great video thanks. I have the same gearbox on my boat and I'm wanting to install the MT5036 oil pressure gauge to be able to monitor the pressure as part of my routine checks - could you tell me where it should be connected to the gearbox as its not specified in the manual - thanks

Great video, thanks. I understood the look in gear feature was for fishing boats offshore so they could always make it home (which makes sense, but is not necessarily true)

Its a useful option, one I'd have on any life dependent equipment. The canals are not exactly the high seas but still a nice option to be able to move. Safety first though

Love these prm videos. Been trying to fault find a couple of issues with my 160 and these helped my understand the mechanism a bit better. Since have the box rebuilt the overflow pipe is constantly filling with oil and spilling over especially when shifting fwd and reverse. The pipe is about a metre high but still reaches the top. Just yesterday gearbox starting doing a rattling sound when shifted in reverse. Assuming oil levels are fine considering the overflow. Would you have any suggestion about that? I don't have any valve on the overflow pipe. Is it meant to have something like that.

Interesting, the case on PRM boxes are not supposed to be pressurised. So if your venting fluids you have a major internal issue. As there is only so much oil in the sump this makes me suggest inspecting the clutches and cooling circuit. The only pressure is fed to lubricate bearings and when required charge a clutch pack when a direction of travel is operated. First I'd check the control valve assembly and then the cooling circuit. And then look inside. Expansion of oil may be a thing but the box would be boiling by that point i suspect.

@@dhcrouchmarineltd3049 thanks so much for taking the time. By checking the cooling do you mean check if the cooling is actually working? Or the configuration? When shifting from forward to reverse I get a surge or oil spurting out of the overflow but this is usually most full although it does stop filling at a certain point. It's just that the amount of oil I can see the metre long clear tube I attached seems quite significant. It fills relatively slowly.

@@cruiseryev has the oil cooler failed, coolant water will enter the gearbox and push oil out. Can you watsapp a video? 07809607630
