I play RF2 mostly as its the best sim IMO in terms of braking feel, tire deg, and feel in the wheel (you can feel flatspots and flak if you run offline etc) but like to jump on ACC here and there to change things up a bit. It is a fun game I agree...not really simulator, but some things I found to give you more "feel" are: -Increase "road impacts" settings to 20-30%. Its off by default -map a dial or set of buttons for "gain". You need to tune the gain for each car but avoid clipping. Each car will save that gain and it will auto load any time you use that car again. Some cars feel quite good (mostly the front engine cars) but others need quite a bit more gain to increase the feel (the mid-engine cars) and the Porsches. -Go into car setup and increase the caster by 1-2 full degrees. It does come through on the wheel and gives the front end more feel.

@@GSSimRacingyea for me, the braking is better then in acc because he's right, you got to slam on the brakes and hold longer. Also in AmS2 I definitely love how my wheel translates that feel of the cars weight. So when I'm entering a corner I can feel that weight tipping before I completely commit to the corner. Idk I've just been hooked and especially in VR

I used to be an Acc driver for about 2 years, i have been iRacing for 3 months and went back to Acc just now as week 13 on iRacing is hot garbage and i agree with you on many points the mid corner wobbling is annoying now and never really noticed it before, braking i had to turn the abs down to 1 as the braking distance feels much longer on the same tracks in GT3 especially also because i prefer GTE, LMP and GTP so driving a lot of cars without ABS but Acc for sure has the best tyre model in sim's atm as you have mentioned before, i realy wish iRacing would fix this before they bring in rain if not at the same time.

I wrap around 16:9 ratio would be enormous vertically. The 57" G9 is pretty close to the sweet spot, but not quite there. It has a couple inches more vertical real estate than the 49". The 57" is equivalent to 2 32" curved monitors for an aspect ratio of 32:9. A monitor equivalent to 3 32" monitors side by side in length at 32:9 aspect ratio would have 50% more vertical height than a 57" G9, which is plenty.

Hi Daniel, What type of car would you say is the most useful to get the fundamentals? IRL almost every top drivers (including you) started with gokarts which are raw vehicles. Would you say the same principle goes in simracing? Starting with no TC, no ABS vehicle helps to get a better sense of cornering dynamics? Also, do you think perfecting simpler tracks is a better way to improve? Many people (including myself) enjoy the Nordschleife, but i feel like short simple tracks help to repeat and compare again and again different sequences. I'd be glad to have you views on that. Keep going! ;)

Daniel, thanks for the videos and commentary. I've never had a simulator, and have only played with one for a couple hours. I've used a lot of the information from your videos to order stuff for my simulator that I'm in the process of building. There seems to be two schools of thought on sim rigs, one maximizes the gaming side of it, and another seeks to minimize the differences between the simulation and actual car. I'm really trying to make the simulator as close to an actual car as possible. So that's a long winded intro to the question....I noticed you are using triple 32" monitors. I'm torn between using triple 55" Samsung Arks or triple 32" 16:9 ratio monitors. Are triple 55's too big? It's not really a budget nor space concern for me but just trying to make it feel as real as possible.

Thanks for the great information. I'd like to ask how to better race neck and neck or drive defensively. I am kind of new but have been told I'm too aggressive sometimes. And sure enough I'm usually the one on the wrong end of the touch and go off. When can you block or how far does a car need to be beside you in a turn before you should give them the corner for instance. I've started my turn in and someone dives up. What do I do? If I turn in I get knocked out, if I back off I lose the spot. Even if I'm knocked out I'd be happy if I was doing the correct maneuver.

I can relate to the answer that was given to the first question. I felt the same wobble, reaction delay and it was driving me crazy which is one of the reasons I stopped playing ACC. I would have to start the turn so early which automatically makes it feel so unnatural. I tried so many settings and, hoped that some of the recent patches would fix it but it has not happened yet. I wish ACC could get some real GT pro drivers behind the game to assess the developer on how the cars should react because I believe ACC could be one of the best sims out there if they get that pro driver feedback.

Q: Hi Daniel. From your videos I understood that the braking works very different in iRacing and ACC. Thank you for bringing our attention to this difference. I understood that there is completely different timing in braking in ACC comparing to real life. My question is what will happen in the real car if you brake "like in ACC"? Will the tyre block completely? Will it not block completely but will overheat? What will be the behavior of the car at this moment, will it be unstable? My naive understanding is that ABS computer should in general work better than a driver on controlling the tyres while braking. Just to understand better, ok it's done wrong in ACC, but what will happen in the real car if you apply this incorrect technic? Thank you.

I got 1 special question wich you are probably the best to answer as you drive the same car in sim and irl. As you know, the braking is really realistic but there is 1 major difference i would love to compare. Irl , on a 1 lap run (no tyre wear managment), you slam the brakes as hard as possible without locking than go in the releasing phase. In sim, because of the tyre model, if you do that you kill your front tyres, overheat them, wich makes you lose grip at the apex. How do you decide the brake pressure to apply? And do you have any comparison (data based) wich shows that difference ?

Although I have never driven a GT3 on track, I expect the steering wheel to not behave and feel like it feels in ACC. I love the game but, as you say, I feel like the ffb is so far from being realistic. I'm still on a belt driven wheel and have always thought that a direct drive might improve this aspect. However, I also fear that a DD might make things even worse and I would waste my money. I have a lot of effects turned down in my wheel. I like a strong FFB but with few if none effect. Talking about the GT4, they do not even feel like race cars. I mean, my small real life car feels like a f1 in comparison. In short, I'm with you about ACC, although it's the only game I play atm because I love the way it looks and the community around it.

I do think the GT4 cars are very safe in ACC, even with aggressive setups. As for the GT3, I cannot comment on real life, but as far as the simulators go, ACC is probably the sharpest and most twitchy in the handling department. As for the FFB, I also think it is likely a setting you have, the wobble you mention I do not feel. Interestingly, RF2 has this weird thing where about 20 minutes into the session the FFB starts getting grainy on my Fanatec base.

Hi there, love you're videos! Great to hear from someone with real world experience! I'd like to just echo what quite alot of the comments here have suggested, I'd love to hear you're thoughts on Rfactor 2, mainley because it shares at least some base code with Rfactor Pro, which I know is used by real race teams for their simulators, I've always felt it feels like driving for real. Also I'd love to hear you're thoughts on iracings tire model, from the dev updates I read from them its very complex, but i do find that as soon as you are over the limit, in any kind of slide, it kinda falls apart, its almost like its got one kind of prescribed slide and if you're not in it, you're just gunna be facing the wrong way, are racing slicks really like this? I've never driven on them but I've seen F1 drivers drift F1 cars, with what seems like less effort than you'd have to in iracing. I can actually drift iracing, i've got a video on my channel showing this called "I Think I May Have A Drifting Problem", where i drift in several sims and at the end in iracing, but making this video was very hard when it came to iracing. I am aware I could be completely wrong about the tires in iracing when over the limit feeling odd, i've never driven racing slicks, so thats exactly why I'm asking you. Thankyou for any info you can offer, and again, very interested to hear you're thoughts on Rfactor 2. Cheers and thanks for the highley informative videos!

Not really. They are similar but the difference in real life is the fact that you can’t make mistakes so it takes amateurs longer to get to the limit or their limits. That’s something that not many people factor in. Fear and real emotions are quite powerful. And then you have the ones that are too confident and overstep and then crash. A lot more to manage mentally in real life but in terms of driving technique, I’d say it’s fairly close for the most part.

I recently got back into ACC and realized the brake bias is too far forward and I would always activate the ABS prematurely. Once I dialed it back I was better at braking

did the same and i turned the abs nearly off or to 1 or 2

I've been getting into iRacing latelly, coming from AC (not competizione) and I just can't get over how BAD the ffb feels. Is it just me or is this a thing? It just feels so un-informative and choppy, no definition at all. And the options in iRacing are basically overall intensity and that's it lol.

ok yo're working with iracing so i understand you dont need say about acc pros.for me acc is not good too... But if we talk about iracing what about mid corners grip cold tyres, ffb, porsche cup car, brake locks, and etc i think iracing doesn't good simulation too maybe in terminology or knowledge for racing maybeeee iracing good for education but if we are talk about practice or learn for referance points i think iracind doesn't close at irl so i think iracing needs a loootttt offf improves or upgrades or another things whatever i think real is real sim is sim:))) but i have trips for you TRY ASSETTO CORSA WİTH MODS (CUSTOM SHADER,GT3 CARS MOD,REAL TYRES MOD)İT FEELS MORE ACCURACY
