I've personally enjoyed doing Type challenges. So far, my ruling on Pokemon usable for type challenges has been that if a Pokemon line gets the type(or one of the types) used by the challenge, the entire line is usable. The only area I draw the line for this is with Tera types since I've forgotten to use that on Pokemon that would otherwise not be in my team far too often

Must say, rather brave this Yong fellow is. First Nuzlocke, a blind monotype run? Well done on him. Also, being a little weird and mean... whether losing the Skorupi was really bad is determined by whether or not you count Drapion for this run, since it turns into a Dark/Poison type, which would technically disqualify it... on the other hand, if it's good enough for Aaron, it's probably good enough for us.

Can we talk about how Rose was done dirty? He could have been such a great, creative villain! He didn't go for world domination, he didn't go for complete genocide or sheer stupidity (looking at you, team aqua/magma), he genuinely wanted to make the world a better place for humans AND pokemon and his plan was actually viable. But yeah, let's take one of the most refreshing concepts for a pokemon antagonist in a long, long time and just turn the guy into a complete buffoon. Ugh...

The funny thing is that merely changing the timeframe would have made him justified and Sword/Shield painfully relevant. If the energy crisis was 100 years away, that is certainly a timeframe justified for harnessing dangerous Dynamax power. That 100 years could be a conservative estimate and people could run out of energy much faster than 100 years, making Rose’s scramble and Leon’s shame at not taking the energy crises seriously make sense. It also parallels the supposed 30 years we have to not live in a radically altered Earth: no one takes it seriously and those who do so are seen as radical so they could have to take drastic steps to preserve the planet as-is. It could have been one of those “bad level design, good relevant story” games. Instead it’s just bad. And note that my point is just the bare minimum to add a semblance of a reason to buy Sword and Shield beyond getting Jirachi in Pokémon BD/SP.
@greyscaleadaven

Tbh journeys did like okay with him, still not great but I actually liked the darkest day ark quite a bit bc we got to see the rampaging dynamax pokemon and their effects on the environment/people around them, though I do wish it was extended so that we could actually have a plot point and not just random filler episodes for no reason yk? But yeah it goes into his backstory a bit more and explains his toxic mentor relationship with Leon pretty well too. His motivation actually makes a lot more sense in the anime, though I do have my grievances with some parts of that. I'm liking what I've been seeing recently though from what I can find of the newer english dub, tbh I think pokemon fans can lack patience sometimes bc journeys is actually getting pretty good now with Chloe and an actual motivation for Goh who was frankly a pseudo-static character before that point.

Kinda makes sense imo. The Legendaries don't obey the villains because of their cruelty and abuse, but the Player Character is pure of heart and treats the Legendaries well. It's telling that the only two main series villains who succeeded at controlling Legendaries were N from Black/White (who is also pure of heart and kind to his Pokemon) and [SPOILER REDACTED] from Legends Arceus (who was definitely _not_ pure of heart, but shared a common goal with their Legendary).

Yeah, I did my own first nuzlocke recently and the only rules were the basic ones: Name your pokemon; if the pokemon dies you can't use it again, and only one encounter per route. I also added an extra rule that forced me to play the way I would normally do, meaning I WOULD train my pokemon (which I normally don't) but I wouldn't check trainers' teams, build strategies or rely on swipping teams with a buffed pokemon. Just pure damage. After playing it, I reached the decision that training your pokemon is boring as all hell even with the emulator's speed up function, so next time I'll hack in some Rare Candy, which I consider cheating because I lost pokemon while training last time, but training is just not fun at all, so fuck that. There's also this friend of mine that adds a billion rules to make it more fun to him, like finding Max Revives counting as a revived pokemon, being able to generate any item he needs to evolve a pokemon, or having 2 or 3 encounters per route with the possibility of running away from one of them. I don't approve of any of those, but it makes it fun for him, so it's okay

Sword/Shield is a fantastic game to nuzlocke. There's tremendous variety (especially if you're using the DLC), the encounters are very easy to control even if you don't allow dens, and the game itself is very beatable without being too easy.

Another cool benefit of DLC: depending on your ruleset, you can go to Crown Tundra with just a single weak Pokemon and lose to Peony. You don't actually white out upon losing to him, which is usually considered the lose condition of a Nuzlocke. Then you can run into the Tundra and grind Ore to get some Ability Patches for things like Libero Cinderace and Grassy Surge Rillaboom

Like my Shinx in BDSP is named Mellan, Irish name meaning "little lightning" and if I can't find a good name, then I'll just name my mons after characters I like, such as I named my Infernape Azula, I've named my Klefki Sora cause....KEYS lol. The only real issue with these animated nuzlockes is that we as an audience don't get to see if he's over leveled, using items, or playing on set for us to learn off of what he can do differently, other than that what a great video and fun run!
@user-uv2cp1qd1j
@user-uv2cp1qd1j 2 жыл бұрын
True. Unless the animator says you’d assume that they’re switch mode, using items, and roughly the same level as the cap. Just to give the most relevant advice. And if they’re over levelled and they don’t say then they’re a fucking pussy dude. Imagine, for example, how Jan was so surprised that Crustle survived that hit in the last fight. If the animator said “oh yeah it was level 67 lol” then it would make more sense sure, but would be a worse video. So they have a storytelling incentive to not let people know.

Duraludon sticks out in my mind bc on one of my runs I was worrying about it a ton, I thought it was gonna be this bitter struggle for victory, I was actually irl nervous. I had my Lapras and Lucario out with the plan to gigantamax Lapras and have it try and kill Duraludon with Lucario adding a bit of extra damage for safety. I take a deep breath, make my choice... and immediately Lucario oneshots Duraludon with (I believe) brick break. He really earned his nickname (Siegfried) in that fight.
