@dellhell88424 жыл бұрын
Beautifully narrated. I guess the lesson is, no one gets to live a fairytale all of their life. Grace was the same age as my mother and Grace's grandfather came from the same county (Mayo) in Ireland. So my mother always saw Grace as a heroine who had things my mother could never have; incredible beauty, poise, self-confidence, wealth, fame and the power to do good. She was very saddened by her untimely death, just as she was by the JFK assassination, two decades earlier. JFK and Grace were to my mother, the ultimate example of what Irish people could achieve, when unconstrained by the then limitations of their own country. Despite all that she had, Grace had, like all of us, her struggles and imperfections. In a ferociously competitive family and against her parents will, she threw a curve ball to become an actress, an Oscar winning actress. She was not a goddess, she was a real flesh and blood woman who was, unsurprisingly, attracted to men. She threw another curve ball by marrying her Mediterranean prince. In less than a year, she had to adjust as a new wife and mother to a new role, in a new country, with a new culture, and a new language. I always thought Prince Ranier looked restless and like he was carrying a lot of weight on his shoulders, as the sole ruler of his tiny vulnerable principality. He may also have had some post traumatic stress disorder from his wartime experiences. He aged prematurely as did Grace. There are reports of affairs by both parties in their marriage, who knows their veracity, frankly, who cares. What she and her husband did for the public good was of much greater importance than any private indiscretions they may have had. Some of the images of her in the decade before she died do show a sadness in her famous smile. She said herself she was struggling with the paparazzi and media lies in raising her kids. I think she was also very stressed by some poor life choices her kids made. In addition to what she did to promote Monaco, she used her fame and limited power in wider ways to support good causes, highlight injustices and support the arts and of course was and is a fashion icon. Hers was a life well lived, elegance personified, an astonishingly beautiful and great woman.

My wife is a dead ringer for Priness Grace. Not kidding. A number of years ago we were in Monte Carlo & took a your tour of the palace. My wife had her hair put up & the big portrait of the family shows Grace with her hair up. Anyway, we exited the palace & into the castle yard & walked toward the gardens & noticed that people kept looking at us. I thought something was wrong & looked at both of us up & down. Nothing wrong. People still kept turning & looking & then it finally hit me. I said to my wife as it finally dawned on me, with her sunglasses on on & her hair up. I said: Hon, do you know why they're staring at us? YOU look almost identical to Grace Kelly in that photo. Incredible experience.

Grace and the Prince were not enduringly happy. Within months he was back with his mistress. It is widely known in Europe and the USA that Grace was a oversexed nymphomaniac with a liking for her married leading men. Crosby, Gable, Holden to name but a few. He didnt fall in love, he went openly looking for a Hollywood name to improve both the image and fortunes of his beautiful but shandy gambling focused Monaco. After 5 years Grace wanted out, it was her mother who advised her to stay because the Prince would ( by the laws of their prenuptial contract) retain full custody of the children. Her last years were miserable, she was dogged by weight gain, depression, and short sad affairs with young men. Grace used her acting skills to the full to convince the Prince, Monaco and the world that she was a worthy Princess, unfortunately she found the guilded cage came with a heavy price.

She is not the murderer of her mom. She didn't drive that day. And she was a beautiful and sensitive girl, not a man. Shame on all of those few who wrote this. Grace was really in love with Rainier. She was the most beautiful actress in Hollywood. She loved her family but she suffered for her two daughters. They were very outrageous and rebel at that time. Anyhow Grace Kelly's legacy is timeless. She and her husband have given to the world the most romantic fairy tale.

This movie actually paints Grace Kelly as a normal woman who chose to follow her maternal instincts and marry and have children rather than continue as a movie star. What this well-made doc seems to be saying is that, rather than being glamorous or special, she was actually a very ordinary woman who had worldly prestige and stature, but remained exactly who she always was. The girl next door.
@dynahvelvixin.86154 жыл бұрын
No she was a talented actress movie star. But she fell in love with the fantasy of been a Princess. She was never happy with Prince Rainer. She made the biggest mistake marrying into royalty. Now she done her duties as a Princess but she was very unhappy. If she had stayed in hollywood and remained an actress she would of been happier. But she couldn't divorce as she came from a strict catholic family who didn't believe in divorce and even if she did she wouldn't if been able to see her children. There was literally no way out for her. May she RIP. ❤❤
