To be fair I think Tiana never asked her friend for a favor in starting her restaurant due to her work ethic of earning what you want through hard work. Speaking of her friend, I love how even in the middle of a party trying to woo a prince, she immediately drops everything to personally help Tiana get some clean clothes after her accident, she's the definition of Spoiled Sweet.

Kaleem McIntyre that’s true, but I think a lot of people tend to forget to realize with animated family films, they’re only usually an hour long with a few more minutes to spare. I guess these companies believe kids don’t have that kind of attention span so some things are cut or half-assed but I think they ought to add more time to explain things a little more. It’s like with the first Frozen. If that movie had longer time (like I believe we all thought it would because it’s like an epic) there could’ve been more fleshed out for the story (sort of like the Broadway Musical... sort of).

I stand by the take that Lottie is an underappreciated character in the long run. She's a spoiled rich white girl, in the 1920s, in THE SOUTH. And her best friend is a black woman, and she gives 0 effs about it. And drops everything for her bestie when she's needed. Even happily giving her the money she needs despite Tiana NEVER asking (as Lily pointed out, it was conveniently just enough). She might be a rich girl, but she really was super sweet and deserves to be remembered as a good person and a good friend. That said, for some parts of the movie, yes, someone needs to be swatted on the back of the head, preferably Dr. Cox style.

The spells cure doesn’t have any technicalities. The issue is with the title of Princess, Charlotte is technically a Princess but only during Mardi Gras, Tiana is a Princess after marrying Naveen. The only confusing part is why Tiana turned into a frog but Charlotte didn’t, best I can figure is Charlotte had pure motives and Tiana was bribed.

I never did understand Mama Odie's song. "Digging a little deeper" tells us literally nothing, and what those two need is really to be human. Not love. Navine never wanted it, does fine without it. Tiana loves her family and has passion for her future, which is why she works hard to reach her goal. I can assume she's only a workaholic because that's literally the only thing getting her by.

The prince never really changed, he remained a prince. You can say that he stopped being such an asshat, but he's still singing and dancing his way through the movie. Even his being a prince doesn't change and actually ends up being the reason why the movie ends happily. So what is this telling the audience if not, Tiana's dream didn't matter, she just needed a man in her life? And think about it, how where they going to live if he didn't just so happen to still be a prince? Answer, in literal squalor. How long do you think Tiana would have been happy with that? Never being with her mother or friends as a human but with this lackadaisical guy who doesn't have a care in the world.

One that he passed on to her through telling her how great a cook she was and by telling her all his plans when he got the building. When he died tiana didn't want his dream to go to waste, so she kept up the work. It's why her mom gets angry at her for saying that she wants her dad's dream to really mean something. Everyone is telling tiana throughout the movie that love is important, but she keeps pushing it aside to work more to get the restaurant.

Tiana would just be considered their business partner owning a restaurant the “couple” has invented in. Tiana and Charlotte disappear from the public’s eye a time or two, it’s reported that Tiana was staying by Charlotte’s side during particularly tough pregnancies, in truth it’s Tiana’s hidden pregnancies. The three of them were probably married in the swap by Mama Odie.

Y’know, as I get older, I find it more confused as to what exactly the moral of this movie is. Like I wanna say that it’s supposed to be “ balance work and play”, but that kinda falls flat when that wasn’t Tiana’s issue. Yeah she may have turned down hanging out with friends, but she clearly showed/stated that this was only until she achieved her goal. That and she’s doing all this because of her love for her father, so you can’t even say she needed to be reminded about love. There’s also the fact that Tiana and Naveene’s romance feels forced/unnecessary. Even more so when you could probably replace him with Charlotte with enough changes. (Maybe making Charlotte more party crazy and less boy crazy for example)

I expect that the reason Tia never asked Lottie to lend her the money is she values the friendship too much to risk her restaurant not paying off. If she went broke on it and couldn't pay the money back she would feel forever awkward around her best friend, and it's just not worth that. Sometimes our relationships with people are worth more than the material goods that person could provide.

I think the nucleus of the story was that you can't truly be happy without love in your life. Romantic love. They were both happy with themselves and loved themselves. Tiana had her mother and community to love her and she loved them. Navine was content and loved himself. The only way their lives were improved by each other was the sway navine had to get her her restaurant (which lottie could have done anyway) and keep navine connected to his family?? His plot was unclear. Best ending is navine, lottie and tiana end up in a poly relationship and support each other and love each other very much.

I understand that sentiment but as a business student asking for loans is a fairly common business practice. Not because people are lazy, but because the longer an idea is in development the higher that chance it might not make it to market. Movies have ingrained this idea that if a business owner doesn’t save up every penny to open up shop 100% on their own, they’re not as hardworking, but balancing loan payments, keeping interest in mind and making sure to work investment connections is equally important.

The thing I really hate about the ending is the dumb reasoning as to why Tiana turns down the deal with Dr. Facilier about her restaurant. Her most prominently shown character trait is that she believes she needs to work for what she has, and doesn't want it just given to her, and that could be the reason she declines. Disney didn't give this movie much care, they half a** it and the story was not that interesting. And i really really despise the fact they made the two main characters frogs for most of the movie. Never have the princesses in any Disney film been changed into a creature, especially for majority of their movie.

If I remember correctly it along with Treasure planet was sacrificed by Eisner to kill off 2d animation because he wanted 3D animation to be big.
