The fixed APR I'm getting for private student loans is better than Parent Plus loans right now.

I’m a parent and my son will be in college in a few months. We went to FAFSA and didn’t get any answer. I think it’s because my wife and i together make $200K. So am i right to go to a private loan banks and be a co-signer to my son?

I thought that a private student loan would take the place of a federal loan? Aka it would take the place of my GradPLUS?

But it's a promisory note (negotiable instrument) that we sign. We are the maker of the note. What are they doing with the note? Do they trade them on the security market?
