with many other countries in Asia including in South East Asia.

I didn't read that line like that. I understood it as not reflecting the reality, but rather the personal perception of the Chinese Emperor, who believed that he and he alone had a mandate from the Heaven itself to rule the world, and all other kingdoms existed only because he tolerated them.

Man, that names almost so long that by the time you're done saying it, their class in school would be done. Think about the kid's school life man. Sometimes you just shouldn't take everyones suggestions. I think a better suited name would be "Jugemu Jugemu Unko Nage Ki Ototoi no Shin-chan no Pantsu Shinpachi no Jinsei Balmunk Fezarion Isaac Schneider San Bun no Ichi Junjyou na Kanjyou no Nokotta San Bun no Ni wa Sakamuke ga Kininaru Kanjyou Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiruyou de Shinranai no wo Boku wa Shitteiru Rusu Surume Medaka Kazuno Kokoedame Medaka….Kono Medaka wa saki no to wa Chigau Yatsu Dakara Ikeno Medaka no Hou Dakara Raa-yuu yuuteimiouki Mukou Pepepepepepepepepepepepe Bichiguso Maru"

This thesis is wrong as usual. Then-current Japan never adopted Confucianism, but Buddhism. The reason is rather not to be dependent on China than the Empress's preference because Buddhism is more universal religion originated from India.There is major misunderstanding that Japan has been Sino-centric Confucianism country like Korea among western countries. Prof. Huntington made same mistake at the 1st version of 'Clash of Civilization' but he revised the part later.

As for embracing Confucianism, I think that if you interviewed a member of the Samurai warrior class you would discover something different.
