The observation about how A rank players seem to be gravitating more toward "easy" weapons was something I picked up as well making the How to Get Out of Ranked series. That's why there's that section of it at the beginning of that video. It's really interesting hearing someone else's take on it, there aren't that many players who have done something like this to compare notes with!

A Rank is by far the worst rank to be introduced to. You get Drop-Downs from S/S+, Smurfs who are jumping to X, B Rankers who played areo and got carried after 5 million years, or people who never decided to play the mode after they reached A and are secretly S+ in the other modes.

If there's anything this series shows, it's that you can't always just carry teams who don't want to play the objective or are completely inept. Can't wait for Chara to get to S and fight against teams with amazing aim, but terrible positioning and no awareness.

That's where I'm at right now. I don't know why, but everyone for some reason has good aim, but they're just in the most random places. Like, I question sometimes why I killed splatted out of nowhere and it's because of the weird positioning of the other team, and sometimes even my own teammates.

I found out one of my friends recently got in Splat and was trying Ranked He said that he was already in A Rank in Rainmaker because Rainmaker, and all I could say was "Good luck getting out, I sure had a hell of a time doing so"

(I’m still A rank in every mode outside rain because I stopped playing for a few years started took a 3 month break and now back in the grind)

As someone who’s been at a plateau in A+ for awhile, it’s actually really helpful to have a top player call out the patterns and shortcomings of this rank generally speaking, and how they get exploited.

I always found it weird how nobody seems to mind that the Splatoon 1-30 grind is absurdly long for what it is. Not to mention weapon unlocks are actually really back-loaded with 23 unlocks from 1-10 but 61 from 21-30. I get that once you hit level 30 you never have to think about it again but I've never liked how that becomes a reason to just turn a blind eye to objectively terrible design.

Actually, it's 1-20. most of those weapons you mentioned you unlock from levels 21-30 are unlocked *at* level 20. In fact, the only weapon you get after level 20 is the Octo Shot in S1, which you get from reaching level 40. The grind from level 1-20 is really bad and really back-loaded, yes, but after level 20, unless you want the armor replicas, the Octo Shot, and the Legendary Cap, you aren't missing much in S1.

Yep. X-Rank Charger over here. I was stuck in S+ for like 2 years. I had to play battle-charger because my teammates are 99% incompetent with slaying. I (sadly) get more kills than my tri-sloshers in many games

I know almost every S+ player in the West because I used to get stuck in S+ for a long time. When I de-rank from X, since I play vCharger (weapon got SHAFTED), I get caught relying on teammates. I can't simultaneously frag out AND maintain backline mentality. I hate going 15/15 because I should NEVER be playing battle vCharge. But, that's Solo. :)

def enjoying this series a lot! it's fun seeing the difference between ranks and your observations as a competitive player, u always hear from others abt "A hell" or "s+ hell" but being able to make observations between it and X is interesting i'm also excited to see how weird and hellish ranked is going to be when splat 3 drops and everyone's scrambling to get ranked snsgnsgsn. [personally i think it should evaluate your ranks in splat 2 if u own it and then drop u in a different rank depending, not 1:1 for sure but to prevent everyone being in C and having a wild ride for the first few months. but honestly either way it'll be fun to watch sort itself out]

I am stuck in A rank currently because like half the time my teammates are AFK, dead, or completely inept. It's the kinda shit where I get a triple kill, pop the rainmaker sheild with bomb rush, grab the rainmaker, and then I'll get killed after a bit of moving cuz the one person I didn't kill attacks me. Like where is my team!?!? The only reason I grab the rainmaker is because if I don't, nobody else will.

For my own experience I loved TC in ranked before X, because of how stupidly easy it was to get top frag. I was luna main and just had to simply walk in and shoot everything that moves, just had to look at the tower, aim up, shoot 2 times, I win. Also bc the mindset of players especially under S is to fight everything the same way, so they didn't know how to fight luna with range. They see me, they just go close to me and I win. Or if they were smarter, or play charger, they chuck a bomb at me. I go sideways chuck a bomb on the ground near them, they think they win so they try to aim at me while I dodge, I win. The charger didn't learn to check flanks ? I win. I chuck a bomb on tower, I win.

Something about a ranks is that a lot of them go for kills and have trained kills so not many people go for objective

Chara: *Distracts/Kills the entire enemy team.* His Team: *in a different dimension/not doing objective despite Chara's efforts.* Me, A resident A Rank Player in all Game Modes: First time? It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes it do be like that, you somehow managed to distract 2 or 3 of the enemy team, kill most if not all of them, and you see the enemy team somehow still has the objective and your team is just taking selfies or some shit. I've played goalie and defended the goal from the enemy team, at least 3 of them who game in 1 at a time. Defending the clam blitz goal from 3/4th the enemy team, and my team is...eating the clams? Idk what they were doing. In an A rank tower control match my entire team (including me) got spawn camped by a single roller user. Only person who could kill them was me because I shot at them from the safety of the spawn barrier. They all just rushed forward into him.

Oh, A rank... Yeah, I was always the Nzap pushing objective and it worked most of the time. It's that strange in-between where player got out of B rank and feel a little more confident about what they are doing. And that confidence sometimes breeds stupidity. Feeding is a big problem. They don't know slayer, anchors and support, everyone just plays how they want. Like if I was Chara at 2:20, I would go on tower just to start the push. You have to be very diliberate: Even when you spam 'this way' to get your team to move, some will not listen, and good luck trying to trade with a teammate on the tower. People make such strange plays, but once you get used to it, they are easier to read. They aren't at S or X rank, but they are slowly learning where the key points are. (Like suddenly you'll see one charger who's figured it out because they normally have to most time to look over the teams).
