Oh... ya I hope no one got mad at day9 I thought it was a clever bit of marketing work, and...well it worked! I never even thought of following MTG's tourney set up until I saw him playing the online game. So I hope my glorious presence cuts some of that anger. Seriously though, hour long matches with casters talking about the decisions being made? The hell did I not know about this before, just an awesome amount of content.

You can always just go and ask him to let you read his card and he is forced to let you do it. You're allowed to take a bit more time checking the board position too. You're reasoning works for the other side too. Playing lands in back can obstruct you from seeing/reading lands. When it comes to attacking and blocking, you just move the attackers/blockers forward between the lands and other creatures. It's not like they're mixing lands and creatures together.

I don't know why there's so much hate on Day9. He did not take somebody's place to the Pro tour, Wizards did not said to a PTQ winner "hey man you won you were great but sorry, your places goes to Day9". No, they invited him because Wizards wanted to introduce MTG to a new audience, and well, he did great. He knew he was not going to win the PT, but he was here to have fun and to show that Magic is fun.

Oh for the +1/+1 on the weird you don't have to announce the trigger till it is relevant ie Damage step so when Sean said take 5 cause of ability he is perfectly fine it is like exalted triggers
@Sedilkin11 жыл бұрын
I feel that ultimately it was the correct decision, In much the same way as magic online handles things. You CAN untap lands before you allow something to resolve. The difference is instead of something physically stopping you from casting something you shouldn't be able to, by making that mistake you give your opponent free information. Sean now knows of the Armada Wurm, but Piotr's plays are unaffected.

@jamesmaurer528011 жыл бұрын
Question: around the 35:00 minute mark when Sean notices his mistake in not untapping his Blistercoil Weird the commentators are saying that it should be untapped from the first casting of Hidden Strings, are the commentators wrong or do I just not understand Magic? The first Hidden Strings has to be cast during Sean's original main phase which means that he has not declared attackers and his Blistercoil Weird is already untapped. Then, the second Strings would untap it, right?

+Dan Dunning It's a bullshit mindgame thing people do at a FNM I go to from time to time. It's so you have to ask to see cards and some people just won't because they're nervous. There's no good reason to do it that I see, so if you do it, you're just a douche.
@pupsinsbarks8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Rominger it's actually how the game used to be played! if you look at older handbooks on how to play they have the lands in front. now lands go behind, and recently at my local game store judges have been asking people who play with the older rules to make the switch.
@SpectrumHazard8 жыл бұрын
Alex White Oh yeah, I forgot about this comment. Yeah, some guy told me about it at the shop, and he was either wrong or that's a reason why people continue to do it. I would argue it is objectively better, in regards of accessibility, to have your non-land cards in front. I did figure out that it was the original way to have them set up.

its not the OG way. people claim it was in one of the starter booklets but no one seems to be able to find the booklet it was printed in (at least from my minimal research). you can layout your board however you want but i personally hate it because 1. It obstructs me from clearly seeing/reading your cards. I have a right to know all the cards on the battlefield at any given time. 2. Creatures need to be up in front to prevent confusion when it comes to attacking and blocking.

@zandadoum11 жыл бұрын
Well, the judge is the law... I am not a huge rule expert so I might be wrong, and I certainly would not mind at a local tourney... but in a GP? If you tap you lands, they are TAPPED. whatever mana comes out of that: you either use it or loose it. He could not cast what he wanted to because he had the wrong mana, so he wasn't allowed to cast that, which I agree. But allowing him to untap the lands? That was a wrong move imo.
