Can we talk about how Rose was done dirty? He could have been such a great, creative villain! He didn't go for world domination, he didn't go for complete genocide or sheer stupidity (looking at you, team aqua/magma), he genuinely wanted to make the world a better place for humans AND pokemon and his plan was actually viable. But yeah, let's take one of the most refreshing concepts for a pokemon antagonist in a long, long time and just turn the guy into a complete buffoon. Ugh...
@iantaakalla81802 жыл бұрын
The funny thing is that merely changing the timeframe would have made him justified and Sword/Shield painfully relevant. If the energy crisis was 100 years away, that is certainly a timeframe justified for harnessing dangerous Dynamax power. That 100 years could be a conservative estimate and people could run out of energy much faster than 100 years, making Rose’s scramble and Leon’s shame at not taking the energy crises seriously make sense. It also parallels the supposed 30 years we have to not live in a radically altered Earth: no one takes it seriously and those who do so are seen as radical so they could have to take drastic steps to preserve the planet as-is. It could have been one of those “bad level design, good relevant story” games. Instead it’s just bad. And note that my point is just the bare minimum to add a semblance of a reason to buy Sword and Shield beyond getting Jirachi in Pokémon BD/SP.
@greyscaleadaven2 жыл бұрын
Tbh journeys did like okay with him, still not great but I actually liked the darkest day ark quite a bit bc we got to see the rampaging dynamax pokemon and their effects on the environment/people around them, though I do wish it was extended so that we could actually have a plot point and not just random filler episodes for no reason yk? But yeah it goes into his backstory a bit more and explains his toxic mentor relationship with Leon pretty well too. His motivation actually makes a lot more sense in the anime, though I do have my grievances with some parts of that. I'm liking what I've been seeing recently though from what I can find of the newer english dub, tbh I think pokemon fans can lack patience sometimes bc journeys is actually getting pretty good now with Chloe and an actual motivation for Goh who was frankly a pseudo-static character before that point.

@cosmefulanito68542 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I did my own first nuzlocke recently and the only rules were the basic ones: Name your pokemon; if the pokemon dies you can't use it again, and only one encounter per route. I also added an extra rule that forced me to play the way I would normally do, meaning I WOULD train my pokemon (which I normally don't) but I wouldn't check trainers' teams, build strategies or rely on swipping teams with a buffed pokemon. Just pure damage. After playing it, I reached the decision that training your pokemon is boring as all hell even with the emulator's speed up function, so next time I'll hack in some Rare Candy, which I consider cheating because I lost pokemon while training last time, but training is just not fun at all, so fuck that. There's also this friend of mine that adds a billion rules to make it more fun to him, like finding Max Revives counting as a revived pokemon, being able to generate any item he needs to evolve a pokemon, or having 2 or 3 encounters per route with the possibility of running away from one of them. I don't approve of any of those, but it makes it fun for him, so it's okay

God I love this idea. Really been thinking about a Mono-Normal run since the first time I saw this, and the rewatch and review watch through have just further motivated it. The fact that EVERY time you start popping off about a great encounter, that ‘mon gets dunked on quickly.

I’ve done a bug type hardcore nuzlocke in sword. It’s especially fun when you use isle of armor pokemon. Pinsir, Volcorona, and especially Scolipede were very good to have for a lot of the game. It would have been easier if my dwebble and orbeatle had survived longer, but the extra challenge was also fun… also shuckle is probably the most important one to catch…

The only real issue with these animated nuzlockes is that we as an audience don't get to see if he's over leveled, using items, or playing on set for us to learn off of what he can do differently, other than that what a great video and fun run!
@user-uv2cp1qd1j2 жыл бұрын
True. Unless the animator says you’d assume that they’re switch mode, using items, and roughly the same level as the cap. Just to give the most relevant advice. And if they’re over levelled and they don’t say then they’re a fucking pussy dude. Imagine, for example, how Jan was so surprised that Crustle survived that hit in the last fight. If the animator said “oh yeah it was level 67 lol” then it would make more sense sure, but would be a worse video. So they have a storytelling incentive to not let people know.

@@user-uv2cp1qd1j And in the video, the animator shows the Crustle having taken about 50% damage and was level 50. If that's the case, then that's really impressive considering the Charizard is level 65. And then he probably was underleveled for the fight.

I didn't watch Young Yong's nuzlocke closely so I don't know if he tried this, but when I did my monobug SwSh run I had dual screens on Orbeetle. You can get it as soon as Blipbug evolves into Dottler, and a light clay is accessible early with the digging duo. It made a lot of fights, such as Raihan's and Kabu's, much more feasible.
