Can you use this to change a clear plastic's tint color? For example, changing an orange tinted canopy to blue tinted?
@FALCONMINISTUDIOSКүн бұрын
Unless the tint is a film over the plastic that can be removed with a plastic safe paint remover, if the plastic came like that in the molding process then you won't be able to change the color it will just become a different color. This only works best if the plastic is colorless.

Thanks for the video! I believe this is just what I need for a few of my cars. Quick question, can cracked windshields be fixed by dipping them in tamiya x-22 ?
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you for your comment. With a crack windshield i suggest adding a thin drop of glue. Sand it down with a 4000 or 6000 grit sand paper and then dip it in the X-22 try that, it should work.

Nice video! Have you ever had the issue where the polish will not lay flat or kind of beads off the clear plastic? I had a coat of this already done and have done many times. Went to apply a final coat and the wax keeps running off and won't fully over the glass it had already worked fine on the first time. It was high humidity that day, I was wondering if that could effect it.
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Yes I have faced that issue several times and I discovered the best way to fix it is by using a 1000 grit sand paper and scuffing the entire part. After that clean with alcohol let it dry and then dip it in the clear coat. That will make a difference. Please let me know how it goes 👍

Where may I find your solutions (the X-22 & the future Floor wax)? I’m interested to know. Edited: is the X-22 an acrylic paint? And the future floor wax any specific brand or will any floor wax work? (I understand not all floor wax are chemically identical)
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS3 жыл бұрын
I personally never used any other brands of floor wax but I think as long as is floor wax it should work fine. Your local home improvement stores should have them if not try Amazon. X-22 is not a paint even though they call it clear paints in my opinion they are more of a thick dye. You can get those at your local hobby shops or if not Amazon as well.

I want to try this on a button. After I do this process, do I need to coat it again with something so that the hands won't damage it over time? Great vid!
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS2 жыл бұрын
A nice crystal clear button would look really cool, thank you for your comment. I would suggest get yourself some UV resin and dip the button in there. Let as much of the resin to drop off as possible just leaving a thin even coat all over the button. Cure the resin with the natural sun or a UV lamp or flash light. This will guarantee the button will never lose that effect. Just try your best not to touch it with dirty hands but you should be good. Also make sure to wear sun glasses when curing the resin protect your eyes and do it some where out doors if possible.

Interesting video, thanks for posting it. Do you know if using X-22 on a canopy will protect it from fogging or crazing when using CA / plastic glues to attach it to the fuselage? Also would there be any advantage to airbrushing it onto a canopy rather than dipping it?
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS3 жыл бұрын
Your welcome! Using x-22 will protect it from fogging as long as you use small amounts of ca glue. I suggest use cannopy glue instead it is more flexible and a small amount will dry clear , strong and blend in well. You can also airbrush x-22 as long as you dulite it properly with Tamiya lacquer thinners but you still might get some what of a frosty finish as opposed to a smooth one. Experiment and see how you like it. Thanks for the comment 😊

It is only possible if the acrylic piece you have is tinted black by factory, in the case that is a solid black meaning it was liquid and tinted black then you won't be able to make it clear. However you can make that look like glass.

You can with any ink washes or the same tamiya clear paints. For them to work as a tint they should be used with an air brush for best results and thinned down well of course!

Future floor wax is hard-to-find since the name has been changed several times. First to Pledge Floor Care, multi surface finish. Then to another name I don't remember. I have some Pledge Floor Care yhat yellowed with age in the bottle. Have you had a problem with it changing color after use? I primarily use it as paint medium. Thanks.
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
Yeah they did change its name but it seems like it's still the same formula. I saw somewhere that they did change it up a bit but it was an improvement. I did use this in the past and did also notice a slight yellowing on the liquid but it did not make much of a difference when I used it on plastic clear parts. For the most part it still works well in creating that clean glass effect. Future floor wax as a paimt medium sounds interesting. I also use it on models to add some pin washing on panel lines with oil paints.
