I'm sorry but this is totally inferior to the previous one. Ben turning to the dark side is way to goofy & he basically did the exact same thing they did to Finn in the real movies. Finn is being majorly sidelined & essentially cucked by a Poe & Rey romance. Finn & Rey bonding over their training & him trying to convince her that Luke & Jedi have her best interest is a far better lead into a relationship. Plus this whole I'm here to save you speech from the Emperor is just plain stupid. The galaxy celebrated the death of the Emperor. So I don't see a plausible scenario where they'd celebrate his return.

The way Rey is written in this is brilliant, and her becoming the main character we all root for feels deserved. Also actually getting to see Ben's turn to the dark side and his fathers death and him being willing to do anything to bring him back is so much more interesting, and it's very George Lucas - it rhymes, it's history repeating itself, in the same way Anakin's love for Padme and fear of losing her caused him to fall, Ben's love for his father and desperation to bring him back causes him to follow the same path. Genius. Plus Luke actually having screen time and being the grandmaster we wanted to see while still having flaws, such as not paying attention to his nephews turmoil while putting most of his time into befriending the woman who killed his father, is really awesome. Oh, and a post credits scene implying Lando is going to play an important part moving forwards? Fuck yes. Can't wait for the FINale.

EXACTLY... written that way, the new character DESERVE our love and we root for them... Disney was so eager to ditch the old ones and pushed 'New heroes', it felt wrong on so many levels...
@unLUCKY95 Жыл бұрын
@@kyrrozz Something Disney are frequently guilty of doing is tearing down long beloved characters and making them look weak to lift up new characters. It's lazy writing, and it only adds to the disdain fans have for characters like Rey on top of the already obvious lack of thought they put into who she was and why she's able to become so powerful so quickly. They also completely missed the mark with Fin - they started out really well; him being a stormtrooper that grows a conscience and realises that what he's being ordered to do is wrong, then rebelling rather than falling in line, was the most interesting plot point of the ST for me. I was excited to see how he would develop as a character... then was sorely disappointed when he was demoted to a goofy, comic relief side character, and I felt really sorry for John Boyega because he's a great actor and could have given us a great performance had he been given the right material.
@kyrrozz Жыл бұрын
@@unLUCKY95 Agreed, They portrayed han and luke as old grumpy shmuck who failed their lives and goals after their short time of glory to try and make Rey the new obvious protagonist. How do you not see how wrong that is ? Finn is a big miss opportunity. He just do an 180 and never look back. No interior conflict, no flashback of his abduction/training by the New Order. He just went : ''I am good guy now. Here are some convenient knowledge about the new death star''. The major grip of it all is the fact they didnt had a story planned ahead for whole trilogy. They let 2 directors pulling in opposite direction. JJ.A desperatley wanting to 'remake' the old ones and Jonhson wanting to create an entire new franchise, spitting on all base concept. They are both at fault and Kennedy is the worst to let this mess happen. How did they not have a single story layout for the trilogy for a franchise this big is beyond stupid. What a waste !

What I also love about this version is that it has a very ESB-y cliffhanger. Will Luke survive his wounds and what will happen to Lando. What a great way to let the fans guessing until e9 comes out. Disney's version was "how do we undo the damage that's been done".

Bens fall reminds me of Anakin: someone truly good who has darkness and anger within and is then set off; Luke is the grandmaster Jedi he was always meant to become and he remains the Luke we all and love; Rey has depth to her character, and a truly brilliant arc. She becomes someone we can actually cheer on and admire even after what she’s done because she not only repents but realizes why, that she was just a tool (the granddaughter thing still doesn’t make sense though as Palpatine had no interest in having a family); Finn becomes another great character that we can admire, and Poe essentially takes over Han’s rooe I can hardly wait for part 3 aka your Episode 9.

This is exceptional work. I haven't felt butterflies in my guy like this for a Star wars story since I first played KOTOR years and years ago. The most incredible part of this is that you still managed to include the raw DNA of both the Disney trilogy and the legends continuity. It's absolutely astounding. The character's journey's are so fully developed and relatable. I understand all of their choices, although of course I don't agree with some of them (talking about Ben of course). There are great many compliments that this video and story deserve. The way that the story reuses and retools concepts that were present within the sequel trilogy in a way that is clearly far more planned out and considered. The way that the emperors portrayal connects back so well to the prequel trilogy, with the emphasis on his capacity as a political icon and orator. The tasteful ways that this story parallels the movies that came before it. (Ben resembling Anakin during his fall, and Ray resembling Vader during his redemption) and so on. This is just a really damn good piece of storytelling, both as a hypothetical Star Wars movie and on its own. As AI advances, perhaps we can get full scale, motion pictures like this generated by fans and cutting edge software, I hope so. Needless to say, I am on the edge of my seat and can’t wait for the undoubtedly satisfying conclusion.
