The Marvel Rivals video game by Studio NetEase is taking the gaming world by storm, but it's also capturing the imagination of gamers and comic fans everywhere with it's unique and inspiring character designs.
These designs are so good, fans have asked.. what would DC characters look like in the Rivals art style?
I decided to find out and design the characters myself.
Professional Comic book artist best known for his groundbreaking work on #injusticegodamongus and #injustice2 Mike S. Your art is amazing man!!! I have an idea for a green lantern design, maybe give him that cybernetic kind of armor like the rest of the characters have but with a twist of the armor being a projection from his ring. So it would be a semi transparent green armor covering some parts of his suit.

The one thing I’ve noticed about the Rivals art style is that they tend to leave certain lines outside of the characters to create a sense of sharpness, rather than erasing them. Other than that, your art style is perfect and feels like something DC would actually go for.

first thought: that's a lucky bird. but in all seriousness i like the details you put in into her costumes, especially the lines on her top. gives it texture not being flat without making it look too busy. i wonder if you would tackle cloak and dagger next? their design in rivals is nice enough but i feel is missing the noticeable dagger motif for the character named dagger.

Another beautiful piece. Love seeing Wonder Woman in a more armored look. Always found it odd when they put characters like her and Batman in basically cloth. They would wear armor naturally. Him for practicality, her out of tradition.

I have seen some great ideas advanced for who would be good for you to try next, but here are my top 10: 1. Flash - Sorry, but the group feels slightly incomplete without him 2. Plastic Man - Just a fun character who, after seeing the others in these new costumes, would likely, for giggles, alter his own to by stylistically similar 3. Green Arrow - I know that he would just be a skin on Hawkeye (like Plas would be a skin on Mr. Fantastic), but I like the guy 4. Green Lantern - How would the Lantern Ring alter the uniform to fit the Rivals Aesthetic? Kyle and Hal would be my personal picks, followed by John, and absolute last being Guy 5. Cyborg - He should actually fit the Rivals aesthetic awesomely 6. Blue Beetle - Any version of this character would be great, with Jaime and Ted being the ones that would likely be the most interesting. 7. Any of the Bat-Family - Dick, Jason, and Barbara would be my first choices, with Tim, Cas, and Stephanie following, Damien would be my least requested, and I can't forget the GOAT Alfred 8. Any of the Titans line-up - Starfire would lend herself really well to the aesthetic, with some interesting possibilities for Raven and Beast Boy 9. Booster Gold - I mentioned Blue Beetle above, I would be remiss if I failed to mention a character who absolutely would style their costume to be as cool as possible, just for the attention 10. Captain Cold - probably my favorite villain in DC For the ones that have more than 1 character sharing the name, the Green Lanterns and Blue Beetles, you might be able to do a Shoulder to Shoulder shot with an older one and a legacy version.

TBH, I HATE seeing Wonder Woman with a shield. Her BRACERS are her defense and central to the original character design. A shield just makes her look like a female Captain America wanna-be. Still love this piece though. The musculature of the sword arm and lean contours to the neck hint at her strength.
