If we are going to keep cars for 10-20 years with minimum wear on engine then we should do more engine oil/filter changes than Manufacturers recommendations. Manufacturers want less maintenance costs for cars over 5 years. They no longer care how long your car lasts including Toyota. Replace oil and filter at first 1000km followed by every 5-6000km or 6 months. India is a very dusty country. Clean engine and clean filters will allow more life on oil rings, O rings, valves, crank parts. Even if its synthetic- replace it more frequently. Engine oil is inexpensive as compared to engine parts.

Good man. Another thing is that many of us don't want to breathe the polluted air around us in signals and traffic jams. Which is why the Air conditioning is on almost all the time. It's important to know that the fuel (Petrol/Diesel/CNG/Electric) is still being burnt/used for that time. My very good mechanic recommends that a change of engine oil and the oil filter is required every 4500Kms if you're driving in a city predominantly. I think it makes sense based on driving style, use of AC, etc. Hope I'm making sense.
@niteshramwani15993 күн бұрын
Agreed with sir in all hyundai owners manual cars it is written if car is run in dusty environment..replace the filter in 5000 kms and also if car is run in city traffic regularly oil should be replaced in every 5000 kms...

Applicable to all cars.and all engines.kuch mat karo bas engine oil change karo..time se pehle _car will never give dhoka.read about preventive maintenance.bulletproof reliability ho jayegi apki car ki.oil is cheaper than replacing parts.also people should learn basics about cars from you _tube otherwise workshops and mechanics will make your 100 rs bills to 10000rs.also big workshops do the same after all we are indians.turbo engine suks in more air for fuel air mix...hence better combustion for fuel which implies more power.

Another worth watching video as always. Here is what I learnt- 1. Fuel Filter cleaning approx at 5K kms, replacement as per the manual 2. Air Filter cleaning approx at 5K kms, replacement as per the manual 3. Engine oil grade should be as recommended. Always prefer synthetic oil of mentioned grade. 4. Engine oil level and color should be optimum. 5. Coolant level and color should be optimum. 6. Radiator and condenser coil cleaning - yearly once. 7. 95 octane fuel 8. Maintain 25% fuel always. 9. Engine ideal for 20-30 secs after every start and stop.

Sunder g and Munish g it was a good topic. My Verna CRDI clocked 2,10,000km . Till now working perfectly without any issue. Always used fully synthetic mobile oil mostly shell or castrol 5W30. Never missed or delayed any service but serviced at 10000km interval. At every wash i get air filter cleaned by air pressure or vaccum pump. I check engine oil level periodically. I use System D fuel addictive 1ml per L after 3-4 tank fulls. At car wash i insure pressure wash of radiator. I log every fuel entry in app named FillUp this way i get to know that problem if any due to excessive fuel consumption. But Never used idling of engine i dont belive in that but i always ensured to not rev the engine to high speeds till the engine wams up. I enjoyed the talk but you missed topic of taking care of intercooler and EGR (exhaust gas recirculation).

I used to be a professional race car driver at volkswagen motorsports. as far as i am concern turbocharger needs rest after 2.5-3 hrs of spirited driving. there are several sensors in the car but there's no sensor in the turbocharger that receives the temp. of the turbocharger. Race cars and heavily tuned cars are the major examples of a heated turbo as they tend to blow up in long boost pressure range and if not given appropriate rest to it. 😊

Thanks to Sunderdeep and Munish ji for providing these invaluable insights into maintaining turbo engines effectively. These guidelines, if followed diligently, can enhance engine reliability, save money on repairs, and extend the vehicle's lifespan. Summary of Turbo Engine Maintenance Insights Input to the Engine: Air and Fuel Air Intake: Ensure regular cleaning or replacement of the air filter. Frequency: Change or clean the air filter every 7,000 km in dusty or desert regions to maintain airflow and efficiency. Prevent air contamination by maintaining a clean air filter system, reducing strain on the turbocharger. Fuel System: Use octane-rich fuel to enhance combustion efficiency and improve mileage. Maintain a minimum fuel level of 25% in the tank to prevent contaminants from entering the fuel pump and affecting fuel filter and engine performance. Periodically check and clean the fuel injectors to ensure optimal delivery of fuel. Conversion Mechanism: Combustion and Power Generation Combustion Efficiency: Use the manufacturer-recommended lubricant grade to reduce friction and ensure smooth engine operation. Allow the car to idle for 1-2 minutes after starting to ensure proper lubrication and cooling system functionality before full operation. Turbocharger Functioning: Avoid immediate shutdown after high-speed driving (>80 km/h). Recommended: Allow the engine to idle for 10-20 seconds to cool down the turbocharger and prevent thermal damage. Check the coolant level regularly and ensure it is at the optimal level, especially in hilly areas, to manage heat dissipation during power generation. Output Delivery: Power and Cooling System Cooling System: Ensure the radiator is cleaned periodically to allow unrestricted airflow for optimal cooling. Maintain the coolant color (pink for Hyundai) as a sign of proper coolant health and effectiveness. Clean the gap between the condenser and radiator to avoid blockages caused by mud, dust, or other contaminants. Recommendation: Clean by dismantling the condenser and radiator to prevent fin damage during the cleaning process. Power Efficiency: Regularly inspect the turbo system for leaks, wear, or improper functioning to maintain power delivery. Monitor engine oil levels and quality to ensure consistent output and longevity. Recommendations to Enhance Car Reliability Air System: Regularly replace or clean filters, especially in challenging environments. Inspect intake ducts for blockages or leaks to ensure unimpeded air supply. Fuel System: Use high-quality, manufacturer-specified fuel to maintain performance. Schedule periodic fuel system maintenance to prevent clogging or wear. Lubrication: Use the correct grade of lubricant for car. Change oil at manufacturer-recommended intervals to reduce wear and tear. Cooling System: Maintain coolant levels and quality, especially for turbocharged engines operating in diverse terrains. Avoid overheating by ensuring the radiator, condenser, and cooling system are free from contaminants. Turbocharger Care: Follow the startup and shutdown idling recommendations to protect turbo components.

Thanks for this excellent video, Sunderdeepjee & Munishjee. One thing I want to highlight is the use of “minimum ROZ” petrol & “recommended ROZ” by the manufacturer. Without a second thought one should opt for “recommended” Octane number petrol instead of “minimum” Octane number petrol. This is not a requirement but a need for all turbo-charged vehicles. Now, here is the turnaround - I purchased VW Tiguan this year & this vehicle, by no doubt, is an excellent product. The challenge is the fuel recommended for VW Tiguan is 98 Octane & minimum is 95 Octane. In India, you do not get 98 Octane petrol. What you get is either 99 Octane (HP Power 99) or 100 Octane (Indian Oil XP 100). These have pretty limited outlets in cities itself & in highways, virtually none of these outlets exists. While in city, this isn’t a problem, this possess a challenge for me refuelling in highways using the recommended fuel. Using minimum Octane means, you would be driving this vehicle in highways within low speeds only (probably 60 kmph as per the manual). What would be your recommendation on these areas?

i like this technical discussion but one thing to highlight is these tgdi engines are so complicated and precise if anything goes south be prepared ,i always suggest turbo mpfi rather than tgdis for those who seek some reliability ,Tgdis have been known to be complicated and have reliability issues worldwide. Edit-Morever this injection technology was introduced in petrol cars by VW for the 1st time in india as far as i know, and this very technology is the reason for all the complaints of VW cars in india since then as Mr Munish told importance of all the maintenance tips with correct fuel type,oil change etc(NA engines never required this level of maintenance and care )all of this is not possible by a non enthusiast and who see’s car as a mere commuter and any tgdi can be pain if not maintained . So turbos are fun but if you want reliable fun (Mpfi turbo>>tgdi turbo(no offence to VW fans,just talking practical)
@naveedhassan73994 күн бұрын
T-GDI engines, like those used in Hyundai and Kia vehicles, can have reliability issues primarily due to low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI), carbon buildup on intake valves, and accelerated wear on components like timing chains. These problems arise from the harsher operating conditions of T-GDI systems compared to traditional turbocharged engines like VW's 1.0 TSI, which tend to be more robust and have fewer reported issues related to carbon buildup and oil dilution. Proper maintenance and using recommended engine oils can mitigate some reliability concerns with T-GDI engines
@Thesimpsonsyt-kg6zp4 күн бұрын
@@naveedhassan7399 LSPI is common with smaller displacement engines so 1.0 VW engine is no exception and they have been known for this worldwide ,turbocharger failure,carbon deposit and LSPI is common for these smaller displacement engines as far as i know (Do correct me if i am wrong)so i guess smarter decision is to get a turbo MPFI and get rid of this sophisticated direct injection ,just complicates things .

Don't know how this video popped up. Very insightful,easy, logical, sensible. Keep it up guys. Need your suggestion about engine oil, True, brand have mentioned about the engine oil grade in the manual. But they are using very low quality e.oil with the same grade during servicing in the showroom. I did some research and put idemitsu fully synthetic e.oil kind of 2 to 2.5times costly. I took some risk knowingly and instead of 5w-30, i put 0W-20. Dint feel anything worse. Now it feels buttery smooth engine compare to other 3cyl tata😅, took significantly less time to reduce the rpm under 1000 under idle cold start condition, acceleration has improved. But will it have any consequences?? I know these manuals are developed by some engineers who build this engine and knows in n out. Just need some expert opinion. I owns a nexon petrol.

I’ve been using i20 diesel (2nd hand, 3.6L) since 2019, had an option of polo diesel (4.5L) at that time but couldn’t because of budget. Now I was thinking that I’ll go for kylaq but in my heart always had virtus GT 1.5 DSG but again it’s out my budget which is 12-13, max I can stretch is 14-15. So now I’m confused between my mind(kylaq) and heart (virtus). My most run is in village area, no traffic where I live but poor road conditions. And 4-5 1000+ kms trips in a year. Will ground clearance be an issue if I go for virtus, cause my i20 gets crashed every now & then? And should I go for automatic with kylaq or manual, if I buy that?

Ground clearance is pretty good in Virtus but Kylaq will be even better due to higher ground clearance and shorter wheelbase. Go for Kylaq automatic since that is the car in your budget and automatic with turbo cars are seamless and very relaxing in long or city drives. Paji, I want your advise from Munish Ji. I have tata Nexon Petrol 2020 model and a lot of PETROL Tata Nexons are facing OIL COOLER FAILURE withing before even clocking 30k kms. Fraud tata motors has not even recalled these units ETHICALLY and you can see youtube and nexon facebook groups flooded with these oil cooler failures where these units are sitting in SCs for oil coolant mixed issue. Do you think its a manufacturing issues or is it something has to do that tata was using 5w30 before 2020 and then post 2020 they have switched to 0w20? There is no guy in Tata also who we can ask if they have fixed this issue in new batches of oil coolers.

Hello Sunderdeep Ji, I have vento which has run 1.2 lakh kilometer and I recently got an EGR issue. I was told that it might have to replaced by the VW service centre, instead I got it cleaned at known service centre. It was working fine for few days and one day suddenly I had the same issue pop where there drastic drop in power and turbo was not getting kicked in. So please can you help me or suggest me what would be the best way to get this issue resolved ? I am bit worried to take it on the Highway, thinking it might lead to more problems later. Thanks in advance for all your help of advice with this.

One more thing, if you have manual turbo petrol car, once car crosses the speed of 10kmph, shift to second gear as soon as possible, as in first gear RPM will be high & load on Engine will be higher resulting in temperature shoot up & more stress on clutch plate. Moreover if your car has traction control, try to keep it off in city bumper to bumper traffic.

Sir, is replacing the air filter necessary or a general cleaning is also okay?

Weird thing I have noticed in Honda City 2013 MY. I would be grateful if there is a video made on it or atleast a response to my comment. I'm very peculiar of how I maintain my car, even though it is NA and 90% of the times Highway driven (1000 kms a month on an average) I get the oil changed every 6 months and air filters replaced, only use shell vPower fuel and maintain half tank when parked and so on....! Now that we know there is no temperature guage in older Honda cars, I bought one OBD compatible multi information guage to monitor engine behaviour and changing numbers under different driving conditions. Strangely, what I have noticed in Honda city is that when the A/C is on the coolant temperature never crosses 82-84 degrees and oil temperature never crosses 85-88 degrees. However when A/C is turned off coolant temperature goes up to 95 before cooling system kicks in. Please shed some light.

Looks like Sunder paji forgot when VW created a few records with 1L &1.5L TSI engines in Taigun & Virtus running for 24hrs on NTRAX, Indore. And same thing was highlighted by Ashish Gupta ji in one of the interviews with paji where Mr. Gupta was wearing pagadi in the intro.

I would like to question on not resting the car topic @sunderdeep singh I understand about the engine being able to support such long distances. But wont the tyres be vulnerable to the continuous friction on the road ?
