4:39 It’s not that foam core is made of poor quality materials, but rather that the finishes are solvent to the plastic that forms the foam. They’re simply incompatible. In fact, it might be worth experimenting with that solvency. Perhaps one could quickly ‘draw’ a fieldstone wall using a mild solvent with a pen or brush.

Nice tutorial. Any idea what colours to use for black marble?

Thank you! I would suggest black as the base, dark grey, light grey, and beige. Following these same steps beginning from the darkest colors up to the lightest. Finally a wash of diluted black to tie everything together and give it that "black marble" appeal. Perhaps I should make a video on other different color marble effects beginning with black! ✌️

I make my own iron oxide (rust) by putting about 3 or 4 rolls of 0000 steel wool in a quart jar and fill up with white vinegar and set it in the window for a couple of months. When the mixture is mostly dissolved I pour it out into a flat pan or dish and wait for a couple of weeks for it to completely dry. Then I use a single edge razor blade and pulverize the mixture into a fine powder and store it in little tins. When you get ready to use it, use it just like a weathering powder. It looks like rust, 'cause it IS real iron oxide. You could mix it with alcohol and a little water soluble glycerin or mix with some lacquer thinner and use it like paint. It has a great texture. I use a top coat of Dull Coat to seal it all up. Cheers from eastern TN

I Don’t see a point of painting tutorials when everyone’s painting is different so trying to recreate this is pointless because it turns out nothing like it no matter what you do
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS7 ай бұрын
That's the beauty of this hobby, everyone has a different result and a style. What works for me might not work for you exactly but at least videos provide guidelines to help start if you don't know where or how to start. I suggest just keep practicing and and trying out different things that's how I've learned and still learning. ✌️

i dont think its about recreating it exactly. He is showing the steps and giving tips. everyone finds there own style they are happy with but it helps to learn how to do some glazed shading, wet blending or other techniques that they can apply in other projects.

@@FALCONMINISTUDIOS could I use any aircraft model windscreen or windows dipped in Tamiya X22 Gloss paint or should I use Tamiya X22 semi- gloss paint for the best windscreen effect? Which of the two gives best realistic glass effect? Also, is there a need to use Tamiya thinner mixed with the Tamiya clear paint once applied, or can it be used straight from the bottle? Nice video! Have you ever had the issue where the polish will not lay flat or kind of beads off the clear plastic? I had a coat of this already done and have done many times. Went to apply a final coat and the wax keeps running off and won't fully over the glass it had already worked fine on the first time. It was high humidity that day, I was wondering if that could effect it.
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Yes I have faced that issue several times and I discovered the best way to fix it is by using a 1000 grit sand paper and scuffing the entire part. After that clean with alcohol let it dry and then dip it in the clear coat. That will make a difference. Please let me know how it goes 👍

Awesome video - I have a question. I was going to try to make a silicone mold of a plastic miniature, and I wanted to know if instead of mold release, would I be able to melt Vaseline down or Coconut Oil to liquid form then apply it with a brush over the plastic miniature before adding the platinum silicone? Could I also apply either on the cured silicone before pouring the other half? I read that supposedly, it would act is a divider.
@FALCONMINISTUDIOS10 ай бұрын
Hello and thank you for your comment. You can definitely use oils as mold release as long as it is oily. Adding them between the two halves of ant mold really does help. I would also suggest adding the oil release agent to your molds before casting with resin. When the resin gets really hot it wears out the mold. Adding a form of mold release will alleviate the stress on the mold as well as give it a longer life ultimately allowing you to cast another one or two more casts before the mold begins to deform.
