Bless these guys! I've always admired the Franciscans and the work they do. Please keep up the good work! God bless!

Thank you for doing what you do. Unfortunately many of these prisoners are ignored and forgotten.

I have been a volunteer at a JH for many years. Hurray for you! But I have never seen an invitation to me to volunteer at a prison. Do you think that there are not many of us who would go if we were invited? No, instead you are a select few Who seem ( special) you should be recruiting parishioners grandmas and grandpas. Invite us to be visitors at visiting hours. Sorry to me you sound like you are bragging. agreed

Prison ministry when done by a priest is not the same thing as a layperson volunteering. While both are valuable, a priest doing ministry can involve him giving sacramental grace to prisoners, which a layperson cannot do. Recruiting more people who are not priests would not help spread graces like those administered through confession.

Matthew 23:9-11 (KJV) And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

If one applies this passage literally and not as it is intended, it would be vicious to call one's own father "dad" or "papa".
