Question: Even among authentic German stein makers do they make some for tourists and some for locals? I collect steins, mugs and 'interesting' glassware but when I shop, I prefer to go with the stuff not marketed for tourists. Can I get your input on this? Are there tourist and non-tourist steins? Thanks.

Hi! I have a stein that was passed down to me from my grandmother and i cannot find anything about it online. It has a real german pewter lid but theres no markings anywhere on the stein! The painting on it is two people drinking or having a picnic by a tree and the sky is a dark blue with white bumps on it. The handle is made to look like either a tree with holly on it or an antler with holly on it. Any help would be appreciated!!

Hello KhaosKorp, the german made steins are safe to drink out of, they also have a minimum 95% pure pewter lid. You have to make sure to get an authentic one. Of course, a lot of people use them also as a decoration, but this is up to everybody himself. For a lot of use, a salt glazed stein is a good choice. Hi, i have a beer stein with the music moment at the buttom.There are words" Superstar swiss music moment " and some Germany language at the buttom . The music is working. The lid is light and no conjecture signs. There is a sign"DBGM" and "63" inside the lid. I'm ignorant about this. I found you on the google and I'm wondering if you can give me some history lesson about this if you can and obviously how much roughly it worth on the market at the moment. Many Thanks in advance! In the off chance you see this, I have two steins that read "Sankyo Japan" on the music box underneath. They are "earthenware" I believe? They display characters drinking beer together. The handle is a pale brown, and looks like a tree branch. Value?

If you are still looking for info on your steins, I can't tell if they are German or Japanese without photos. But, I will tell you that many German steins had Japanese music boxes. Earlier on the German stein companies used Swiss music boxes, but the company that made them stopped and the Japanese took up the slack.

Hello Tom, if the Stein says it is number 195 of example of 3.000. It is a limited Edition. There of course is a value, but this also depends in the other persons eye also, like I mentioned in the video ;)

Hello Marcus I just bought a zoller&born has the triangle stamp With cursive writing under it has A.F. initials limited edition 5000 its hand painted with austria on the bottom lid has made in Germany but the bottom doesn't have made in Germany is it authentic being zoller&born? I paid 3.99 in a thrift store and I don't want to resale if it's a knockoff.

Hi Markus, I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me? I have a Gerz Stein that im trying to find more information on. It was given to me by my uncle who was stationed in Germany after WW2. The Stein has a small music box on the bottom. It was glued in after the Stein was made. Is that common? The Stein and the lid all have have “W. Germany” markings, but the music box says SUPERSTAR switzerland Ein Prosit der Gemutlichkeit

Yes thats common, the stein gets made first. Music boxes are still coming alot from switzerland because the have the best quality

Hi, I would like to know if my beer Stein has any value. It’s a 4 in very heavy that says Western Germany on the bottom. It has this lettering Nach harter Arbeit and Ein frischer Trunk. Also it’s missing the lid and has a small chip on the bottom edge. Thank you for your advice.

Video was helpful but, while I was stationed in west Germany, I collected steins with out the Lids. I purchased a couple of Oktoberfest Steins and also a 1ltr. Mega Stein. Do they have any value?

The beerfest steins also of course have a value, but i can't give you a certain amount for them. A new Logostein for example is made every year.
