i couldnt say it better! also my fav pink floyd album. very ahead of its time and everything you say i agree with completely. im a huge syd head but its such a burst of life and sad that he couldnt be the creative genius driving them through later albums. but waters stayed true to syds vision (i believe) and even used him as the symbol behind so many of their popular albums.

Great review, aside from when you said the post-Waters stuff sucks. I think Pink Floyd has been pretty consistantly amazing. In fact, the only album I can't say is that great is the one that's only "performed by Pink Floyd." I think Saucerful is amazing because the material is way better than it needed to be. The band was going through an extremely tough time with losing their leader and having to bring in a new guy, yet the songs are extremely stable, catchy, and psychodelic. And I think there is a great benefit of having everyone involved with Roger Waters, Richard Wright, and Syd Barrett all contributing songs and all five members getting to sing.
