When taping. After you pull it you need to address that very top edge of caulking. The tape pulls the caulking slightly from the wall. After you pull tape you need to hit the caulking one more time with your finger.

Excellent tips on your videos. Have you tried using damp tile sponges? They work excellent for smoothing out caulking even in corners.

Another tip (no pun intended) is to push the tip rather than pull it. That will push more caulk into the joint and less excess to wipe off.

WRONG. This is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. I have been a professional caulker for over 45 years. I have installed very conservatively over 100 miles if sealant. Anyone that knows anything about installing sealants would never push the gun. It is far inferior. THIS IS A FACT.

@@tedspens you are hilarious. I have been an expert witness n court. I have won national recognition for my work. I have VERY conservatively installed over 100 MILES of sealant. An obvious ignorant amateur like you does not phase me

Great tips but you jumped around too much. People like, “detailing?! Wtf does that mean?!” “What am I referencing to?!?” Lol!! 😂

You forgot to mention when, using the tape to go ahead and repaint the baseboard moldings that way the paint will seal the caulk, and you won’t have dust that sticks to it or changes colors, and it wipes off very easy when cleaning them
@jstone121111 ай бұрын
My Dad taught me to use a little dish detergent on your finger....keeps the caulk from sticking to your hand...

Absolutely 100% wrong .Soapy water causes the sealant to fail.

Absolutely a very bad idea every major manufacturer says not too. It causes premature failure

Yeah, im sure im more likely to have Bbwipes than a wet rag... just cur the tip correctly and lay it smooth in one shot... no need to ever touch it after it comes out of the gun.

don't use tape it leaves a ledge and will always be a problem later while painting
@genecarden7808 ай бұрын
Only when done wrong. But I agree that when used for paint prep there is absolutely no reason to use tape.
@tomaxxxx5368 ай бұрын
@genecarden780 tape and caulk always leaves a ledge at tape edge, nothing wrong with the tape problem is the caulk. Just seal tape edge with the trim paint.
@genecarden7808 ай бұрын
@@tomaxxxx536 I have been a professional caulker for over 45 years. I’m the guy they call in when sealant fails. You are absolutely wrong about it always leaving an edge. If you tool it correctly there is no perceivable edge. You have to tool it so the edge at the sealant and tape is transparent.
